Drove by on my way to hotel and wanted to try something new to me. Good food, fast service, and very friendly staff. The young lady who took my order was patient and recommended the house made chili.

Great experience and delicious food!

What a pleasant surprise! Pulled off for gas and food. Saw that Runza had cars in the drive through and no other fast food in the area did. So we decided to give it a try! So Delicious and different from the rest. I had the Runza meal with Swiss and Mushrooms, hubby had the cheeseburger meal. So glad we went with our instincts. If we are ever near another one we will definitely stop in. Oh and I usually don’t like crinkle fries but these were crispy and delicious. 😋

This review is less for the Runza and more for the staff. Traveling between Colorado and Nebraska I almost always stop at this Runza, often on my own with 2 kids (3, 1). The bathrooms are always clean and the staff is so kind. They have helped bring high chairs to the table, brought our food out to us so I could easier manage the kids. Just genuinely kind and lovely people. Food is always tasty and a Swiss mushroom Runza after a long car ride with Raffi songs on repeat always helps recenter me.
Side note: the changing table is in the stall in the bathroom which has been very handy for solo traveling with kids bathroom breaks!

Never heard of a Runza before.
The Runza is a beef and seasoned cabbage hogie type sandwich which comes in several varieties. No cheese, cheese or mushroom. The flavor of the Runza reminded me of a white castle burger with cabbage added. I really enjoyed trying it out.
We also got a bacon cheeseburger. The flavor of the burger remined me of a old carhop restaurant in my hometown. Took me back. It was yummy. Would get both again.
The vanilla shake had a perfect flavor, but it was hard to drink at first because it was so thick.
I really appreciated the "frings" (fries and onion rings mixed) as a side option because I have a hard time deciding which to get sometimes. The onion rings were salty and crunchy. Really good. Crinkle cut fries were good and crispy but needed salt IMO.
Over all was really fun to try something new. Would go back.

Stopped in while traveling through Nebraska. Our family has never eaten at a Runza Restaurant before, but we love bierocks so we decided to try it out. First off the guy working the front end counter was so nice & friendly! He helped explain what everything was and delivered the food and extra condiments to our table once it was ready. The food was hot and flavorful. I liked being able to get fries & onion rings together (called frings) versus having to choose one or the other. The runza was nothing like homemade but still very delicious and a nice alternative to just a burger. The atmosphere was nice with old pictures from the franchise beginning and quotes on the walls. Lots of dining space and all looked clean. Restrooms were clean and decent. Thank you for providing this road wearing family a little break! It was well worth our stop!

Our first visit to Runza and yes, the burgers are legendary! The onion ring french fry combo is a great idea! The homemade ice cream sandwiches are 😋! Yummy!

Runza is one of those regional fast food chains that you can only find in a specific state whilst roaming an interstate highway.

Recently, I tried Runza for the first time whilst driving home from the Eastern United States Coast and was met with one in Kearney off of Interstate 80.

I ordered the Classic Runza Sandwich with Cheese and the Runza-exclusive Frings, both of which were indeed delicious and also heavy in that of flavor. The service for this specific establishment was amazing, and the cashier knew what to specifically do when it came to the ordering process and delivering our takeout order to us.

The atmosphere of this said location is also rustic, yet also very modern. In terms of the worker atmosphere, workers here are nice, yet relatively direct in the process as well.

Overall, I will indeed return to Runza in the future and will for certain be recommending this establishment to those looking for amazing regional fast food.

While prepping for our road trip, I found that Runza is popular in Nebraska, and having never heard of it, let alone tried it, we decided to make sure we ate it while in the state. The Runza Restaurants get relatively good reviews, so we stopped by the one on 2nd Ave / 8th St. in Kearney.
John K. (the name on the receipt) greeted me as I walked in. I told him I had never tried Runza before and he kindly and patiently explained what it was and what the different sandwich options were. He was proud of the fact that everything is made fresh each morning.
I opted for the classic with cheese and onion rings and really enjoyed both. The bread was soft and fresh and the filling had a great flavor. The onion rings were probably the best I’ve ever had at a fast food restaurant with the perfect amount of crisp breading.
If there was a Runza Restaurant near home (north of Seattle), I’d probably become a regular.

Better than cane's. The flavor of the chicken strips, and how they breaks apart so easily. Not chewy what so ever. First place in chicken strips in a restaurant I've been at...

I wasn't sure what to expect. We ate here on my sister's recommendation. YUM! We ate different varieties of the Runza. We will be back again and again.

With fries better than In-N-Out, fresh burger buns, and runza that made my wife nostalgic for her mom's homemade bierocks, super glad we stopped here on our way through Nebraska.

It was a bit messy and staff was bored but service and atmosphere were fine.

First time here, passing through Nebraska. Quite surprised to find fresh in-house bread for the buns! Food was food for the price, staff was friendly and dining area was clean. Would recommend!

It was a delicious sandwich in the loose meat tradition of MaidRite and NuWay, but they chop up some cabbage into the meat besides. I got mine with pepper jack and bacon. They let you mix an order of onion rings and fries, "frings." Reasonable price for the portion size.

The customer service here was very exceptional. The employees were very friendly. They came to the register in a timely manner. If you would ask a question they would answer and describe the best they could. I noticed they would go the extra mile to make someone happy. The only real complaint I have is the seasoning was too much. The fries were over salted, as well as the sandwiches.

First time trying this place during a road trip. Really good stuff. Don't forget to grab an ice cream sandwich. So good.
