Great atmosphere to talk to anybody. The food is always great and coffee is always fresh. Biscuits and gravy is my go to. Prices are very very fair for the portion sizes.

Very local spot where locals hang & the owner serves up hospitality & a mighty fine experience! Sure to find your cup of coffee tipped off every little bit to keep it hot & you chattering with energy.

Best Sausage gravy & Biscuits in the land I have found! Visiting Defiance I find great pleasure in scoping out spots that bring me great satisfaction & joy on the table to share. If you ever crave what this plate pictured, there is 2 options. Big Rumor or Little Rumor. No disappointment!

I love coming her I'm a third shifter and when I get off work I don't always want breakfast and from the first visit she will cook me anything on the menu. They cater to their customers. Great peoples.

First of all, I live 600 miles away and the owner made it feel like it was my neighborhood breakfast joint. The food came and everything was excellent. Well priced and very good quality. This place deserves a lot of business. They work hard and put out a quality product. I only wish they were in North Carolina so I could eat there more often

I'm torn... Super homey feel, regulars don't even have to place drink orders, she just knows. Guys hanging out chatting, catching up, old couples and young families with kids. Would love to recommend everybody in Defiance or passing through stop and enjoy the good food, good prices, and great service, but I'd be afraid it would ruin some of the charm if the place got overwhelmed by people just looking to mind their own business...

But if you're up for the feel of a true local spot, the pie is hand made and everything is cooked from scratch to perfection, you can't go wrong here.

A great place to sit and chat with friendly people. Whether you know them or not! There's a warning on the door you really should read before entering! A great place to eat if you don't get offended easily! The food was absolutely top line. Support locals yall

Christy has a perfect place to relax and have a great break or lunch. Quality of food, portions, and price are very fair. Had French toast breakfast with the wife. Great time 👍...

The food there was great. They’re fries and onion rings are homemade. Coming from someone who doesn’t like coleslaw, I really liked it. Everything came out hot and the staff was really polite. Overall it’s a great place if you just want to get a good burger, fish, or breakfast.

My only complaint was the draft from the doors opening, but that’s more a problem with the building construction, so sit in the middle if you can.

I haven't been in the city for years so the revamp from Tom's Donuts to Rumor Mill is very noticeable for me. I enjoyed to old Superior coffee but the current coffee is just as good and still literally fresh ground per pot. First thing you notice is a carpeted dining room but it works. From the very clean kitchen (a rarity for a small kitchen) came my 3 eggs, home fries, ham and toast. Along with my coffee my bill came to just over 12 bucks. About $2.00 less than the same breakfast I order other places. I saw they had full biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs at $4.99 which I see at similar small restaurants at $7.99. You can also call ahead and pick up your meal from the drive thru window!!

Pretty good place, the staff is very responsive. Food is pretty cheap, especially the 10$ “Big Rumor” that comes with a bunch of food that tastes great. It’s a very old fashioned style place that makes it feel a little like the 80s. It’s a very relaxed place as well if you’re the type that likes to hang out and chat. The staff can chat as well if it’s not busy. Overall, great place that needs more attention.

Great environment and reasonable prices. Good place for a cup of joe or a bite to eat. The owner gets to know you and the staff treat everyone as family.

Really hope that the community supports the Rumor Mill by stopping in to try a burger. There onion rings, French fries and Cole slaw appears to be homemade and are fantastic! Total cost of a good bacon cheeseburger, onion rings and Cole slaw was $8.99 and portions were good size as well.

The Rumor Mill Cafe has a home town feel. Great home made daily special. The owner Christie Colburn makes you feel part of her family when you walk in the door. Open from 6am to 5pm, Mon thru Sat. Closed on Sundays.

Great customer service and also great food . A nice sit down restaurant in this area and one of my fravite places to go .
