ParkLands Hayes Woods Preserve

Beautiful trail nestled in Secor, IL. No one else was on the trail when I went on a Friday morning. I saw two does at multiple different points on the trail. There were leaves scattered on the ground, so they would hear me coming and jet off. I also so a bald eagle on the river, which was a majestic sight to say the least. The hike took me about 25-30 minutes with walking very slowly and admiring the surroundings. It’s a loop that starts on a bluff, goes down to the river, then back up. When you come to the loop, (about 100 yards from the parking area) I suggest turning right and coming back up the left side. Overall, great trail.

Beautiful tranquil preserve. Great for birding and a relaxing circle hike!

Comfortable 1.3 mile loop that turned into 1.7 after wandering the expansive river bottom. This loop is the only trail available, but ravine overlooks and multiple views of the Mackinaw River make for a great hike. The drop in and out of the bottoms are steep enough to catch the attention of anyone with mobility challenges, but otherwise a comfortable walk with wide, defined trails.

Had a great hike with my husband. Quiet park with moderate trails.

A great place for a short hike up and down to the river. Reasonable footing going up and down. The trail is a loop at the beginning. Good for bird watching , lots of deer

First time here, and with a friend. Cool place to explore, paths are clearly present, although there is brush and sometimes fallen trees to step around/over. You probably won't see anybody else lurking around during your walk so bringing company with you is advisable.
