This is like stepping back in time. As you travel down a mountain road and find this treasure of...well most anything you need generals store for camping and adventure! So neat and clean and refreshing!
We did not stay at the camping sites but great place!
Really friendly owner too!

This place is amazing ! The store staff and host are incredible and very helpful. Such a nice quite spot tucked in an old growth Ponderosa forest. Prefect spot for setting up a base camp to explore the area, so much to do right out the camp. We also enjoyed hang out, fishing and paddle boarding at Williams Reservoir just down the road. We understand why people spend weeks and return every year using Sportsman's Campground as their home base!

This was my first trip up and I absolutely enjoyed it. I was car camping and stayed at the tent site. It was nice to have access to the restrooms and showers in the lodge. The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. Thanks all for the memorable experience!

Loved it here. The place is awesome for a cabin. They have wifi, a pool table, stove, and other activities in the common area. You like the outdoors, want isolation in the middle of mountains, want to be able to disconnect and still have things to do with the family or friends, this is the place. Melinda was awesome and easy to deal with. Will be back next time we're in town.

Amazing campground in the pines! Great for families with a playground and central lodge. Perfect place to relax or head out on an adventure with trails at the end of every road, a gorgeous lake for fishing or recreating and rivers a short drive away. The staff is very helpful and always go above and beyond!

Amazing part of the country in San Juan National Forest with a quaint general store with lovely staff who are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. There is so much to do around this part of the country depending on what tickles your fancy. There is a lovely looking campground that we’ve never stayed at since we stay at cabins nearby and just stop in for gas and snacks at the store because sometimes you wanna go where everybody knows your name.

Love this place. I could hang out at the country store all day. They have great information about the area and are always friendly. The horseback riding is wonderful. This time we rode our 4 wheelers and it was amazing. It's a little slice of heaven.

How can you beat the sounds of hummingbirds, campfires, and a naturally flowing stream? Not to mention the views of the trees and the amazingly fresh mountain air.

But the real treasure of the Rockies is the amazing staff at the campgrounds. Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful anytime we needed anything. 11/10 would camp again.

This campground is great. We spent 3 weeks here, in our 27' fifth wheel camper. The campsite was spacious, gravel, with picnic table and fire pit. Very shady. We've only had to use our a/c the last two days of our visit. It has been very cool and enjoyable. There were afternoon thundershowers most days, but beautiful clear mornings and clear most nights. The San Juan National Forest surrounds us here, and it is beautiful beyond description in these mountains. Due to COVID-19, we've had restrictions about wearing masks when entering public areas, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Their general store has most anything you'd need in a pinch. We used 30 amp service, water, and sewer. They also have cable tv hookups, but we didn't use ours. There is very little verizon service here. They have free wifi, but of course in this area it is spotty.
We've already made our reservation for next year!

I've had some great campground experiences, but Alison and the gang have made Sportsman's my overwhelming favorite! Gotta go back... Sure, it would take me over half an hour to get into town when I visited last month, but that meant good dark and quiet (only one big motorhome running an air conditioner and one sprinkler outside my cabin (McClintock)) after grilling dinner and borrowing a book from the common room library. The wifi was weak enough to make downloading more maps a struggle, but [committing to buying the six-pack of beer so you can share it with neighbors] cures all! Even the road up into the valley is a treat

I've been camping at Sportsman's Campground for over 15 years. I have always been treated like family from the owner, John Reed and his staff. The scenery is breath taking and there is much to see and enjoy.

Stopped in almost daily to replenish our ice and basic supplies. The staff here is super fun and friendly. We camped nearby, but loved our visits to the store to meet fellow travelers and catch up with the great employees.

We had a great stay and time during hunting season. Couldn't ask for better. No phone service was a plus for me. Thanks looking forward to next year.

Loved this campsite! Shady, spacious, clean! We had a fire pit and picnic table. Immaculate bathrooms/showers and nicely stocked little store. Will definitely re-book here!

Rolled the dice coming here last year (during the fires) they were all very patient with me asking a million questions while trying to decide whether to come there or not. Was so glad we did! Dont let the drive from Pagosa deter you. We will see yall again soon!

This is a very nice privately owned campground. Lots of trees and the sites are more spacious than some private campgrounds. Full hookups are available.

They are always amazing! They are there for camping and daytime store service. After hours you should expect to be camping not glamping!
