Gramercy Tavern

My family and I came here for my brother’s birthday after making a reservation weeks in advance. When you make the reservation, make sure you’re choosing the right menu because the front of the Tavern serves their more casual fare whereas the back rooms host their tasting menu. We had the tasting menu - a 5 course menu. Each course had 2 dishes you could choose from: one that’s meat based and one that’s vegetarian. We also opted for the seafood starter tray which had the best shrimp I’ve ever had. My favorites of the menu were the squid ink pasta with lobster and the sea bass which had an Asian flavor profile that was both delicate and bold in flavor. Delicious!

Shout out to Caroline who was a fantastic server that night and made our experience so fun! The place was clean and had a very casual vibe which I loved because I get annoyed by the pretentious vibe of fine dining restaurants. The staff were all professional and friendly. My only issue is that the place is so large and open that if you’re a group of 5 or more and are seated at a large table, the place gets a lot of echo, which makes it hard to have quiet conversations with the whole table. But, it’s great for intimate tables for 2 people who are seated close to each other.

I absolutely plan to come back and try the vegetarian options of their tasting menu.

The food quality was undeniably excellent, with standout dishes like the lumache with royal red shrimps and hanger steak leaving a lasting impression. However, the portion sizes were disappointingly small, leaving me craving more after each bite. The hanger steak, while flavorful, was overshadowed by the incredible side of mushrooms, kale, and pickled shallots. On a brighter note, the dessert, particularly the chocolate cream pie, was a sweet conclusion to the meal, and I couldn't help but appreciate the attention to detail even in their bread. Despite the small portions, the flavors and execution of the dishes were commendable, making it a worthwhile dining experience for those with a lighter appetite or a penchant for quality over quantity.

While the food at the restaurant was undoubtedly impressive, the overall dining experience was slightly marred by the service. Although the waitstaff were friendly, the service was merely okay and could be improved. There was a noticeable delay in receiving our bread, as we waited for our waitress for quite some time.

Great overall experience in the dining room, We had the Chef Du Jour... a 5 course prix fixe selection of seasonal menu items, and the kitchen did not disappoint with the flavors! Everything jumped off the plate. It's a bit pricey for the portions, but more than made up for by the service, execution and attentionto detail. Would definitely return.

Amazing experience

We had the 5 course menu with wine pairing and cheese plate.

All the food was amazing and the service was great.

I will say the cheese plate didn't seem worth it both in the types of cheese given and the presentation. Other than that we had a great time. As a vegetarian I really appreciated the options for each course.

I experienced a delightful evening at Gramercy Tavern.

Upon requesting bar seating, graciously granted by the maitre d', I was attended to by excellent bartenders, receiving impeccable service.

The much-praised burger, renowned as one of the city's finest, surpassed expectations with its juicy and flavorful meat. The chocolate chip cookie, a culinary masterpiece, further enhanced the dining experience. I wholeheartedly recommend Gramercy Tavern for an impeccably satisfying meal in the heart of Manhattan.

Creative pairings and amazing service. The beets were amazing and the fingerling potatoes are definitely stand out. Overall a new tradition. I can't express how great the service was. Being a waiter/bartender, I pay attention to the details and they were great.

Gramercy Tavern was one of the best dining experiences we've had. The ambiance, energy, decor, and professionalism of the entire staff was exceptional. Our food + drink were outstanding too -- you can tell the quality & intentionality that went into every starter, the precision with the burger, the dessert spread, and the seasonal cocktails. William (GM) made us feel so welcomed + we couldn't have asked for a better experience. We will definitely be back!!!

As a person with several food allergies, I was absolutely blown away by the level of care and attention to detail that accompanied our service/meal here. Initially, I only ordered the pork shoulder entree, but the Gramercy Tavern team found out that my friend recently started working for their hospitality group and we received their potato & leek soup starter on the house. Raphael and the wait staff took extra care and effort to acknowledge the ingredients in our respective meals and they gently reassured me that there were no eggs or nuts in my food. And when it came time for dessert, I’d usually just skip it, however, they brought out a delicious vegan cake for me and it was an incredible surprise! This was one of the best dining experiences that I’ve had in NYC and truly the highest compliments to the Gramercy Tavern kitchen and team. Thank you!

I went to this restaurant to see my best friend who flew in from California. Wanted a special evening to spend time with her and celebrate milestones while enjoying good food and drinks.

We did not have a reservation but were seated promptly after arriving in the main dining room. Michael and Kumar were our server. The entire staff was kind and helpful. My friend and I both got the prix fixed seasonal menu where I opted for the morning glory cocktail and she, the wine pairing.

Food was served at a comfortable and fluid pace. In total, my friend and I tried 10 dishes. The wines paired with the menu was perfect and explanations were thorough.

Food was delicious!

