River Rock Restaurant

We come to RR often for the burgers, atmosphere, their view of the River, and to check on Dave & Penny ...They have the best burgers & sandwiches in our end of the County & beyond...and the COLDEST beer anywhere! They greet the patrons, know most, and attend to all!
If you ride by at lunchtime, you'll see a crowded parking lot as testimony to their food & service to the working guys & gals of the area! Go early, call ahead, or take out so others can have a seat! They do the lunch crowd but shut the grill when the crowd leaves. A 2-person operation that has served our end of Roa County for many years; we dread any thoughts of not having The River Rock as a go to, comfort place, combing great ppl & outstanding short order the way it should be done! 4-star only b/c they don't stay open later (selfish on us), they sometimes are shut when they (apparently) go to a UVA Football Games, or just decide to not be there b/c they can ! Go see 'em!!!

Man oh man. This is so one of those secret little places that doesn't seem to exist but really does, doesn't it?
It does and if you can catch it open you're in for a treat. I don't know but I'm betting that those cheese burgers are cooked on one of those old cast iron grills that has been pregnated with beef juice for a long time. OH COLD BEER!! Yeah drinking these beers will just spoil the hell out of you.
To be honest I've only eaten there probably once in the last 20 years although I've caught trout on a fly more times around there than eaten there. That will change as of last Tuesday. My wife and I will be back, that's a promise and a threat at the same time. I'LL BE BACK with or without Tony Mimick cause now I know the secret.

Penny is awesome. The food is amazing. Don't let the UVA decore bother you. The food is worth it. 😋

One of our first stops when in town. Cold beer. Great food. Best burgers around. Nice place for relaxing lunch on the river. Owners are friendly and provide great service. Stopped in here several times a week when we lived here for years. Always look forward to stopping in for a cold brew &/burger and seeing Dave & Penny and other friends.

Awesome "mom and pop" style shop. Everyone you meet there is a friend... can't meet a stranger in this place. Good food, friendly faces, nice cozy atmosphere. Would certainly tell everyone I know to enjoy the River Rock at least once... they'll go back for seconds I'm sure!!! I would give them 1,000 stars of i could!!!

A great place to go and have a nice meal on the River banks. Very soothing and calming atmosphere. The burgers are great as well as the BLTs. there are others to try but I'm quite sure everything on the menu is good. Highly recommended

This place is absolutely awesome, they without a doubt have the most delicious, huge burgers, omgoodness!!!! You haven't had a real burger until you eat one from here!! No other comes close. Best burgers ever !!! A must try , you will not regret it, and you will be back , and you will tell everyone you know.

Good service! It's a mom-n-pop joint that's been around for a long time. The "Hot Rock" burger is fantastic! One of the best burgers I've ever had.

Yummy!! This place was a perfect stop on our way up highway 81. Really nice hospitality and more importantly delicious cheeseburgers! Still taste the goodness in our mouths.

Definately the best burgers in the area. I travel the entire US and this place is one that I repeat visits to. Friendly guests and friendly owners. Food has great flavor and prices are great. Definately worth the stop.

If you are a Uva fan this is a good place to go watch the games. The burgers are excellent and reasonably priced. Draft beers. Great place.
