The Hangar Restaurant & Flight Lounge

We held my wedding reception in the private event space at the hangar this past weekend. The service was fantastic, food was good, and it was the perfect location and atmosphere to hold our intimate dinner reception. Nice variety of menu options for all dietary preferences. Food arrived quickly, the portions were large, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The kids especially loved the private patio and we enjoyed having a private room to chat with all our loved ones. Rachael was our server and she did a fantastic job, extremely attentive and professional. I highly recommend the hangar and am very glad we rented the private event room. It was delightful and memorable. Thanks for hosting us and making it such a great experience after our wedding ceremony.

The Hangar Restaurant and Flight Lounge in St. Petersburg is an aviation lover’s dream! Located directly off the St. Petersburg Bay on the flight path of incoming planes, helicopters and jets, you’re sure to get a show! The interior of the restaurant, including the menu, play up the aviation theme. We saw many pilots land their small planes and come in for a burger. The Hangar offers indoor seating, a full service bar and an outdoor patio with tables. The runway ends at the bay, so you’re sure to see a ferry or two as well as boats and ships. This is a very busy little airport!

I took my husband, a future pilot, for his birthday. We arrived before 5:00 on a Friday and were able to get the a prime seat on the patio. While the runway is visible from inside the restaurant, if you want the full experience we recommend patio seating! Nothing like the roar of planes coming in for a landing, fuel trucks filling them up, airport workers guiding them in, the trolley running in the background and boats and ferries driving by in the distance as the runway ends at the ocean.

Our order: My husband ordered the steamed Muscles, a Martini and the Hamburger with fries. We shared the Fondue, but do not recommend as the cheese was not hot and the oil and cheese was separating in the fondue bowl when it was delivered. The Strawberry Pecan salad was delicious and will be my go to order as this restaurant doesn’t offer much for vegetarians. We also enjoyed their breakfast offerings one afternoon with the breakfast burrito, Potato’s and Garlic Parmesan Chicken Wings for my husband. Overall, the view made up for some of the quality control issues on the food.

Parking is free for restaurant patrons as long as there is parking in the small parking lot and metered parking is available along and across the street. Arrive early and make sure it’s before sunset to catch the most aviation action. My husband is already taking about when we go back!

Flew in for a simple birthday date for my hubby. Sheltair greeted us warmly as did the staff at the restaurant. Laura was friendly, knowledgeable & efficient. Food was delicious, well presented & portioned nicely! Highly recommend if flying or driving in.

Stopped in and grabbed a drink before taking a helicopter tour. This is a cool bar showcasing wooden model airplanes hanging from the ceiling throughout the restaurant. The service was friendly and fast. Lots of seating available inside as well as on the patio. It overlooks the runway.

Far surpassed expectations. First of all, service was good, no issues at all. Second, there's airplanes taking off and landing right next to you.

Finally, the food is INCREDIBLE. Best fish tacos I've ever had, and I love fish tacos. The blueberry Gouda nachos are insane. Even the pasta salad is unique and delicious.

Heavily recommend.

Enjoyed a relaxing late lunch here. Great views of the runway and a very chill atmosphere. The dishes all came out on time, food was tasty and service was great.

The Hanger is a great restaurant and bar at the Albert Whidded Airport on the second floor. Windows all around to view private planes and helicopters taking off & landing. Large bar that serves great Bloody Mary's & brews. Fantastic service. Plenty of table seating, both indoor and on the outside balcony with a view of the Bay at the end of the runway. Private local flights available for an aerial view. The food was generously proportioned and very good. Breakfast available day and night. Large variety of healthy and delicious menu choices. Very close to the Dali museum and other venues. Highly recommended! Wheelchair accessible. Free parking.

Excellent. Wents here as part of my mom's bday weekend celebration. It was an awesome experience. Beautiful setting, great weather, and lots of planes/helicopters taking off or landing. If you're outside, prep your ears.

The restaurant has two sections, a large indoor area and a smaller balcony overlooking the runway. Highly recommend to sit at the balcony if it is available. We had the Shrimp Po' Boy, which was overflowing with shrimp. Very flavorful and much better than we were expecting! Had a great time sitting watching the planes land and take off. Will definitely be back if we're in the area.

Had not been in for awhile. Stopped by today to pickup a to go BLT and holy smokes! Excellent experience! It was lunch time so super busy but Lynn who was taking care of the bar took my order and served up an ice cold beer while I waited. Had time to look at the great new additions to the menu and then my order was ready. BEST BLT/Club sandwich (with fries) in the neighbourhood!! 👍👍

Great location — ambiance is top notch w views of downtown and the little airport. Came here via the SunRunner that drops off only a few blocks away — and it was close to the Cross Bay Ferry which we were taking to the Lightning Game. Definitely a great pregame stop — several people had the same idea.

Had a quick quesadilla and a drink and we were on our way. Definitely plan to stop and have dinner sometime in the near future!

Visiting St. Pete, staying nearby & stumbled on this restaurant. WOW! I had the Nashville chicken sandwich and my wife had the fish tacos... absolutely incredible flavor, presentation, everything. We stopped by again for lunch before we left - everything's was delicious. Staff are personable and restaurant is clean and welcoming. Plus you get to watch the air traffic first person.

My self my grandfather and mother went here and the food service and everything thing as a whole what amazing. We sat outside and looked at the airplanes take off and land which was really special because my grandfather is retired pilot. Our servers name was Travis and he was so kind and attentive. Overall I would definitely recommend this as a delightful place to eat.

Some places have a very nice atmosphere but lousy food. The Hangar has both Atmosphere (especially if you're an aviation buff), and very good food. Portions are decent along with moderate pricing.
This was my first time there and I truly enjoyed it. A repeat visit is in order. 👍

This is a gem in the heart of downtown St.Pete. U get to watch the planes take off and land! It's super neat and could get lost for hours watching. Music definitely sets a comfy vibe here. Service was wonderful. All of the ladies we encountered were super friendly and professional. Breakfast was really yummy as well. FREE ONSITE PARKING!! That is a huge perk in itself.
This is a fabulous idea for this little airport...a meal and a show. It's a great place for a date or family or even to show off our cute city when u have guests in town. A must see for sure

Great service and great evening at the Hangar. We stumbled upon it on a walk, and even though they were super busy, the service was great. We loved the shrimp appetizer and fish tacos. Great views too!

Amazing food and great views. Fish Tacos were great and wedge salad with salmon was amazing. Margarita was on point. We will definitely be back. Having a pilot in the family really helps. She rates every landing and take off. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. That’s ok. Life is meant to be enjoyed and not rushed.

Love this place! Always great service, and food has always been really good. I always bring visitors from out of town here and they have loved it as well. Need to come check out the Jazz night Mondays!

Salmon was cooked perfectly--juicy, delicious, and flavorful. Fondue appetizer was fun and different with green apple slices, toasted sourdough cubes, and strawberry halves. Ribeye was tender and appetizing, and the mile high carrot cake was worth the calories! Planes were flying in and out making a unique, interesting, and enjoyable view! Be sure to eat outside if it's not too hot. The temp and weather were perfect for our visit.
