Local Tavern's Fish Bar

A hidden gem in downtown Painesville. The food is always delicious and fresh. The lobster bisque soup is one the very best we've ever had! It's cozy in the winter and chill in the summer sitting outside on the patio. Always a great choice!

Although just a tad pricey, the food is quite good. I really liked the jambalaya. We also had shroom fries which were quite good though I would put maybe cheddar curds vs fresh mozzarella and more mushrooms. The fish sandwich as well as chicken were huge. The large BLT wasn't all that large in comparison. The thai slaw was also quite good. Being there was odd as I used to hang out at Chester's decades ago and there is very little left of the original bar. I did feel it though and it felt comfortable. The staff was so friendly and seemed much more genuinely happy to be there than most places. I recommend giving them a try.

There was four in our party and there were so many things on the menu we all wanted to try we each got something different and shared. It was all wonderful from the shroom fry appetizer to the omg dessert. The server was terrific and the place was very neat and clean even down to the restrooms.

We were greeted by a wonderful hostess and immediately seated us. The waiter came by and got our drink order and answered our questions about the menu items. We were not sure about the portion sizes, so my wife ordered the fish and chips 2 piece Haddock. Big mistake, it had 2 large pieces of fish, which would be more than enough for a growing man. I ordered the Perch Basket, which had 3 good size Perch. Also, a large amount of fries! The fish tasted great! We finished up with a desert so I could give a full review. Unfortunately, they were out of the Blueberry maple bourbon cobbler so we got the Toffee cake which was good, it was sweet but the ice cream balanced it out. Overall this was a very clean restaurant and great staff to take care of their customers.

We sat at the bar for dinner my choice. Service was great and food came quickly. I had the flat iron steak dinner and my had the salmon dinner. She said it's the best she has ever had and mine was great also at a reasonable price.

Perfect little/big bar in Painesville. Best soup I've ever had every time I try it. Little pricey but worth it (for soup)

Matt and I had the best meal of our lives last night. Steak sandwich on special, pesto chicken sandwich on special, absolutely knocked it put of the park. 11/10. We said why stop this delicious meal there? We got the Double Berry Cobbler dessert. This cobbler, my god. If i was on death row and it came to my last meal I would request that cobbler. I barely know that cobbler and I want to Elope with it. That cobbler should be considered an aphrodisiac. I’m still not positive that I’m not dead and that my was first meal in heaven.

Loved this place, service, food, prices, all great. Nice little place in a nice little town by the lake.

We had a party of 18 and nobody had any issues with their food. Impressed all the food came out at the same time. The place looked very clean and had great service.

Shrimp and Fried Grits
