So happy our group found Captain Mike and the Sea Roamer. When comparing my past experiences fishing in other parts of Alaska I can’t say enough good things about my experience on the Sea Roamer. Who you fish with matters and fishing with Mike Reif the owner operator makes all the difference in a quality trip. Mike put us on the fish and made each day fun and exciting. If Mark is crewing on your charter you are not only getting another great person to spend a day with, but an experienced mate and an Ichthyologist to boot. The fishing was so good we were able to watch the Humpbacks, Orcas, and puffins.

I have been fishing in Alaska off and on for 20 years. With Mike and the crew on the Sea Roamer, this was my best trip by far. I took three inexperienced fishermen, and we had a successful and fun time with Mike and Mark mentoring us. Catching a mixture of Coho, King, Halibut, Link Cod, and Rockfish, Mike knew the best fishing spots. The Sea Roamer is a custom-built boat ideal for fishing in the Sitka waters. The tri-hull boat was stable, roomy, easy to fish from with up to six folks, and had a nice cabin for taking lunch and breaks. Mike found us a comfortable new apartment that suited our needs and was close to the dock. As part of the package plan, our fish were cleaned, vacuum-packed, and delivered to the airport at departure. We have already booked for next September. Robert O'Neal

Our trip was filled with beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife, and an extremely accommodating charter captain. Mike was easy to work with, making the reservation process effortless. His knowledge of the area and of his craft were evident during our time on the water! We went home with a variety of fish and a lifetime of memories!
We also had a great time on the boat, getting to know Mike and his first mate Mark. Thank you for being so good to our group!

Fishing with Sea Roamer Charters in Sitka is always amazing! Our 3-generation family of 6, including a 12 and 14 year old and two 70-something year olds, fished with Captain Mike for the 4th time in June. Our two days of fishing were incredible! We caught our limits of King salmon, halibut, rock fish and a couple bonus ling cod. We love how Mike and Mark embrace having our children on board, including teaching them some basic deck hand skills. They were also very accommodating for my older parents, helping them feel comfortable fishing on the rough waters. We look forward to fishing with them again in 2024!

I have been fishing with Captain Mike, and his first mate Erik, with friends for a number of years now. First rate operation all the way. Mike and Erik make it their #1 priority to put you on the fish. The Sea Roamer is a very comfortable boat and Mike’s equipment is the best. I would not think of chartering with anyone else in Sitka/

Been hearing rumors about the best guide and boat in Sitka for a decade from a colleague who has fished with Mike for over 20years. Felt honored to finally get a chance to fish with them. Had an absolutely wonderful time and hope to keep coming back as long as they keep fishing. They work as a commercial fishing and diving boat off the charter season so he knows this water and the fish well as anyone. Really, as good as it gets, can't do better.

Of all the fishing charters I have been fortunate to go on in Alaska, Sea Roamer Charters is one of the best. Their fishing package is very complete, their boat is awesome, and Captain Mike and Erik are excellent fishermen! They want to find you fish, period. They work and take care of you so you get to enjoy Sitka’s great fishing and scenery. We caught limits of king salmon, halibut, lingcod, and rockfish. They are priced right and go the extra mile.

A great experience always aboard the Sea Roamer! Captain Mike and First Mate Erik do everything in their power to make sure you have the best experience. They bait the hooks, take care of the fish, teach you the best methods, clean and package your catch, feed you lunch, show you wildlife and amazing scenery, and create a fun atmosphere for whatever banter you're into. If you want to do more of the work yourself, no problem. They let you get involved. You want to relax and just reel in fish? No problem as they'll take care of you. The boat was also very well kept up with and definitely one of the bigger ones that we saw out on the water around us. Open layout and plenty of room to move around in order to reel in monster salmon! The wildlife sighting this year was fantastic as well! Thanks again Mike and Erik, can't wait until next year to do it all over again!

This was my first time fishing in Alaska, and it was better than I could have imagined. We had the BEST experience with Captain Mike, Mark (first mate), and the Sea Roamer. Mike got us on the fish every time, no matter what we were fishing for. On top of that, he and Mark, were fun and friendly to spend a few days with. They even made sure to point out wildlife, geography, etc. whenever they could. The boat was clean and comfortable, and lunch was tasty. I highly recommend Captain Mike and the Sea Roamer. Been fishing in Alaska every year for 34 years now and the last 16 have been with Mike and Mark on the Sea Roamer. We have had all kinds of weather but this year (2023) it was wet and windy. We still caught lots of Coho but we could not get out to the open water to get halibut. Still had a great time with good friends. It is the highlight of our year to spend a week on Sea Roamer with Mike and Mark.

It was our second trip with Captain Mike and crew. We’re planning another! Fantastic experience in a beautiful area of Alaska while staying in the quaint city of Sitka. Mike and his team are extremely experienced, friendly ,welcoming , and great, patient teachers.

What an amazing experience fishing with Sea Roamer Charters. Mike and Eric are master craftsmen. A first class operation. Beautiful well maintained boat. Excellent gear. Extremely conscious of taking great care with the fish we caught. Great fishing, whale watching, sea lion viewing and they even took us to see a bear when they found out we couldn't get into Fortress of the Bear because it was sold out! If you want a top notch fishing experience look no further than Mike, Eric and the Sea Roamer.

We had an amazing 3 days of fishing in June captain Mike really knows what he is doing, he made sure we got on the fish every day. We couldn't have asked for a better time.

Everything on this Salmon/halibut fishing trip was well organized but flexible enough to allow myself and fishing partner an experience tailored to our expectations. Mike and his deckhand, Mark, were both incredible guys with refreshingly authentic character. I couldn't have asked for a better trip.

I'm reluctant to post this because I would love to keep these guys a secret to make my next booking that much easier! However, Sea Roamer Charters deserves the credit and I would be doing them a disservice to keep it to myself. You won't regret booking with Sea Roamers.

I've been joining Captain Mike and Erik for many years of the best Alaska has to offer in fishing, scenery and adventure. I deeply appreciate their teamwork in providing the very best fishing experience year after year. Mike and Erik create, through hard work and love of their profession a sense of community on the Sea Roamer. It is hard to say goodbye at the end of each visit but the knowledge we can carry the memories and return eases our departure. Each year I fly into Sitka with expectations of pure angling fun, great company and renewal. I've never been disappointed.

This was the second time I've been able to fish in Alaska, both times with Captain Mike(and second time as great as the first). We had two great days on the water; Captain Mike made sure we all had a good time and caught plenty of fish. We had a good balance of catching salmon, halibut, and rockfish. The boat was a very nice size with plenty of room inside and out. Nothing but compliments for Captain Mike and his crew. Town of Sitka was great as well, fantastic vacation overall.

2021 was great to finally get out, and our trip back to Sitka for fishing with Sea Roamer was a wonderful way to do it. Really lucky this year to limit both halibut and kings on two days. We love going back to fish with captain Mike.

I have fished a lot, for many years, including many trips with guides. Never, however, have I had an experience that equaled the one provided by the Sea Roamer duo, Mike and Eric. They know where and how to find the fish, and how to catch them. In our four days of fishing, we caught a LOT of fish, including at least 11 species. These included several large and one very large Halibut. These two men work hard to provide a great experience, are knowledgeable, friendly and personable. I hope I am lucky enough to go on more trips on the Sea Roamer in the future.
