We loved this hike. Did it with our 6 and 8 year old with no problems. Follows along a stream incase you need to cool off. Very educational with pannels to learn about the fire along the way. Easy to moderate hike depending on fitness level. Met an amazing couple in the parking lot. All the ppl along the trail were so friendly. Not a ton of room for parking but it wasn’t busy so we had no problems finding a spot even with a motor home. Would recommend this hike.

Great easy hike in! 2 miles in 2 miles out with 1/4 mile markers. Beautiful place!
Gradual incline going in with the hike going out being much easier with the gradual downhill. Bathroom before you head on hike smells horrible though.

Great hike with beautiful scenery. I'm not the strongest hiker and found the steep grades at various points challenging, but with some stops along the way it was doable. I'll definitely bring my walking sticks next time!

An easy hike that simultaneously gives you a history lesson and a peaceful walk in the woods. The last portion of the hike is a little steep but if you are moderately in shape, it won’t be a bother. Overall, it’s well maintained and you can read about the fires and the history as you walk. An absolute must if you are in the area.

Hiked with 6 year old twins and a 3 year old. We all loved it! Gradual incline, nicely maintained trail. We ran into too much snow on the trail for this old lady so we turned around. The info displays were wonderful to teach the kids about the history of the trail.

Really lovely trail. First half mile is easily negotiable for most anyone. There are several display posts with history and general info. Soon after first half mile the trail starts up a short steep section. We did not venture further as we were pressed for time but would have loved to have gone further.

Absolutely Beautiful Nature Trail! 4 miles of gorgeous rivers, mountain tall cedar and pine trees, cute chipmunks and squirrel. Cool breeze from the river helps you press on. All the while you learn interesting facts about Pulaski and how he saved his men in the 1910 massive Forrest fires. The town of Wallace is also very beautiful. Before you get to the trail entrance you go threw the most quaint little historic town, kept exactly how it used to be. A true gift to walk this trail and experience a peice of historic nature.

Amazing trail. Well built, amazing scenery and it’s not to rugged at all. Easy hike just long.

The Pulaski interpretative trail was great, and the event could be made into a Hollywood movie, easy. I may be a little bias, given the nationality of the hero. There are a few inclines/declines, but I'd say it is an easy/moderate trail. 2 miles in/out (4 miles total)

This is a wonderful and beautiful hike. The bridge at about 3/4 mile was our favorite spot and fairly easy to get to even with small children. Beyond that bridge there are more spots with water to look at but not as nice as at the bridge. The end of the hike has a nice seating area and you can see the tunnel entrance. There are nice interpretive and informative signs throughout. The is a must visit location.

This was so much fun!! Spoiler alert, you can't actually get up and close to the mine..well you can, but there is no trail down to it. (trust me I explored as many options.. I came close to traversing down the bank, but a little boy told me he did it, but that when you got down there you couldnt see "anything" exciting. It is definitely a hike UP. lol!

I moved to Wallace middle of June 2022 and discovered this trail prior to moving here. I wanted to find a hiking trail close to my place for my buddy Chloe and I to enjoy often. Absolutely stunning trail, fast paced creek, small water falls, and we meet nice folks weekly!

Read about this trail from one of the groups I'm in on FB that highlights areas to hike. Not far from home (I live in Spokane Valley), good day adventure even in the snow. My trip was the day before Easter, still lots of snow on the trail. Not very busy when I started out, made it almost all the way up before I saw people behind me. 2 miles up (and down of course), trail has mile markers in the ground, handful of bridges to walk over, quite a bit downed trees and big ol' limbs across the trail.... Some looked like they were from the winter weather and some looked like they have always been that way. Walk pretty much beside the creek the whole time. Very peaceful, all I could hear was the rushing water. Beginning of trail has some highlights of the fire and Pulaski. At the end there are more highlights. The tunnel entrance of course was covered in snow but I could definitely see where it was. Have to cross the water to actually reach the tunnel. Summer months I'm sure this is really pretty to hike and see the tunnel up close. Great picture taking time with nature. Dogs allowed. Bathroom at the beginning of the trail (not sure if it was accessible when I went tho). No garbage cans around.

Loved this trail!! So extraordinary beautiful, especially during the winter. Definitely wear snow boots because the snow gets a bit high. The trail is almost 2 miles back and forth, so 4 miles total. It is not that hard, totally doable.

*Limited handicapped access*

The trail is paved and gravel and mostly flat and would be usable by disabled persons for a VERY SHORT DISTANCE.

Very nice trail! Kept clean and mostly easy hike until about the last 1/4 mile, where the trail goes up some uneven rocky terrain, not terribly difficult, but one needs to be careful to not twist an ankle. There are many kiosks along the trail that contain information about the fire and the crew of men trapped within. I would recommend this hike to anyone in the Wallace area that wants to get some excercise and see some very beautiful landscape.

Amazing amazing AMAZING! The fall foliage put on a great show when i was here in late September 2018. The little town of Wallace was friendly with some very old traditional houses, The trail to the tunnel was so visual . It is pet friendly but please pick up after your furry family. I didn’t get to complete the trail as my english bulldog meatball isn’t much of a hiker. I hope to go back again without him soon

Beautiful hike that is rated as a moderate hike. I did this hike with a 14 year old and a 9 year old. We did have to encourage the 9 year old with the 1/4 mile markers that were along the way. To actually get to the tunnel there is a type of trail that is straight down and a bit steep but there is a trail. If you are not up for that there is a view point with the story on plaques to read. Along the path are plaques with the story as well along with actual Pulaski tools. There is a stream that runs along the path. We enjoyed it.

Trail was in excellent condition, nice hard packed and not icy. Lots of great informational boards about the 1910 fire and Pulaski along the trail.
