I had my wisdom tooth extracted today and I was scared to death. All the staff that i encountered were professional, understanding and nice. The dr was so nice I will continue to go him for any teeth issues I have. Numbness went away and I have no pain at all. Dr. Alemu

You know they seem nice in person I got my wisdom teeth pulled last week Friday. The person I was on the phone with didn’t seem very professional. He put me on hold in the middle of me speaking to him then took me off to say “one moment” and put me back on hold. I don’t feel like he was listening.

Took my son there yesterday as a walk in. Was told at first that he wouldn't be seen but to wait in waiting area for doctor to let me know what to do. 2 minutes after sitting down my son was called to the back. We were in and out in less than 20min. Great service. Would definitely recommend

I had my wisdom tooth, lower left side, extracted and the bedside manner is HORRIBLE!!!! I get that it's a hospital setting and more patients BUT that don't take away to having compassion and understanding towards a patient. I've had my top wisdom teeth extracted so I know the process but those places EXPLAINED what was going to happen. This lady, man I don't know who she is but if anyone had this experience they know the skinny Asian looking female. She wants to rush and be quick and I'm like whoa baby take it easy. She comes with paper to sign saying "I understand and consent to the procedure" so I say "what are you gonna do?" She looked stuck lol, she look like she was caught off guard she like your getting your tooth removed. I say " I know that but aren't you supposed to explained what is going to happen, what I'm going to experience." She looking like a deer in headlights, man, she went and got the oral surgeon lol. But, even HE was reluctant to explain the procedure but he said some things which is more than what female did. I signed the paper but the compassion and bedside manner needs to be improved 10000%. Explain what's going to happen, have encouraging words, and have a nurse or some other medical professional that can be there for the patient. That pulling you feel, man I had to hold on to something or someone lol. So if they had someone that can be a soothing ear to the patient and hold their hand during the process; the patients would be more at ease. And, the reviews would be better. Kings County Hospital Dental Clinic, I hope you're reading this and take action to make the experience for the patient better and improve your business reputation.

I mean I guess it could have been worse?... I went to the dental clinic as a first time patient for an emergency visit due to an impacted tooth. I think in total I waited for about 5 hours from start to finish with about 5 minutes of that actually speaking to a health professional. They told me that I needed surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed and that the earliest appointment was 2 days later. Now mind you; I came into this clinic after having gone to the ER the previous day and was diagnosed with Pericoronitis and was told I needed urgent care from the dentist. So I waited patiently and painfully for 2 days for my appointment, continuing to take my Ibuprofen and antibiotics. I came back for my appointment later on that week on time and ready to get it over with. When I arrived I tried signing in so they knew I was there and one of the receptionist said "Unless your name is called you shouldn't be waiting at a window- there shouldn't be a line." Okay-fine, whatever. I sit down with my chaperone for the surgery. An hour goes by and so does my appointment time and I get fed up and go to the window where I was told I NEEDED TO SIGN IN. after signing in for my appointment I sat down and was called for treatment/surgery about 15 minutes later. Now the surgery itself: the dentist and anesthesiologist were friendly enough but I felt more like a cat at a vet than a human. None of the procedure was explained to me, no one told me their name, things were being poked into me without warning, papers thrust in front of me to sign without context (I had to ask). I felt uneasy about the whole thing. I was given no warning about what to expect post surgery or what was being done in my mouth. The most unsettling part was the fact that I was never given warning about the anesthesia. Not that it was being administered or anything. Suddenly I was just out, boom black no counting back from 10. I woke up and it was about an hour and a half later. I was wheeled out of the room and spent about 20 minutes in a drug daze with a friendly nurse in a separate area before she grabbed my chaperone and we got out of there. I'm sure they did a fine job with the procedure itself and I'm positive they are overworked and I get the feeling that this is a teaching hospital- I get it but...interpersonal skills and empathy should be inextricable from health care services. Treating your patients like this just because this is a jumping board for your career or because it's a lower income community is unacceptable. It reflects poorly on the hospital and doesn't instill the core values of empathy and compassion that are crucial in providing successful and effective health care services.
