If people would actually follow the rules for decorations they wouldn't have issues. live flowers in summer, artificial in winter, no concrete edging. Read the entire list of thier rules and you won't have problems.

There is nothing new with the rules. The rules had been there but the previous caretaker was lax with making sure that graves were tended to properly. There was a compromise made as some wanted but they didn’t get everything they wanted so now they want to do this through Google. Sad that some don’t have loved ones here that are affected

I am very pleased with the improved grounds keeping that is taking place this year. A bit blustery yesterday.

Nice little cemetery. Two "haunted" spots in the cemetery.

This Cemetery used to be kept up much better. Now, they carelessly mow through the monuments, do not blow off the dead grass from the foot stones, and allow shrubbery to over grow against headstones. It is very sad when you place your loved one in a “memorial garden” which is now poorly maintained.

Very unhappy with recent events happening here in my hometown cemetery. Some of my older relatives are buried here, along with 2 of my brothers in the Veteran niches. Not only is this a landmark cemetery, it is also listed as a public park because of its beauty. Part of its beauty is due to how patrons (parents, siblings, spouses, children, etc.) have been able to LOVINGLY decorate and visit their lost loved ones! Who decided how people are allowed to grieve??? Very disappointed 😔

I was looking for a place to bury my husband, but after all the things I have seen the new management is doing in the news when I did a Google search, I will be picking somewhere else. Removing items from people's graves when it's always been allowed after they already buried a loved one is unacceptable. Not to mention the disrespect to veterans flags and other issues. I can't imagine how upset people must be.

Everytime I go to check my husband's grave there is trash along the fence lines. Is it that hard to do a walk around the fence once a week. The canopy for the burials has been sitting outside for over a week. Maybe two at this point in the same spot. Burial is complete..... Why is this still sitting there as an eye sore? Shouldn't this be stored somewhere besides in the middle of people's plots?

Things seemed to be fine until the new superintendent was hired and no decorations were permitted. And apparently no mowing or weeding was permitted by the grounds staff. I wish I would have chosen a different cemetery for my loved ones but I was going on the information provided when the plots were purchased

What a disgrace. This place used to have a welcoming and loving vibe. Apparently making rules, exercising power over families, and trying to make it a cold and ghastly environment is ‘progress’.
Get rid of the moron that runs the place and people might want to purchase plots.

The new management is horrific. After reading what they are doing to the families of loved ones buried there, they should all be out of their jobs. Being in charge of gravesites and dictating what families can and can’t do is appalling.

*CAUTION*
DO NOT CONSIDER PURCHASING GRAVE SITES FROM CEDAR HILL CEMETERY.

The cemetery has been in Central Ohio news for 2 months, and social media.
The community is outraged at the change in tradition after 89 years, New management has forced parents of children to strip their graves of any ornaments around the monuments, as well as other grieving families

For those that could not afford a headstone, they have now been told their babies need to lay in an unmarked grave
Decorations signifying their resting place during the warm months have been prohibited.
.
Further community scandals include...
-desecration of the American flag, which were found in trash barrels and in the dirt and exposed on local media .
-People's ornaments stolen andfound in the dumpster, after the cemetery denied knowing what happened to them,
- Foot high grass and weeds overgrowing
monuments on Mother's Day.
- families being made promises that if they
buy a lot, they can decorate as has been
for the last half century at least.
And now, suddenly being told by new
management that anything found around a
grave monument will be thrown away
without notice.
- the new superintendent has been
accused by citizens of Newark of lying to
both them directly and city council, in an
attempt to conceal misdeeds. Video on
social media verifies these accusations.

Concerns from citizens outraged at the
new management and deceptive sales
practices can be seen on video at

This cemetery has no problem, and has exhibited, changing rules on consumers after decades simply on a whim.
Justifications for drastic changes to grave sites have been proven false.

The people that have already made the mistake of burying their loved ones here, are speaking about lawsuits to have their family members moved to a cemetery that practices respect for the dead, and the living.

People were crying as they were forced to strip the graves of their children and family members of ornamentation, borders, and solar lights.
Claims of maintenance issues were proven false by the public after providing the cemetery with solutions.

Cemetery management and the mayor of Newark would not respond to the outrage;
Citizens have commented that they would not bury their dog in that cemetery, now that it has become a place of desecration and disrespect.

Buyer remorse is ever present due to new management feeling that they can dictate how people should grieve after 89 years of tradition.
1,3, or 5 years from now, your loved ones resting place can be ordered to be changed at the whim of cemetery management.

A stone and a live flower. The only two items you can sit on the summer ground at Cedar Hill cemetery.

Mother's Day at Cedar Hill cemetery was a disgrace. Hundreds of people expressing shock and anger at the overgrown, unkept condition this management allowed on a heartfelt day of grieving.

There are other fine cemeteries in this area that have kept a consistent culture since their beginning.
Please consider them for your loved ones.

Cedar Hill has ordered graves to be stripped of mementos that show people come and actively grieve, after a half century of selling plots based on a warm, respectable environment, and the ability to leave a. Pinwheel or pooh statue for a child.

This is all been taken away by the first management in 89 years that was arrogant enough to think they can inflict their will on sacred burial sites.
If you want peace after finding your family member a resting place, stay away from this struggling, inadequate operation.

In the pictures it looks so pretty with loved ones having flowers and personal tributes. Now that these things are gone, it looks like no one cares. How sad for their loved ones. The cemetery is cold and unfriendly. I requested my family that planned burials there to changes those plans. It is so important in the grieving process to be able to still care for your loved ones. Now it is cold and empty.

I am so sad regarding this whole cemetery situation. My great grandparents, grandparents, parents, are buried here and I also have plots here. It is in horrible condition and the new attitude they have adopted is an embarrassment to our city. If this new superintendent had an ounce of decency she would have resigned. Sadly she has been caught in lie after lie, and obviously this is not the job for her. As council has said, I am also a rule follower so please don't use that tired excuse for what has been happening here or for the horrible condition the cemetery has been kept. It's a shame we taxpayers can't demand the removal of those in charge of this mess. My advice, do NOT purchase a plot here, there is no respect for those grieving or for those buried here.
