The Shanty Restaurant

I went with my significant other for an early Valentine’s Day celebration and had a wonderful time at the Shanty. The food was delicious. For drinks, we ordered the hurricane and it had the perfect amount of alcohol. The ambiance was nice. The seating arrangement was great because we weren’t too close to other tables and I did not feel claustrophobic. The service was phenomenal. Our food was served quick. Our waitress, Erin, was very attentive and she did not make us feel rushed to order. Our water was refilled without us asking. The price for everything we ordered was reasonable. I would certainly come back again.

Fantastic again! Always! Such a great atmosphere always great service and the food is just out of this world!! We haven't been here in a while but nothing has changed still probably the best restaurant in Northern Illinois! We both had seafood and it was just fabulous our server was very nice friendly helpful You want a great meal this is one place you should put on your list!

First off the food was amazing.. full of flavor nothing was left over that's for sure. Now too the service side our sever Emily was great joyful and a help . Then we had Larissa who sat us down and check up on us with a great big smile loved that hospitality and then when we got to the shanty abbi was sweet and helped us get seats 10/10 recommend this place 😀

My grandma has been going here for decades and one of her 2 favorite places. We had a great time taking her. Desserts & drinks were my favorite. Also they have a small shop with olive oil and skin care products that make great gifts.

Weekend lunch ☺ awesome experience. First time visiting The Shanty but definitely not the last time what an amazing ambience, great service ,great food and atmosphere .The staff are all so warm and welcoming 🌞 . This place is my go to place from now on whenever I feel I need to give a treat to myself 💕.
Great place for family get togethers and office parties too.

Decided to try a new restaurant for my daughter’s birthday and glad we did. Erika was our server and her customer service was out of this world. Not only was she knowledgeable about the menu she suggested many tasty options. It felt like she knew what we needed even before we did! Her energy was contagious and my family of 3 really enjoyed dining here because of her! On top of great customer service the food was amazing. The meal started with super soft bread which was great. We were lucky to be here on a Friday so we tried the fish fry. The walleye and cod were amazing. Fish fry also came with a soup which was clam chowder and that was also equally delicious. Prices were great for the quality and portions of the food! Recommend making a reservation we got lucky on the time we arrived but the place definitely got busier as we left.

Great food and the service was 5 star! Busy, yet only had to wait a few minutes to be seated. The kitchen and wait staff were fantastic and food orders arrived quickly.

A fantastic restaurant that we discovered just recently. Beautiful decor, very tasty food, and several wonderful staff members that made our visit very good. I wish there was a location in western suburbs where I live! Would definitely recommend! You will not be disappointed.

Wonderful and now very roomy Lake County family run business. There will be something on the menu that you will like, anything from burgers to fancy restaurant style seafood offerings, all in a very comfy rustic setting. Staff is great and so is the alcohol. Very popular place so try making reservations if possible. And if you have a sweet tooth, try the Lemon Drop Martini for liquid dessert!

We stopped on our way to WI. and were glad we did, instead of eating fast food. The food was great. We had the pasta and calamari appetizer. A bit pricey for lunch but worth it. I would recommend this restaurant.

My husband and I went to celebrate my one year being cancer free. He had the pork chops and I had the snapper. At the end of our meal the server surprised me when she brought out a brownie cupcake with ice cream. The ambiance is fabulous. Great place for a special occasion.

Hidden gem!!! Has some local history that makes this restaurant legit per its longevity. We had the charcuterie board - tastes awesome!! Clam chowder - lots of clams!! Side salad was huge and a great variety of different vegetables!! Had the fish fry (cod) - definitely fresh fish that is freshly fried... and lots of pieces!!! Worth every penny for the quality and quantity! I would come here weekly, if it wasn't so far from Downers Grove

I love how the bar area was decorated for the holiday! We were seated right away in one of the last tables there, and given a small loaf of warm foccia bread. It took a while for our waitress to come to the table, but she was attentive once she did visit us. It was my second time here, and the food was just as delicious as I remembered. Nice visit, good drink specials. We were to full for dessert, though!

Oh My is this place awesome! This was the first time I had been there since the addition was put on. It is a wonderful place great food and the servers were great too. This place was packed and everyone was moving double time to keep up. Decorated for the holidays very tastefully. I had the calamari it was great comes with marinara I suggest to request shrimp sauce and the burger I had was juicey and delicious as well.

Pleasantly surprised at this place. I've driven past it forever and never went in. Made reservations tonight for dinner and the hostess was super friendly checking us in and getting us sat pretty quickly. Right after sitting at our table the waitress was quick to bring out water and bread to get us started while we looked at the menu. First of all their bread is so delicious when it is warm. They had me with that from the start. Pretty simple menu with great presentation and taste though. Ordered their Beet crostini for an appetizer and it was wonderfully made. I was not expecting it to taste so divine. For my main dish I had their plant based burger. There's only so much you can do with a plant based burger but it was still pretty good. I didn't have room for dessert but when our waitress said they had apple crumbcake cheesecake I KNEW I had to try it and man I'm do glad I did. It is the perfect blend of the two. I'd definitely go back and try some different things.

Great place for a good meal. Atmosphere is nicely set. Limited parking but larg eating area. East and West sides inside. This restaurant has been top notch for well over 30 years.
The Owner catered the food for my Wedding in 2009 and "Everyone" Loved the food.

Larisa, the manager was gracious and friendly to my party and I. I accidentally booked a reservation to a restaurant in Road Island with the same name.. thanks Google. She was able to honor that reservation still and found our party a spot on a busy Friday night. The food we ate was great, as usual and the workers were all quick and friendly. Our party got multiple drinks, all of which were great.

Wanted to try a new place last Tuesday while visiting family and found this hidden gem. The food and service were both amazing. The bartender , Danielle, was so knowledgeable on the menu, what they offered, and was so attentive throughout our dinner, we were really impressed. She suggested the ahi tuna and it did not disappoint. It was so fresh and melted in my mouth.

if your thinking about eating at the shanty, just do it! And request danielle! You will not be disappointed

drinks are yummy, and food even more delicious. got a steak that was perfectly cooked, a bunch of apps, and the poor mans lobster. all was delish!
