The Carpenter Hotel is one of my favorite spots in Austin. From the food, to the service, to the rooms themselves - this is such a great spot and the location is fantastic for those visiting Austin. Prices for rooms vary but are generally affordable for the amenities they offer ($200-300 range is average)

The property itself is so beautiful with tons of trees and a small, well maintained pool. The service is always amazing and as a repeat visitor I’m always thanked for coming back :)

Be sure to stay here if you have the opportunity!

I tried to book one of the fancier hotels in downtown and prices were crazy. Did a google search and found the Carpenter. Prices much more reasonable. Loved everything about my stay, I’m no longer staying at the fancy downtown hotels.

The reception was friendly, the rooms are super roomy, the design is stunningly cool. A nice Bluetooth speaker that booms. The bed is very comfortable and they have a well functioning blackout screen. I had a drink at the coffee bar, and breakfast in the same place and loved all of it. I am coming back soon to hang out at the pool.

My new favorite Austin hotel.

Our stay at the Carpenter was fantastic. We booked late in the night, rolled up not knowing what to expect - the service was amazing. Everyone was great, the rooms are beautiful. Seems like every surface is raw materials - it’s grounding and lovely. Highlight of the stay was Drew at the desk! He was so helpful and easy to talk to! Someone promote this guy! We are lucky for this experience. Thanks y’all!

Came to eat at the little dinner down stairs and had the best muscles shishito peppers and cheese cake I’ve ever had in my life. Sarah was the best. She was so sweet and knowledgeable. Will be back soon!

Not what I was expecting. This area of Austin is undergoing "changes". Some good, some not so good. This location was easy to find and kind of uneasy when we pulled up. (Have lived here for 29 years, just never stayed downtown prior). Once you step inside, that uneasiness goes away. You're transported back to the '60's. Or at least that was the vibe I got. Cute lobby, not screaming at you, just subtly welcoming. This place was originally a meeting hall and that's a cool vibe it still maintains.

After checking in, you wander through an open courtyard area over a boardwalk, through lush greenery to the main building of rooms. Cinder block walls, metal sculptured design stairs, and an elevator to take you up if you prefer. We like the open air stairs (mind you, it was December, NOT August! Lol)

Cement walls, floor and ceiling were the makeup of the room, with amenities to soften the overall industrial feel (which we happen to like.).

You're downtown in a big city so there's a little noise, but nothing that really bothered us.

It was a nice experience and we would do it again.

We enjoyed our stay and loved that the company cared about our stay and upgraded us to a single king room to help celebrate my boyfriend's birthday. This was the touch that we loved the most. They didn't have to, but they did and it went a long way. The robes were magical!! We also liked the earthy toiletries that were provided during our stay. I cannot wait to go to Austin and stay here again. The coffee we had from the cafe the following morning was fantastic. We didn't visit the restaurant, but look forward to it in future stays.

My favorite place to stay in austin! We found this place because it was listed on Fido as dog friendly and they were so accommodating and friendly. Rooms are super comfy and chill and the food near by is so good.

I’m obsessed! Every person we came in contact with at the hotel as well as the restaurant was so incredibly kind and helpful. Especially Andy and Drew at the front desk - they both were so great. We loved our time at the Carpenter and will definitely be back!

Just a lovely, down-to-earth hotel with delicious food & bev, friendly staff, and in a great location— near the river & park trails and out of the hectic vibes of south congress, but still close. Didn’t use the pool this visit but when I come back in the hotter months, it’ll be great to have.

Great boutique hotel near Zilker Park, bike trails, restaurants, etc. We didn't really drive our car much once we parked it at the hotel, very easy to take an Uber from the hotel or just walk/bike. I'd highly recommend the Carpenter if you're looking for a place in Austin

My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting Austin for the Formula1 races(2023). While browsing for places to stay, we found this very unique hotel, with our shared name. Of course, we had to stay.

