Their Cincinnati chili mac is the best! Absolutely delicious. I've been going to Bar J since it was in a shack on Rte 1, and it never disappoints. Big portions, yummy chips and salsa and a little much improved atmosphere in Occoquan. The service was slow, but the food was worth it!

So this place is nestled in the little town called Occoquan Va. There are many little shops eateries and restuarants. There is also special events throughout the year. So if you want to spend a nice day in this fun little town then you must go to Bar Js. Its a Tex Mex restaurant on the water. They offer many specials throughout the week and music outside on the weekends. They also change the menu from time to time to bring new and wonderful food. Today I had a new item called Devil Chicken. It was full of flavor served hot. It has a nice bite to it served with refried beans rice and guacamole. This place also has a full bar for evening drinks and apps. The outside has many tables with umbrellas. They have heaters for cool evenings and some sand in some areas for that beachy feeling. There is an area of sand for small kids to pkay as well. Inside the place is clean and bathrooms kept nice. There is ample parking on there lot and adjacent lot under the bridge.

Great service and delicious food. Beautiful outdoor patio. We went on Saturday and they had a live singer, it created the perfect atmosphere. Definitely a place to check out in Historic Occuquan.

Great service. Indoor seating and bar. Beautiful waterfront seating outside (dog friendly). We had the Fajita salad, I had chicken, friend had beef and both were delicious. Chips and salsa were free and tasty. Highly recommend.

Love Bar J!! The staff is incredible, especially Mel. My Dad, myself and our dogs love to come here. She is literally the friendliest person ever and is so welcoming. We come here in hopes that she’ll be taking care of us. The chili here is incredible too. This isn’t just with us. I’ve been visiting here for years and the staff here is nothing short of AMAZING.

Delicious, especially the Texas chili, and plenty of other tex-mex options. Awesome and friendly service. Also, free chips and one of the best house salsas I've tried. You can clearly see their standard for excellence in the interrior decor and outdoor, waterfront yard / patio area--of course, along with their food. One of old town's best-kept secrets that should definitely NOT be a secret.

MEL was phenomenal!!! Chili recipes changed since I ate at Bar J years ago and I'm now allergic to it because of the green pepper. 😭 Mel went out of her way to apologize and remove it. Best customer service I've had in YEARS!

Accommodated a party of 8 for a friend's Birthday, made reservations. We were seated outside due to the beautiful weather (4-11-23) everything was amazing, great food, atmosphere, service. The owner even said hello 👋 tequila shots were plentiful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

I loved this spot. Tiki bar right on the water. their buffalo sauce is amazing- i will definitely be back. 10/10. kinda pricey but worth for the atmosphere and food

Everyone was very friendly! Food was great! Steak & chicken in the fajitas was delicious & very tender. We were super hungry and the service was amazing and fast. Highly recommend!!

We had such a good time on the outside patio. The water view was lovely. Service was fast and timely. Food portions were ample and we all enjoyed our meals. I had the frito bandits and it was fantastic!

The food was really good. Our server was so friendly. The only problem was she was the only server for most of time we were there and the restaurant was busy. Have been before, the food and service has always been excellent. Will go back again, just not peak lunch time on Sunday.

This is the best chili and Tex Mex place in the area, and that's saying something since there's a lot of good places. Loved this place for decades. They never disappoint. Well worth your time and money.

This place was amazing. Our first time, but definitely won't be the last.

My parents have been coming here since they were dating -- and they've been married 30 years and have followed this place in all their locations. We love the green chili burrito as well as the chili mac and the pork burrito. The chips and salsa are yummy and the drinks are cheap and delicious. We love the patio area in the warmer months. It is a great lunch spot for when you're spending the day enjoying the shops and trails in this area.

Had the best male server ever! Kicking myself for not getting his name. He knew the menu inside it out and he was just amazing! Attentive without overbearing. Food was good and satisfying. Outdoor dining so nice on the water, awesome server and amazing live musician combined to make it such an enjoyable evening.

The food was extremely flavorful, absolutely delicious. Even the iced tea was amazing, the chips are fresh and crispy, the IPA beer was perfection, the salsa was so tasty. Really a class A experience, especially sitting outside buy the river. The staff were so friendly and provided superb service. Annnnnnnnnd, the food was very reasonably priced.
