I have to say it was quite impressive for me because there are not a lot of Puerto Rican food restaurants with that authentic flavor from the island.
I ordered arroz con gandules (pigeon peas rice) with Pernil (roasted pork) and platano Amarillo (and yellow plantain). *I ordered this because it is an authentic dish from Puerto 🇵🇷 just to try out the flavor*
It was delicious!
Then I tried one yuca alcapirria (stuff casava fritter) it was delicious too, crunchy and with meat from tip to tip just like my Mother used to make it.

Recommended if you like authentic Puerto Rican food give it a try.

Drive in from Staten Island for this. Literally on my way right now, at this point we’re going once a week. Nothing compares, authentic and full of flavor. Tastes just like my abuelitas, and never have to worry about the carne guisada being too fatty. Service is quick, but the flavors are ones that take time and care. And those platano chips to start, perfect. One of my top tens, amazing!

I had the Jibarito Sliders and they were awesome! The service was very nice and super friendly. I can’t wait to come back!

Pollo Guisado was very tasty. The chicken was tender and juicy. The plantain chips and salsa they give as a starter was very good too. Service was great.

As soon as I walked in you smell the authentic Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 food, the decor and atmosphere feels like your in San Juan, but the food is 100% pure home cooking like your abuela made it and I have tried alot of 🇵🇷 restaurants all over , what makes this one special above all is all there desserts are made in house and by far are the best I have ever had here in New Jersey. I highly recommend you all try this place.

L for a long time I never feeling that way been feeling this restaurant is for nice. The service is so great everyone very welcome beautiful beautiful songs very low so we can talk with your family with your friends not yelling , another event happen, the same time ,
Birthday party Family reunion , is a lot is going on but everyone in very good mood respectful no worries definitely definitely give them 5 stars these restaurants. Make me feel home. And by the way, the food is amazing. Amazing. Amazing yummy yummy.

Came for lunch. Service was very attentive. Food was so tasty! There were complimentary plantain chips with a dip that was so good. I ordered pernil with rice and beans. The quality was great. Came with a side salad with a cilantro dressing that was yummmmy!

The most AMAZING FOOD i had the whole time i was in Jersey and New York. I recommend this place 10 out of 10. Id come here every day if i lived here. The flavors are amazing and the portion sizes made you feel like you were at grandmas house. The service was amazing and sweet and fast. Thank you so much

My friend and I were in the area so we as Puerto Rican women we wanted to get some good food. We decided to grab appetizers to take home. I ordered the sorullitos , an order of alcapurrias & some arroz con gandules. DELICIOUS !! My grandma used to make soruillos as a kid so it good to eat some. The alcapurrias are my fav kinda frituras especially de yuca! The dip was incredible I’m not exactly sure what it was but it was amazing. My boyfriend loved it. And he enjoyed the rice too. It’s his fav kind. Def a cute spot. They were super friendly. When I’m in the area I’m sitting to eat.

Went here for the first time tonight with my girlfriend and we were blown away by the food. I ordered bistec encebollado and she got the pernil and both dishes were hot, fresh and out of this world. We saved room for dessert (coconut flan and the best tres leches I’ve ever had) and I’m glad we did because it was amazing. Our server Lena was friendly, helpful and very attentive and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. Definitely coming back again and again and my girlfriend, who is Puerto Rican, is bringing her family. I wish o could give them 10 stars!

The food is delicious! My family and I love Surrender Cafe. The service is incredible, but the food is even better! We highly recommend everything.

My family and I love this spot. The food is always great, staff is very friendly and it remains consistent. For the area, best Spanish food around.

All I can say is wow all my south Jersey people you have to come to this spot and if you willing on travel this is the spot food was delicious thumbs up when you trying hit me up this is my new spot

Service was great, very welcoming staff. Food overall was excellent. Homemade hot sauce was the best! The only complaint I have is that the red beans side I received seemed slightly undercooked. The beans had some bite to them and they were in a quite brothy liquid which I am not used to in Puerto Rican cuisine. Otherwise the rice, pernil, and churrasco steak were excellent. The alcapurria was made to order and tasted amazing. Empanadas were also well seasoned and the meat was juicy inside! Looking forward to trying some other items they offer.

Food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed their dish. Great kids menu, staff was great, & appetizer dish was soooo good! 1st time there, definitely will be back!

Our experience with Surrender Cafe was outstanding. Our first time ordering from the catering menu, their Staff was very friendly, informative and helpful. A good variety of food selections and our orders were handled with much care and pride. As for the food it was absolutely Delicious, truly it stands to its Autentic Puerto Rican Cuisine with its flavor, fresh homemade food and welcoming atmosphere. This is not a fancy place with dialed down flavor - it's a casual BYOB spot with warm and efficient service and a great selection of DELICIOUS Puerto Rican food. Good for dine in or take out. They are always on point. Don't know what dishes to mention because I like them all. Had the churrasco this time and it was just right with rice, beans and tostones. Yum is all I can say.

If you're looking for a comment to convince you, that's me. I'm a selfish local telling you, you should eat here to keep a beloved local spot alive and well.

Perfect rice (competing with moms), and pork that has me craving it hundreds of miles away.

If you're close by and considering, do me a favor and eat some on my behalf.
