Crab cake sandwich was very good (I’m originally from Maryland, so standards are high). The fries were delicious and crispy and the Come Back sauce indeed may make me come back. The fried flounder was great as well for the day’s special. I was very taken aback by the ambiance, which was cozy, spacious, and modern on the inside. Our server was fantastic as well. Great place for lunch!

We ate at some fine establishments during our 4 day/3 night sojourn to the Outer Banks. This was probably our favorite. We sat outside. Service was absolutely fantastic. We went with Oysters Rockefeller (probably the best version I have ever had), a huge plate of chicarones with a vinegar dip and some smoked trout dip with fried pita. We all got the Orange smash with fresh squeezed OJ and orange flavored vodka and prosecco. Just an awesome place. My favorite of the trip!

What a fun, refreshing stop my husband and I enjoyed at the Tavern before we got on the Hatteras ferry! The food was delicious, the service was fun and friendly, and the atmosphere was, well, hometown tavern. We enjoyed the loaded burger (with pulled pork and onion rings on top) and the delicious Caesar salad with tuna steak- as well as the peanut butter pie. Our waiter, Kristin, was awesome!

One of our favorite places to eat at while on vacation in Hatteras! Our waitress was great and welcoming and nice to chat with. She took great care of us which we appreciated. We started off with a basket of the best hushpuppies we had on vacation. They came with a delicious dipping sauce! I had the shrimp tacos and they were the best I've ever had in my life!! They were FULL of delicious shrimp! I was leary of the beans and rice because they have black eyed peas in them, but they were delicious and I recommend anyone try them and be pleasantly surprised. My husband had the shrimp platter and raved about how delicious his meal was. Everything was fresh and prepared perfectly. The restaurant is super clean had an easy going laid back vibe which is our speed. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend!

First time to Hatteras and I will be back to Tavern on 12! I was looking for a local eatery with moderate pricing that had a bit of everything and this hit the spot. Wow. I got the poke bowl with a large portion of tuna and the toppings were lovely. Definitely a bit loud with the busy-ness in there but that was to be expected. Great place to go :)

I have been down to the hatteras area for almost 20 years and amazingly never went here until this year...DON'T BE LIKE ME! This place had great food options and was a great fit for anyone making the trip up or down the island. I wasn't fond of the hush puppies and reddish sauce that came with them but all else was very tasty. Their hours were also accommodating when many other places were closed. Take a look at some of the pictures and you will find a great variety.

Our waitress Bella was incredibly sweet! We walked there from Frisco Woods Campground (right next door) and we were there at 5pm on a Friday night and the place was packed! We were seated quickly and even though it was packed we didn’t wait long to place our order and our drinks were never empty. We ordered the Trashcan Nachos which loaded and enough for our party of four to share. I had the Rocket Salad with added shrimp and it was the BEST salad I’ve ever had! I eat a lot of salads and THIS was amazing! My daughter is gluten free and the menu was very accommodating to that. We will go here again for sure!

This has to be one of the most delicious pizzas I've ever had in the US. Brick oven goodness, hot honey, the basil ricotta.... it was hard to top this meal. Seriously.

We are so happy we stopped in to this gem! Food was outstanding and the service, even better! Nickita (nick) was our server and couldn’t have made our experience any more pleasant. Amazing atmosphere, service and food. HIGHLY recommend! Ask for Nick :)

i have been in hatteras a week and have eaten here twice! yes it is that good! and the service can't be beat! thanks for making me feel at home both times. i got the oysters them the pizza- highly recommend both!

Incredible! There’s a reason this place stays open during the “off season” Our waiter was very personable and kind, the bartender was killing it taking tables and making drinks like a pro. They had the smoked fish dip, Ruben pizza and fish n crab bisque on special and it was all extremely delicious and well thought out. A little out of the way from everything else but walking distance from the campground next door and well worth the visit!

Great service, friendly and efficient. Food was awesome! We had an assortment of food. The crab cake sandwich was superb, mostly crab and very little “cake.” The pork rinds were fresh and tasty! The trash can nachos were awesome. Big portions and everyone left full. Definitely a come back place!

Thank you for being open in the off-season! Friendly service and good food. Shrimp poboy and crab cake sandwiches were good. Other items on the menu looked good too. The place was packed with quick service. I would eat here again.

My husband & I discovered this great restaurant in May 2020 in the heart of the pandemic & have returned annually since then with our most recent visit on May 27, 2022. We actually came here 3 times during our week at the beach! The food is excellent, pizzas are brick oven baked which I LOVE! The crab margarita pizza is my favorite. Last night I had the tuna tacos which were top notch, cooked exactly as ordered. Two tacos are in a serving & they were full of tuna!
They have draft beer with a large selection of local beers. Servers & bartenders are personable. We make this a must stop place every year—highly recommend!

Popped into Tavern 12 on a Sunday afternoon as we were cruising around the Outer Banks enjoying the sun and good weather. Very pleasantly surprised at the food and how clean the entire restaurant was. I had a NC BBQ and fresh onion ring topped 1/2 pound bruger with fries and a Pernicious IPA on tap to wash it down.

Highly recommend stopping by and checking out Tavern on 12 to cure all your hungry needs!

Best food eaten at a restaurant in a long time. I usually regret my choice but not tonight. I had fried Spanish Mackerel, which I had never seen on a restaurant menu before, and it was so delicious. Everything I ordered tasted wonderful. The server was very personable and attentive to our needs. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience and would go back in a heartbeat.

Great experience. Not to mention it was New Years Day and we were starvin. Awesome food. Tuna tacos. Brick oven pizza. Great staff. Delicious Mexican Chocolate Stout from a local brewery.

Wonderful pizza Friday dinner at Tavern on the 12, Frisco NC. Kaylee our bartender was awesome! They had a good selection of local beers and Kaylee could sling a wicked margarita. They had perfect fresh Chicharones. We chose to have them plain and they were still popping when they arrived. The dipping sauce was NC barbecue sauce like. Being BBQ judges we tried the three pig pizza. The pesto sauce pizza was topped with sausage, bacon, an abundance of NC BBQ, onion, and jalapeno. We thought the jalapeno added an interesting ‘bite’. The BBQ was very tasty on the pizza. They describe it as an individual pizza but it’s a two person pizza 🍕. Can’t say enough about how responsive Kaylee was even when they got really busy. She worked the room and the food rocked it!

Wonderful place, staff, service and food! We came across this place by chance and so glad we did! We arrived just minutes before they opened and in less than an hour there was a line outside the door! The "local" ladies told us they go every Tuesday and everything on the menu was great. They were right! We were a group of 10 and everything was great including our server!

Found it by mistake. The service was great even though our server said it was only her 3rd day. The hot honey pizza was amazing. The tomato basil soup was perfect. Will absolutely keep in our vacation list.