By the end of the evening, we were given apple crumble bread as to go goodies. The bread, even after two days, was still flavorful, moist and delicious.

Came here for a birthday dinner and had an amazing experience! Upon entry, the staff were extremely kind and the decor was warm and inviting, decorated to mimic the fall foliage. They had an extensive wine and drinks list, but we opted for cocktails instead. The bar was able to make me a White Negroni that was spot on. The 6-course menu was simple but delicious, and everything was well prepared (a few minor plating issues but easily overlooked). My favorite was the duck; the most tender I’ve had this year and the skin was thin and crispy. We ended the night with the birthday dessert and espressos. Overall great experience, and would certainly come back in a different season to see how the restaurant decor and menu changes. Highly recommend.

Great food, cheerful atmosphere and good wines!

We dined in the casual part of this restaurant and shared some dishes among the two of us. All food was well prepared and tasty, especially the Tavern Burger, which came with a medium grilled beef patty and a fluffy bun. Even as a smashburger enthusiast, I have to say this is, hands down, a delicious burger!

We took advantage of the fine dining wine list, and the selection is really good, and while there are certainly no bargains the overall pricing seems rather friedly. A nice bottle of champagne was the choice for the evening.

Overall pleasant experience. Thanks to the guy who took out order and the servers! For the cold seafood tower, we originally got clams with very little meat. After communication, they served us with more meat.

The attention to detail was amazing. Multiple people interacted with us, and various people brought the food to the table and they automatically knew who had what. Our water was always filled and the people engaged us in conversation. The food was prepared exactly as described and cooked to the temperature as requested. I would highly recommend the place. The drink was exactly what I wanted and I even ordered a second.

We did the seasonal tasting menu and had a great time. The food was exceptional, atmosphere was amazing and the service was next level!

We did the 4 course tasting menu for lunch and every single thing was perfection.

Firstly, getting reservations was relatively easy given it was holiday season. We were even able to call and move our slot to a time that wasn't shown on resy. We were running late (as usual nyc traffic) and everyone was courteous and accommodated a late lunch.

I'm vegetarian and my husband is not, so here's what we got for the seasonal 4 course menu.
1. Beet and chicory starter for both
2. Bass for husband, squash and chicory for me
3. Duck for husband, butternut squash fritters for me
4. Hazelnut tart for both

Everything was made to perfection. The sauces were the star in all dishes enhancing the flavors just right.
Best of all - warm potato rolls and butter. So amazing we got it twice!

My wife and I came here for restaurant week lunch. The atmosphere was delightful, with a faint plant aroma in the air. Dry plants adorned various corners, creating a vibrant ambiance.

We ordered two cocktails with well-layered flavors; even as the ice melted, the aroma persisted. The pre-dinner bread was soft, and the butter was fragrant.

The Arctic char tartare appetizer was elegantly seasoned, bringing out the freshness of the raw fish with perfectly balanced herbs. The Lumache pasta sauce was rich and coated well on the pasta.

For the main course, the hanger steak had a perfect texture, and the buttery greens underneath provided a delicate sensation. The roasted duck breast had crispy skin and a sweet, flavorful fat. The accompanying sauce on the side offered a refreshing balance of sweetness and acidity.

Desserts included a Meyer Lemon Tart with a balanced sweet and tart taste, adorned with mint and other herbs for a fresh fragrance. The Apple Tart Tatin was stunning, seamlessly blending the natural sweetness and crispy aroma of baked apples, complemented by caramel ice cream on the side.

The server provided detailed introductions for each dish and demonstrated a good understanding of the menu when taking orders, all while being very friendly. Highly recommended.
We will definitely revisit.

Went for Thanksgiving dinner as is one of the best rated american cuisine restaurants currently. The menu was very well curated for Thanksgiving and I was completely surprised on the taste the manage to accomplish for the Turkey dish they were offering. The rest of the dishes were very good but no surprises there for a restaurant of this quality. A bit overpriced in my opinion

GREAT experience: great location, very nice deco but mostly and impeccable service for a superbe meal. Must try. Bonus: they gave us a small cake when we left « here’s your breakfast for tomorrow ». It was the best soft and crunchy apple bread ever. So the great experience was extended 🤩

All visits to Grammercy are amazing; whether sitting at bar or dining in the Tavern or Restaurant. For some reason, my last visit was more excellent than usual, if that's even possible. The Flatbread and seasonal dips is reason alone to return. Our mains were wonderful. And the upside down 🍐 tart is out of this 🌎!! Andrea, the sommelier, helped us choose perfect 🇪🇸 white 🍷!!

3 courses lunch at $60 during Restaurant Week is a steal ! Food is always delectable and well prep and service is always excellent. We had our anniversary dinner last year and we are coming back again for restaurant week in few days.
