Stayed here for many years while my son attended Longwood University. Our little paradise away from home. Close to school and town of FarmVille, reasonable accommodation and welcomes dogs as long as you pick up after them. Stan is a great guy and was always helpful. We have spent a few days to months here at times and it will always be our go back to place whenever we are in the area. Thanks for everything Stan!!

My family has been using Briery Creek Campground for a few years now. Our oldest son is attending Hampden Sydney College and this campground is less than five miles from campus. I am very thankful for Stan and his very neat campground. You do need to be self-contained since there is no bath house, but every site is 50amp full hookup. I use his campground when dropping off our son to college and during family weekends on campus. I'm not sure what we would do without this extremely convenient campground. Keep in mind the dates we visit everything as far as hotels are completely booked in Farmville. I have seen some of the other negative reviews, but we have had nothing but kindness from Stan and his wife. He does ask that you don't have a lot of items around the camper. He wants thing to be neat. If you notice some of the complaints they have items in the grass area. He obviously does not want items in the grass area because it prevents him from mowing that area. We certainly hope to continue to be able to use his campground several times a year for years to come. Especially since our younger son is showing interest in attending Hampden Sydney as well. Thank you for your continued kindness!

When we stayed it was great. We were visiting family in the area and the location was perfect! Mr. Stan the owner is very nice and friendly. He keeps everything clean and looking good. The other campers were all nice and friendly. Some of them invited us to join their cookout one evening while we were there.
We will definitely be back.

We had a great weekend! Perfect spot to stay when fishing the lake, heat/a/c,tv,beds, washer+dryer even tv. Driveways are even half circle so you can pull through with your boat. Recommend and will return.

Me and my wife have been living here full time since April of 2021 and we were new to the RV living lifestyle. Mr. Stan has been an absolute pleasure to work with. Since our first day here he has always helped us newbies with any issues as well as others who were already here. The park is always is maintained in excellent condition (working utilities, landscaping, gravel, water pressure ect). Mr. Stan's passion, professionalism, and customer service as an RV Park owner set our expectations incredibly high for future RV parks and services. This is an excellent getaway for the weekend or if you live full time. The full time neighbors are all very friendly and helpful as well, especially if you're new like we were. If you read any negative comments in the reviews I can attest that they came from some neighbors who were either blatantly violating the rules of the park or being incredibly disrespectful and hostile towards Mr. Stan. He was enforcing the rules that everyone agrees to when you come to the park (speed limits, clean areas, or quiet hours ect). This is a great location and plenty of space for your RV no matter the size. Best location in Farmville!

This is our 2nd time staying here. We love it because it's nice & quiet. Mr. Stan is the best. He's a very good guy and keeps the RV park very well manicured. We will definitely be back.

The RV park and cabins are very clean, landscaping is well maintained, lots of amenities, and close to boat landings! The owner is friendly and accommodating of your needs. I would recommend to anyone making a visit to Farmville or the surrounding areas; especially to those looking to hunt or fish!

Just the basics, nothing fancy. Sites are level, the place is clean with easy access. Very Reasonable price - especially if you stay long term.

RVers and Campers BEWARE!! The reviews on this place and the owner, STAN LYLES are all legit. He is very unstable and my family was frightened to be alone at night. I needed a place for three months and was really hesitant because of the reviews but it was close to where I was working and the price was right. I was charged $750 for the month and it had to be CASH ONLY. I worked at night and it was in the middle of a torturous hot July. The temps inside my camper were reaching 85-90 degrees while I was trying to sleep. My solution was to invest in sunshades for the two sides of the camper that got the most sun. Stan lended me a ladder and a drill to install the anchor points on the roof. The shades went up on Friday. 5 days later I get a text while at work. "What you have around your camper, I don't like it, I want it down". I replied back. "OK, No problem, I was just trying to battle the heat." The next morning I get another text. "TODAY Mr. Adkins". I'm an ICU nurse and work 12 hour shifts, so again I text back, "I worked last night and need to get some sleep. I'll have them down first thing in the morning." I knew I was going to have to find another place because this place doesn't have a single tree that can provide shade. So I get three texts from Stan, back to back, but I'm sleeping at this point. "Shades today" "Thank you!!" "Today now OK". When I don't respond he BANGS!! on my door at 1:00. I've been asleep an hour and a half. He's yelling and tells me to take them down NOW! I repeated to him that I need to sleep and will take care of them first thing in the morning. He is screaming at this point, losing his mind. He says, "Take them down now or I'll shut off your electric!". I said, "Stan, you can't do that it's illegal." He responds, "The hell I can't!" Then he disconnects my electric. I now have no AC, I've had no sleep, and the feel like temp outside is 106. I had to call the Sheriff out there to make Stan turn my electric back on and inform him of his liability and the repercussions should he not comply. DId I mention the night before, while he was texting me at work, my wife said he was driving through the park and kept circling the camper most of the night. She was scared to go outside. The two deputies that responded said this is a common occurrence with Stan and they've been out there multiple times to resolve conflicts when he's done the same thing to other people. I had to leave 10 days before the end of my first month with no reimbursement. I have an 18 month old foster child who is special needs and has respiratory problems. I couldn't risk another one of Stan's episodes and losing my AC. One prior review mentions an encounter with an interracial couple that he had turned away before even renting to them. I can't help but speculate that the day before this all happened my wife and kids, who aren't normally with me, arrived for the last week of their summer vacation. The special needs foster child is African American, and we are not. If necessary you can request a copy of the police report CFS PECF523-04788, Deputy Graves #97. If possible, I'll also post pics of his almost empty RV park and shades that he lost his mind over. The entire 20 days there was just me and another RVer that I think was working off his rent by helping Stan keep up with the weeds. If you chance it with Stan and have a similar experience please post it so that others are aware. I wouldn't be surprised if one day, things get physical.

For anyone coming to the Virginia area where Stanley is the overseer he is super nice until you have an issue with something in the park like your water line freezing two times told him I was moving. He assumed I was moving to another space and called me back and told me if I was moving to just pack my stuff and get out of the park with no refund of my money, I was only in the park for seven days out of 30. Anyone come into this area use this place is a last resort.
I am definitely seeking legal action against Mr. Stanley and I are at the park in my book. It is a scam and Stanley definitely needs communication and just basic people skills.

We called for a spot…couldn’t get ahold of him he so we pulled into campground, someone worker gave us his number…we called him, and said he wanted a 2 night minimum (it was a Thursday night)…he was very rude…we were only passing thru in our travels…there were lots of spots available…he said we would owe him $80 for one night!!! Needless to say….we left!!! Steer clear of this place!!
