Big Blues Sub

I was in Linden for a funeral and got to the train station an hour early. I'd never been to Linden, so I walked down to Wood Avenue in search of lunch and happened upon Big Blue Subs. I'm glad I did. The first thing that hit me was how sparkling clean the place was. The second thing was that they had Italian hot dogs, a delicacy unobtainable in Brooklyn and one I hadn't had in over 40 years. For the uninitiated, an Italian hot dog is a deep-fried beef hot dog (two if you're ordering a double as I did) smothered in grilled peppers and onions and topped with 1/2" thick deep-fried potato discs all nestled in a pillowy-soft pizza roll. I ordered a double and was told to take a seat at one of the sparkling clean tables and it would be brought out to me. My first impression was that this is one huge meal. I started in on the potato discs. The were nicely crispy outside and soft and nearly creamy inside. they were, despite being deep-fried, decidedly not greasy. Once I got through them, I started to eat the double dogs smothered in onions and peppers in that soft, fluffy roll. Despite being famished when I walked through the door, I couldn't get more than halfway through my perfect double Italian hot dog before I had to throw in the towel. I've had more than a few Italian hot dogs in my mis-spent youth, and they were usually soggy, greasy, delicious messes. My Big Blue Subs Double Italian Hot Dog was absolute perfection, It was not greasy, it was not soggy and even the potatoes were perfectly fried, but not greasy. If I'm ever back in Linden, I will definitely return!

Nice sandwiches, with some interesting specialty subs.

Ordered a regular big blue for lunch, and ordered so fast I forgot to add a customization. I called within about 5 minutes after realizing to try and add it to my sandwich, but one of the workers let me know it had already been made. He told me he could add it to the side and that was absolutely no problem! When I received my order, I noticed it wasn’t in the bag, but did a little further investigation and saw that they had actually fixed it for me. It’s been a very emotional day, and you don’t know how happy you made me that I didn’t have to go through the tiniest inconvenience when it arrived. Thank you for going the extra mile when you said it had been packed, I really appreciate it and will always come back to big blues. Nobody makes it like y’all :)

I was referred here by my boyfriend and I was not disappointed. I had a turkey and swiss cheese with everything on it and it was life lol and my kids enjoyed their food as well. I will definitely go back.

I ordered an Italian cheese steak, pastrami w/cheese, and a turkey w/cheese. All sandwiches were made to perfection. Fresh bread well seasoned and cooked perfect. They also have great customer service. The prices are reasonable especially for how good the sandwiches are. I definitely recommend!!

The guys who work there were friendly and worked fast.
We ordered the soup, which was chicken noodle. It was packed with chicken, veg and noodles and full of flavor.
We split the "Rome" sandwich which was on the SPECIALTY list
This sandwich was terrific full of freshly sliced meats and cheeses, topped with crisp shredded lettuce,tomato and onion.
All was served quickly and tasted delicious

It's not It's hard to see why they were so busy at 11 o'clock on a Saturday

Great place to eat. Food is excellent regardless of what you order. The owner and employees there are very friendly and helpful when it comes to your preferences. This shop is a staple in Linden. It has been there for many years because of the food and service. Best italian hotdogs around made your authentic way. Their subs can't be beat along with their fresh pickles. To go there once, you're guaranteed to come back.

One of the 3 sub shops I go to in NJ period. I've been going to this place for over 10 years now and the food is still great today. Prices are great, the staff is amazing, and it's in a great location. Keep up the amazing work, I'll be there today to pick up lunch.

I've been ordering here for many many years. The guys are super friendly, but most importantly the food is great! I'm a creature of habit, so when I call in an order it's usually the same way. One day I changed up my pastrami order, and one of the guys called me back to be sure it wasn't a mistake. Lol. Great customer service. They know us by voice/name. The ingredients are fresh, the subs are meaty, and the sliced homemade potatoes on the Italian hotdogs are delicious too!

Very good menu selection. My only gripe is they only deliver up to 2:30 p.m. and not on weekends. I've been a customer for over 20 years and will continue to patronize Big Blue's.

Fantastic little place. The Sub shop smells delicious the moment you walk in, it’s a small and clean establishment. Their selection of subs/sandwiches are one of the best I’ve seen around the area.

I normally go to Big Blue Subs on Wood Ave in Linden. I decided to try Jersey Mike Subs. BIG mistake. I walk in and review the menu and decide on pastrami and cheese with fried onions and the chicken ranch. The young lady took my order and proceeded to as the cook of he will make it. He had a smug look on his face and mumbled something I didn't comprehend. I ask the young lady who was he and she stared Tyler he is the Assistan Mgr. I've been a manager over 30 years and that type of attitude is unacceptable. I received my sandwiches needless to say that was 18.01 gone to the garbage. Pastrami was rubbery, cheese not melted and on onions. I will definitely stick with Big Blue and will encourage my Linden friends to do the same. Please get Tyler refresher Customer Service training!

Blue's has been around a long time and has always been a great spot for a good sandwich. The potato fries are hard to find anywhere else and are 1 of my favorites from here.

Solid option for subs or breakfast sandwiches.
Always tasty, I've gotten food from there a several times, know friends who get their subs there more often and they def have regulars. Their footlongs taste so much different, more delicate, than from Subway. Solid lunch spot on a quick break or take to go when in Linden.
Big Blue's is located near the train station and within walking distance of city center. Location is clean with several tables (can sit 20 ish people) there is street parking in front and more spots around the block, a number of staples and options for most and all at an affordable price

Won't say best subs in town because I'm not from Jersey, only stopped by and took a chance, but it was worth it!!! Subs are fresh, made to perfection, and not as expensive like subway or any other sub shops that I can think of. Thumbs up on this one.

Great work staff...and Best Sub Sandwiches....Ever!!...Out of any other place!! I've been going here for years after a friend put me in to them. Alot of other places have "commercial succes and notoriety"...but this place tops them hands down!!

found this through google and hands down one of the best sandwich places. the price is a bit high but its worth it when you see the sandwich. for starters try the big blue

Just tried this place because of the convenient location. I am very satisfied, clean, great sandwiches and great service! What more can you ask for??

Remember this place 23 years ago and there sandwiches and food is still the best as always great lunch had the double Italian fantastic
