Prairie Oaks Metro Park - Beaver Lake

This is one of the most relaxing/peacful places just outside of Columbus. If it's late in the day and I don't want to go on a long drive, this is my go to spot.

From the moment you enter Prairie Oaks Metro Park, you're transported to a peaceful and serene natural world. The park boasts over 500 acres of rolling prairie, fields, woodlands, and wetlands, with multiple trails to explore and a variety of wildlife to discover.
One of the highlights of Prairie Oaks is its impressive network of trails, which are perfect for hiking, running, or biking. The trails wind through fields of tall grasses, over wooden bridges, and through quiet woods, offering a diverse and immersive experience for nature enthusiasts of all levels.

Prairie Oaks Metro Park is well-maintained, with plenty of benches and rest areas along the trails, and the staff are friendly and helpful. I've been to the other lakes in Prairie Oaks Metro Park but Beaver Lake for some reason has a separate entrance. Beaver Lake is just as nice as the others in the park. It has a grass trail around it. Roughly half a mile and an easy trail. The lake and the surrounding areas are very picturesque and well maintained.

Very nice. Beautiful views! A great place to go kayaking or fishing or to just lovely to look at. I live prairie oaks parks.

Beautiful place I'm fortunate to be 5 min away. Even had family pictures do e when my son was on leave from the army . . I have many more . But I love walking running and fishing here .

This used to be a quarry.
Now you can go here and relax by the pond or river.
There is a nice short trail here around the pond and relatively easy river access.
Very nice place to visit for park type relaxation.
There are no facilities or playgrounds here.
Just some reclaimed nature that I think is worth visiting.

This place is a hidden treasure. I love coming here in the morning to catch the sunrise.

Great location for long walking trails and beautiful views. Offers trails for walking and horseback riding. The lakes here are wonderful, you can walk trails around them, kayak in them and there is even a location for letting your dog run around off leash for swimming. 5/5

It seems a bit hidden but if you pass a small white bridge, the lake is off to the left side of the road. There’s a small parking area that fits 6-8 vehicles. It is serene during sunsets and very scenic if you enjoy reflective landscapes. This is a relaxing place around Prairie Oaks Metro Park.

Great pond for hiking and kayaking. Access to the Little Darby Creek as well

Beaver lake was beautiful little spot. Ranger said it's about 45 feet deep on average. Great spot for kayaking.
