Santa Clara Arboretum

It was pretty epic, not a great trail for running but fun to hike around, lots of cool trenches.

Things that sound made up but are real: An arboretum in an ancient lava field. Santa Clara Arboretum has a surprisingly diverse array of desert plant life that has taken root in a field of giant igneous rocks deposited by a long-extinct volcano. There are many signs describing each plant and a few benches to rest (especially great in the summer when temperatures can exceed 110 degrees). The trail is mostly unpaved and branches off in a couple directions, but it's easy to navigate for anyone with good hiking shoes. I didn't know what to expect when I visited Santa Clara Arboretum, but I was pleasantly surprised and I will be back.

Great example of native desert plants and flowering in spring.

Fun hike and trails. Needs some fixing up but still worth the visit.
