We learned a lot about Indian culture in the museum part and the hike was very good. Enjoy hearing nature outside.

It's a great place for a half trip where you can learn the native American rich history as how they survived and how they developed the geometry and their farming techniques and aa you can see In the photos how they are cooking and life style and there is great hiking place with clear paths and there's a kayak place near by.

Great place to learn about the ancient culture that was here in the Ohio Valley thousands of of years ago. Also a great place to hike on the trails. There is a museum and trails to explore.

Beautiful place to visit! The museum was very informative. The employee's were very nice and knowledgeable. They have a cute little gift shop. We went for a walk/hike on the trails and thoroughly I enjoyed it. The trails were very neat with beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. The picnic areas were very nice and clean as well.

Visited Fort Ancient this morning to witness the Winter Solstice. We we're blessed with good weather and a partially cloudy sky that allowed us to view the celestial event much as the Native Americans did 2,000 years ago. This is a special place not only for the historical significance but for the sacredness it held for our American forbearers. If you get the chance you should visit to enjoy it's beauty and peace.

Native American history and Ohio history at its best! Wonderful museum with tons of great historical information and artifacts. Gteat place for a family day trip. Stop at Caesar"s creek lake, fossil beds or beach. All nearby. Also check out the spillway, great place to fish or have a picnic. Also nearby to bike trail.

Seeing a hand made sign on the freeway to mark the exit for this site intrigued me to find it, an hour before it’s opening! I returned later in the day to be amazed with the beautiful and well done displays, historic information, and highly knowledgeable staff. I will return to explore trails, mounds aligned to the sun’s unique positions, and the natural beauty of the area.

The museum is nice. I wish the gift shop had more stuff & the entry was a little bit more welcoming, but it is very educational and does the job extremely well. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly.

This is a hidden gem just north of Cincinnati. There is a really nice museum that has an interactive area for your kids (big or small) and some really nice artifacts and history about the location. It is way bigger than you first realize and there are plenty of hiking and biking trails to offer here. I love the scenic views. Very relaxing and beautiful. I would definitely visit this location again and prob would enjoy it more in the summer. We visited in late November. The grounds were wet so we had to dodge mud while walking. Make this a stop to view some natural beauty and detailed history about the area.

Very informative signage. A large and very scenic site. I highly recommend a visit. Unfortunately the museum wasn't open, but I will definitely be going back.

Visited Wednesday 7/12/23
The park is closed Mondays and Tuesdays so we adjusted our travel plans to visit on Wednesday and it was worth the switch in our plans. We visited as many of the mounds and earthworks in southern Ohio as we could in a two day period and Fort Ancient was one of the best sites as most of the earthworks are still intact and the park is well managed. The maintenance workers and visitor center staff were friendly and knowledgeable. The museum was huge and had impressive exhibits and informative information. We explored the grounds to see the earthworks and walked a few of the hike if trails. I learned so much! I definitely recommend spending a few hours to enjoy this site and learn about its past.

Anytime you're standing in the middle of history it's amazing. To picture the life of native Americans living there is awesome. The winter and summer solstice is the time to be here.

Totally stumbled upon Fort Ancient today while out riding my motorcycle. Paid my $7 and thought I was just gonna ride through real quick and check it out. Not sure how busy this place is normally, but there is almost nobody else out here today. I ended up parking near the North lookout and walked down into the shade on the steps leading downward towards the trail (where I'm typing all this out). What was gonna be a quick trip through turned into me being able to charge my soul. This place is beautiful. ❤

Adjacent to the Little Miami River, Fort Ancient is a popular destination for hikers as well as canoe or rafting enthusiasts.
