If you find yourself hungry in Scarsdale, make a bee line to Cafe Alaia. Warm and inviting modern rustic atmosphere with attentive staff, divine wines and in the summer, wonderful outdoor seating Al fresco. The sun dried tomato dipping sauce is mouth watering, the Caprese is as fresh as can be, however my personal favorite is the pappardelle Al Ragú di Agnello. Delizioso!

Food and service is always amazing. The specials are always delicious. But the octopus is probably the best I have ever had outside of Lambs Club.

This place immediately reminded me of a cozy NYC style Italian restaurant, but in suburban Scarsdale. Everything I ordered was delicious. I started with the Tortellini in Brodo and then had Chicken Milanese as my main course. Both were superb. My wife had the Cod Fish Salad which she raved about all night. Service was very attentive. Best part of this place was the energy. If you want a taste of NYC in suburbia, then this place is for you.

Hands down best restaurant in town. Every item on the menu is well thought through and balanced, with a flavor profile that's both enjoyable and memorable.

The specials list rotates regularly and are truly unique and actually bespoke. Each taste is complex and layered, and clearly reflects the effort put forward by the entire staff.

Drinks are always amazing. I've asked for some esoteric drinks, and got pretty much what I expected. Wine list is well varied and enjoyable as well.

Get anything. It doesn't matter. If you're looking for recommendations I'd get the octopus appetizer, rigatoni pomodoro, and gnocchi. If a special sounds good it's cause it's actually good.

As for the atmosphere: refreshing unpretentious. Also no TVs, which is a nice change to allow you to concentrate on your meal and company.

Came here on Saturday for lunch.
Cozy place with comfortable tables. Very nice service, friendly staff.
Food was good. We got stunned with eggplant souffle. Such an airy texture, good flavors and tomato sauce was just wow.
Frittura Mista was amazing too. Nice and crispy zucchini, calamari were tender and aioli sauce was a great add on.
Pasta was beautifully cooked, perfect al dente. I guess it's home made.

This was my first time there. Was recommend here by a friend and it did not disappoint. Really nice place with great tasting food & good drinks. Great variety of dishes. Wine list was great as well. We enjoyed the recommendations by our waiter, he helped pick out our wine. Then the owner came out to greet us and reccomend specials. We will be back again.

Wow, what a meal. Appetizers were absolutely amazing. Servers were great, friendly, and helpful. Octopus, meatballs, and tortellini al brodo were top notch. Lamb ragu was solid, just a bit al dente for our taste. Chicken liver crostini just couldn't live up to the rest of the dishes but the whole meal was solid. Get lots of appetizer to share!

Salmon ranked with best I’ve ever had. Bread and salads were fresh and tasty and most important, not overly salted. One of the best meals I’ve ever had.

Visiting our kids who live in Chappaqua and made reservations here. A small storefront restaurant.

They have very good service and a nice small reasonably priced menu. My only complaint is the noise level but that is tough in such a small restaurant.

Started with Sformatino di Melanzane , a slowly cooked eggplant souffle’, topped with burrata fondue & light tomato sauce, different and superb. Also had the Barbabietole salad, warm rainbow beets, frisée, fresh goat cheese, toasted almonds, with balsamic vinegar.

For mains, I had the Orata Marechiaro, sautéed filet of orata, cherry tomatoes, clams, mussels, & white wine. A fish that I never heard of and we travel pretty extensively. A very delightful light white fish that was magnificently prepared and presented. My wife ordered the Pappardelle Al Ragu Di Agnello, homemade pappardelle, braised lamb ragu & shaved pecorino cheese . Also a great dish with lots of flavors.

Great finish with a chocolate molten cake with vanilla ice cream, fig and a strawberry

I don't give 5 *'s freely and café Alaia was a true delight.

Our first visit. We had a pre-Thanksgiving family lunch here. Very authentic Italian food and vibe. Very quiet, and not rushed. Fantastic food.

I was looking for a special restaurant to celebrate my wife’s birthday and I had read about how Cafe Alana had earned the Michelin vote of excellence, which was very unusual for a relatively new restaurant that opened on Garth Road in Scarsdale. I reserved a table a week in advance and while we normally do not go out to eat during the week, we were both looking forward to what we envisioned would be an exceptional dinner. Our waiter, Juan, was welcoming and made us feel very comfortable, bringing us delicious breads and a berry sauce that was both surprising and very tasty. We both ordered glasses of red wine. I had a Nebbiolo and my wife had a Pinot Nero. Juan listed the specials and we shared an order of Zucchini Flowers stuffed with ricotta and served in a marinara sauce. While I think of zucchini flowers as a summer specially, I was surprised at how exceptional our appetizer tasted. Our dinner only got better and better! I ordered Cafe Alaia’s special fish, sautéed trout served over a bed of broccoli rabe and served with the most delicious potatoes and my wife had their wild salmon that was prepared in a mist sauce. She never tasted wild salmon that tasted so wonderful! She let me sample her fish and I happily agreed. We really didn’t leave room for dessert, but since we were celebrating her birthday, we splurged on their warm lava soufflé cake served with vanilla ice cream. To my wife’s delight, Juan and the other waiters brought out her cake with a lit candle and sang a very beautiful and heart felt “ Happy Birthday”! Juan introduced us to Vincenzo Alana, the owner and chef who was thrilled that we had enjoyed our dinner and when we told him it was our first time and how much we loved his restaurant, he insisted on having Juan bring out his homemade biscottis which he insisted that we try. We had never tasted such exceptional biscotti! As we were getting ready to leave, Vincenzo returned to thank us for choosing his restaurant and wishing my wife a very happy birthday. Cafe Alaia is truly a phenomenal gem of a restaurant with the warmest staff and a truly gracious and classy owner. I’m not planning on waiting to celebrate another birthday since there were many dishes I’m looking forward to tasting and I’d urge anyone reading my review to make your reservation for what promises to be a wonderful dining experience.