We booked easily. They allowed us to early check-in (Thank You). We were greeted by Cassandra's warm and friendly smile. We had a great conversation and then off to our room. Along the way, we enjoyed every step through all of the spaces filled with a fun and unique combination of materials creating beautiful spaces. From the entry, past the gift boutique, through the doors into this amazing outdoor space with an area for the coffee bar, past the outdoor dining room of their restaurant, down this fun planked path to the elevators. A brief lift up, and we were at our room.

Our room was very nice and had a beautiful green foliage wall of privacy from our balcony. The use of nice linens and down products on the bedding was so much enjoyed. We felt right at home!! The bed was very comfortable, we zonked right out every night. Oh yeah, the dark door!! There was a sliding door to totally black out the room. That was a very nice extra touch of perfection!!

All of the spaces were nicely decorated and their use of logo was so tastefully incorporated throughout. The Carpenter Hotel also offered Hemp Code self care products for use and for sale in their boutique. We completely enjoyed them so much, we bought all 4 to take home. I highly recommend!!

The restaurant within had a very nice menu and every meal we highly enjoyed. Our favorite was their turkey club. Oh my deliciousness!! I highly recommend!! Also, there were a large variety of eateries within walking distance. Which was a complete delight with the variety of options.

We enjoyed ourselves with every aspect of the Carpenter Hotel. I highly recommend a visit, no matter the length of stay. I can't wait to revisit!!♡♡♡

Caleb was so nice to us down at the bar. In line with other bunkhouse hotels, that being very curated, the vibes are excellent, and design of every detail is precise. Had an amazing time. Great pool too!

I didn’t stay at the hotel (yet) but had an issue with my reservation that they resolved seamlessly without having too.

Can't say enough about this place. Stellar experience every time I stay here and it's so close to everything. Not a "family" hotel so not designed with amenities for children and that is 100% okay with me since I use it for work.

The hotel is beautiful, so many details in the decor to give it a midcentury-modern Austin vibe. The courtyard is an airy green oasis. The staff were pleasant and polite. The pool was calm and relaxing. We got an excellent night sleep! The blackout rolling wall was a detail I’ve never seen before. The robes available add a level of luxury.

We went to Austin back in March and stayed at the JW. I told my woman it was too busy. Too hectic. Too many people. We wanted something smaller and more chill for our next trip in July. I found The Carpenter and we decided to give it a shot. It was above and beyond what we expected. 4 floors only with parking garage/lot only for the guest. Great Cafe built in. Awesome little coffee bar with a pretty sweet lounge area for all the guest. We loved our room and the bathroom was stunning as well. Not sure how people are calling it a prison when you see the photos/layout of the room you reserved. We stayed in the queen room and everything we saw in the photos, was in the room. Great location as well. There is a Thoms Market walking distance from them and also a few other food places and gas station. Nice RELAXING pool area. We will definitely be staying there again. Loved that this place is tucked away from all the city hustle. Definitely will be staying there every time we go to Austin moving forward.

I haven’t stayed here but have eaten at the restaurant and come for happy hour. Great vibes, cute patio and well made cocktails by a highly trained looking bartender (cute too)

My first time in Austin and staying at the Carpenter Hotel was truly unforgettable. Cassandra at check-in made us feel incredibly welcome, and Olivia was always there to help with our questions. The room had a fantastic style, and the coffee shop and restaurant were not only convenient but also amazing. Our dinner at Carpenters Hall on the first night was a real treat, thanks to Matt, our server, who gave us fantastic recommendations. Andy at the front desk was a treasure trove of information, suggesting great things to do in Austin and showing us some of the town's coolest spots. We can't wait for our next visit!

Service was great and our waitress (Brittain) was awesome! I threw some cocktails at her that most bars would ask me what's in that or tell me they don't have that. Instead she asked me if I had a preference of gin or bourbon. 💚 She not only knew what I wanted, but knew what went in it. THAT'S awesome service to me! So many places I've been to have no idea what classic cocktails are.
