El Refran Mexican Buffet

The food that I tried was delicious, the nopalitos cooked in three different ways were my favorite, like tasting my moms and aunts cooking, the pork ribs in green sauce 😋 I definitely will be coming back for more.

Wow, this place is incredible. Came on a Saturday morning, and they had the full buffet at 9am.

Huge selection and authentic as it gets. Favorites were homemade tortillas, catfish soup, pork in green sauce, mole, barbacoa, guacamole, cerviche, chili rellenos, and the ground beef.

Really special place.

Highly recommended Mexican buffet restaurant! El Refran serves authentic Mexican cuisine with a wide variety of choices. I love how they offer you grilled steaks and chicken combined with corn or flour tortillas. The employees also try their best in comforting you and checking in every now and then. This restaurant also serves delicious drinks such as Jarritos and Horchatas. Great place to try!

Well let start by saying this is the best kept secret in Farmers Branch. We found this restaurant by mistake and it was the best mistake we ever made in food choice. When we walked in we were greeted with a smile as if you were coming into someone home. They have many food choices and it's all FRESH and made with love in the kitchen like you mother is cooking it for you. The only thing I can say is that if you don't come eat here you will be missing out. You will leave here with a full stomach and a smile on your face.

It's probably the most authentic mexican food you could find in Dallas.
The food is delicious and the staff is friendly and promptly.
The corn tortillas are freshly baked, and the horchata beverage quench your tirst.

Easily the best Mexican buffet I've ever been to. If you're in the area you should give it a try many mexican dishes made correctly laid out in a wonderful buffet with amazing service. You could not find a better Mexican buffet. And I say that truthfully. Thank you to the staff and cooks of El Refran. I will be back with friends and family ready to eat!

The food was so good! Service was awesome!! So many options, we were stuffed! Not many dessert options. I was hoping for tres leche, flan or donuts or ice cream but none of those were options. But I'll be back again for sure!

Decided to try this Mexican buffet because I'd heard good things about it and it did not disappoint. The staff was friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was very cozy, it's not a huge place but it's well set up. The food was delicious and fresh, I will definitely recommend this place to everyone I know and the price was decent. Overall a great experience so come down to "el refran" if you love authentic Mexican food.

Food is really good and as authentic as it gets. Many soups and different entrees to choose from and the manager and staff are always very friendly and attentive. Always clean and buffet is always stocked as well as fruit/dessert and salad bar.

Home made tortillas, caldo de camarón it’s a must have (spicy , made with big real shrimp and full of flavor) delicious tortitas de camarón among others savory Mexican dishes with the old recipe flavor, once you try it… you will come back for more!

No complaints about anything I've tried. They remove old food from the line. A lot of buffets don't do this. Very friendly and attentive wait staff.

We have traveled all over the United States and have frequented many restaurants and buffets. That being said, even though this was a buffet, it was the best Mexican food my husband and I have ever had (and mexican food is our favorite). We typically prefer tex mex but after eating here, we will be open to trying more traditional mexican fare. Not only was there a wide selection of foods and desserts, the service was incredible. To add to the experience, they bring fresh, hot tortillas...corn or flour or both. The price was so reasonable, too. Wonderful! We will be back again...as soon as our stomachs will allow 😉

I love the authentic Mexican food, great molé! The ceviche is spicy and delicious, we always get treated well and the staff is always attentive. FYI the morning is not a buffet. It is plated and they can be very slow. Come in the afternoon for the buffet it is much better.

Each time I visit El Refran, my experience feels like I’m at home with the foods featured on the buffet line. These dishes are what I grew up with including chicken mole, chile rellenos, costillas de puerco, fideo, menudo (on weekends), and other typical Mexican cuisine. The corn tortillas are homemade, The guacamole is fresh, the ceviche is tasty, and the salsas will appeal to every sense of taste, from mild to hot. You’ll love the aguas frescas which include horchata, Jamaica, pepino con limón, or sandia. Desserts include rice pudding, flan, brownies, Mexican sweet breads, and other pastries. Spend some time here and savor the goodness of El Refran.
