Pioneer Bar & Liquor Store

This bar has been around for decades. In the off season it can be a pretty rough and tumble place. During the summer it caters to tourists mostly. Wide selection of beer, wine and liquor. Its one of two decent bars in town. Worth a try.

Ultimate bar in Sitka. Sit and have a beer with locals. Anthony Bourdain would love it. Also a liquor store connected, but there is no salesperson, you have to ask the bartender to come over.

A great place in Sitka for a relaxing drink and a quick snack. Tons of fabulous photos on the walls. Lots of locals frequent here, including Chester, a local from Sitka who brought us some of his canned smoked King Salmon. When you lookup dive bar in the dictionary it has a photo of the Pioneer Bar. They have a limited snack menu, but the mini-corndogs are a fun and tasty treat. They also have a good selection of brews on tap with wines and mixed drinks. The staff members are all very friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and efficient. One of the few places in Sitka that sells alcohol to go. Stop by for a fun time.

The P is a great cozy bar filled with awesome photos and friendly faces. Excellent service combined with a nice view of the boat harbor. It is a smoking friendly place but it's nostalgia and well maintained environment make up for the occasional cloud.

Bedecked with photos of fishing boats of yore, of halibut bigger than a man... A real local local. Two brave old men struck up a conversation, they'd never met a Yorkshireman before... Made for an interesting discussion. You should come and sample, friendly and worth it. No frills, a real bar - they set the clocks 15 mins fast making it easier to get the locals out at 2am. Made me laugh and think of home.

I met the love of my life at this majestic bar. Stinks like cigarettes and run down fishermen. Good times for sure! Usually there is only 1 bar tender and service is a little sliw. So go ahead and ring the bell for promt service when the bar is to crowded and you need to let em know that you and romulus are ready to get whiskey drunk right effen now.

Fun atmosphere, friendly service

For dive bar ambiance the Pioneer does not disappoint. After adjusting to the smoke filled haze enjoy the history and people, both are spectacular!

Excellent photos of boats. Some ship wrecks. The owners have owned it for around 60 plus years. Sitka Alaska. A must stop if your in Sitka
