Absolutely beautiful hike! The views along the entire way were stunning but once you reach the top they are breathtaking! The 360° view is insane. I could’ve stayed up there all day!

This is a very rocky steep trail that is narrow and dangerous but the result is amazing so I’d recommend it for anyone that is decently I. Shape and has ever hiked on a trail. Plan on it taking you twice as long to get to the top as it does to get back down….. great exercise and beautiful views… met several very nice people along the hike and that was cool because I was solo so it’s always nice to have a friendly conversation when you are on a treacherous hike like this one lol.

I really enjoyed the hike on Sharp Top Mountain. The parking lot was pretty much full, but the trail wasn't crowded at all. The people whom I encountered on the hike were friendly, which made the experience that much better. The views were awesome, and the trail was in very good shape.

This trail kicked my backside! I’m 45 years old and in less than peak shape but I’m usually pretty good when I go hiking. However, the name should have been a clue for me that this was going to be a steep climb. That said, I made it to the top in just the nick of time to catch the last 10 minutes of sun before it set over the western sky. Totally glad I pushed myself to make it but if you are questioning your hiking ability, put your pride and your backside in the shuttle and enjoy the ride!

Beautiful trail- 3 miles round trip. Keep in mind it is very steep at the beginning but the summit is worth it. I've been hiking for years and the first mile still took the wind out of me. Finding the B-25 isn't too difficult just continue down a path right between the summit and Buzzards roost for about a quarter mile. It has bright orange markers tied to the trees as you get close. It is veryyy steep but a cool place to check out. Highly recommend!

My wife and I started trying different hikes to have some fun during a tough time of year for me. At the top of Sharp Top, I felt it was a God-given mountain top experience. I felt God there with me giving me comfort and peace that only He can give. I didn't want to have to go back down.

What an amazing hike. It’s short but challenging. Take your time, as it um an get rocky in certain areas. There are steps, steps, and more steps. The views are some of the best that I’ve seen in Virginia and Maryland. It’s definitely worth the treat. The trail is well marked and is family friendly. There are restrooms in the parking lot and there is overflow parking at the visitors center about .3 miles away. Bring your camera because you will want to have proof that you were here.

Beautiful hike, although definitely level difficult. Lots of uphill hiking and steps. The top of the hike is totally worth it. We did see a bear when we went (end of July).

It's a ~1.5 mile hike with occasional stretches of steep steps. It was pretty foggy on the day we hiked, so I didn't get to see much of the views from up there, but after reaching the top it felt like I was in the midst of clouds and that the mountain was hanging in space!
There's no entry or parking fee.
They also operate shuttle bus tours and the hike path for the people with the tours is different.

Strenuous hike up and easy hike back down. This is a beautiful rock castle on the top of a tall mountain. Absolutely stunning views of the entire area 😍

This was my first hike ever! It gets a little tricky with the rocks and there were some steep slopes but other than that would highly recommend for beginning- moderate hikers. The photos are well worth it. I would not recommend going alone though, do make sure you are with someone.

Do be weary of poison ivy and oak though, they do line the trails a bit. Make sure to take plenty of water and pack some granola bars too.

Trail is great. The view is spectacular. I've climbed a lot of Virginia's magnificent mountains and this is definitely one of the very best.

Parking lot is large and paved with a seasonally open small store.

What a great hike to a beautiful incredible view. Lots of parking down at the Sharp Top Shop. You can pick up tickets in the shop for the shuttle to take you to top. You can also get a few camping items, drinks and snacks in the shop. The shuttle comes every hour. Now if you get Chris as your driver, you are in for an adventure. My wife and I were cracking up the whole way, because the ride was crazy. Chris was chatting it up and flying up the very narrow, windy and steep road. On the way back it felt like being on a Rollercoaster. He knows the road by the back of his hand, just quite a trip. Drops you off at the top, then you have a little bit of a climb to top. Lots of rocky stairs on the pathway up. There a couple of place you can stop and look over the outlooks. Mid-fall when we went and the leaves were turning nice reds and yellows. Once you get to the top there are a number of large rocks you can climb on. Also some outlooks. The view is amazing! You can see for miles and miles. There are trails you can take to the top or back down if you don't want to ride the bus. There is a small lake close by with a restaurant and lodge, then tons of camping 🏕 sites you can rent. If you are ever in the area or just a nature buff, this is a must do.

Great place to start and finish this very difficult, but beautiful trail.

Been up here a few times. Usually the earlier you go, the less challenges you have near the top with traffic either way. Parking is usually not an issue and we'll maintained trail. There's a lovely spot to hang out with chairs near the entrance behind the store as well.

I've done this trail several times. It's definitely one of the harder trails in this area, but the views at the top more than make up for it! You have a 360° view of the surrounding area. I believe the best time to go is in the evening for a sunset hike. Parking is usually better at that time, and the views are spectacular! Just be sure to bring plenty of water and some lights.

I did the shuttle up to the drop off and then made the climb to the top. Not an overly long hike but some steep stairs and rocky areas. The view from the top is beautiful!

This trail is quite challenging climb featuring steep incline to reach the peak and very rocky, covered with leaves that make the returning decline potentially treacherous. Having said that, if you are up for it, an amazing vista will greet you when you finally reach the very top. Make sure you wear good hiking shoes, bring drinking water and use of walking poles is recommended. Be prepared for rapid weather changes and go early rather than later. You don't want to be caught on the trail in failing light. It's totally worth effort, it's really breath taking 180 degree views!
