Mara's Cafe & Bakery

Happend to stumble upon this place which happens to be having a grand re opening. I was on the receiving end of a great experience with some great people, food and desserts. To start, you need to have a plan when it comes to parking. There are a few spots out front, but the main parking is located behind the building. The entrance is inviting and welcoming with the inside featuring new tables and chairs. Everything is new. Now depending upon what you are looking to order, you can go right or left through the doors. You go right and you can treat yourself to an amazing layout of authentic homemade gelato. More flavors than you can imagine and it is made on site. Apparently one of the new owners went to Italy to learn how to make Gelato. The time was was well spent because the gelato was amazing. If you go to the left side of the cafe, you have seating for breakfast, lunch or dinner. I selected to have breakfast for lunch with some eggs and home fries. Now a little confusing is the ordering system, especially if you have not done it before. But you do it once and you will know for the next visit. You place your order at the front, they call your name and you pick it up at the counter. The desserts are off the charts, fresh cupcakes, pies, cakes, bars. Anything and everything to satisfy your sweet tooth. Ordered the penut butter bar and it was outstanding. If this is a sample of what is to come, Mara's is going to do very well in Denville. Nothing better than a small business doing well on Main Street USA. Best of Luck. I will be back really soon to start sampling each dessert, one at a time. Loved this place.

I popped in here for a quick meal two weeks ago and loved it!

They have a pretty wide selection of brunch/lunch items and a massive dessert menu. I got the Western Burger (see attached pics), which came garnished with frizzled onions and bacon. It was really good and the portion was quite generous. I got my order pretty quickly.

I got the latte (see pic) after the burger and it came generously garnished with whip cream. It was a nice little treat!

The ambiance is great as well. It's great for casual lunches, for studying, or even taking business clients out for breakfast.

I would return again.

Let me just say yum and wow! You will love all of these well decorated tasty desserts. And that's not all, the homemade ice cream will taste great on any day, anytime! Would definitely recommend!

Mara’s did a fabulous job on a Giants themed two-tier all buttercream cake (no awful fondant!) for my son’s 30th birthday party! It was as delicious as it was beautiful!! It was a hit with everyone, especially my son! Thank you Betsey xo

Can't wait to go back! Mozzarella tomato pesto panini -yum. Raspberry oat bar delicious. Caramel latte not too sweet--perfect.

The Grand re-opening was great. Mara's looks beautiful on the inside. Open area with plenty of seating, friendly staff, and great food! Who knew they did such a great dinner?

Wow cake is a little pricey but BY FAR best cake i ever had super silky and not sweet tasting which is perfect. Frosting is usually too sweet for me but this was smooth and tasty. Def would get again.

Breakfast all day my favorite. Wife had a chicken wrap with almonds, mandarin oranges, greens, and sesame dressing that was also excellent.

I just moved to Denville and wanted a local coffee shop. And I found a great one. The girls behind the counter were super friendly and showed me and my wife the selection of cakes and pastries. They were knowledgeable about the different items and shared popular items as well as their own favorites.

My wife and I had a couple of coffees and shared an Oreo cheesecake. The coffee was on par with other good coffee shops and I loved the cheesecake.

We sat outside on a beautiful sunny day and enjoyed the whole experience. I'm definitely making Mara's Cafe a regular stop for me.

Great place! The people who run it are really nice. Just a great cup of joe and a great cheesecake. Nice way to top off an evening!

Huge section to eat. Loads of delicious baked good choices. priced reasonably. Staff went out of their way to look in the back for a full pie on a last minute birthday request and delivered. The red velvet explosion cake is so so good!

We just went here for breakfast it’s a very cozy place, I liked the atmosphere. Our server was great she made sure our coffee stayed filled and was very nice to talk to. I had a big omelet and a side of hash browns, you won’t leave hungry and the price was good. I also got some baked goods because how can you not when they display them all over, the cheesecake was like heaven. We will be back maybe next time for dinner.

Consistently Excellent service!! Awesome food, awesome baked goods. Comfortable, inviting cozy atmosphere. Clean and spacious seating, which I love. Outdoor seating, which is awesome! Highly recommended. Came recommended to me, I clearly see why, now I'm recommending it to others!! I stop often for my mocha frapp. Before work.

Stopped in to buy a whole quiche and some dessert treats for dinner. Mara's has had a Reno since last time I was here, and the results are very nice! Calming, enjoyable, lets their food take center stage. They had all the flavors of quiche available in the freezer, which was just what I wanted for busy evenings. The dessert was a big hit at home, tasty, mouthwatering and attractive to see.

Came in this morning ( very first time) on my way to work. I explained to the staff, Adrienne, Patricia, and Kate, that I've been making it a point to go anywhere but chain/ franchised coffee shops.
Not only where they insanely helpful, and courteous, but also incredible salespeople.
Mara's, you did something right in hiring them.
I ended up choosing the almond white chocolate scone as my breakfast, but only after Kate *literally* sold me on it--I was not one bit disappointed.
It was HEAVENLY.
The texture; incredible . The taste.. where do I even begin...just downright amazing.
Definitely will be making it a point to stop by here more often.

The restaurant I used to work for ordered all the desserts from Mara's, I was thrilled when I found out how close it was to my house! The chocolate mousse is my absolute favorite! The atmosphere is great and all the employees are super nice! Couldn't ask for better bakery! As a new "dessert" person I recommend this bakery to anyone looking for a tasty treat; as a life-long "breakfast" person, I recommend the smashers! Delicious !!!

The absolutely Best place to order a Dessert to bring to a Family Affair ! Not to mention a great place to meet or have breakfast or lunch. Great Staff, and excellent fare. It is also a good Local Citizen in Denville and a good locally-owned company. Plenty of parking. You can't go wrong here !

One of my favorites. Great soups - including the soup and sandwich special. You can also take Mara's home - - the coffee selection is amazing - they grind it to suit. Really good selection of desserts.... try the cupcakes. Thursday music nights are really fun They are very kid friendly!

It's a really nice spot. Their seasonal raspberry latte and almond croissant I had were the best. Great place to meet with a friend for coffee or have breakfast all day long. Their cupcake and cheesecake selection is awesome.

Love their Cheesecake, coffee is good too.
Didn't like Chocolate Croissant though (too much chocolate). Not sure why they ask for tip since they don't really serve on to your table, find it weird not to tip so I always do.
