Grissom Library

What an awesome little gem! This has become my new favorite place to visit. Very nice selection of books. Great computer lab and printing area and most of all a very friendly and helpful staff. Seriously they are all wonderful people. They let you check out 50 items max and up to 10 DVDs or Blu-rays at a time! You can request another book from another branch sent over as well. I'm obsessed!

We visit this library weekly! They have a wonderful selection of books and movies. They even have a great selection of learning DVDs. I love that you can request and renew items via their website too. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are also many different activities held at the library. We love our library!!

Love this place -- everyone is friendly and helpful. It's very quiet and tucked through the trees by the police station, fire station, and the old courthouse. (Don't be alarmed by all of the police vehicles). Inside, it's never busy, but there's lots to do with a lot of resources. We are incredibly thankful for this refuge.

Staff is always friendly and helpful. They have different activities for all ages on different days.

I was able to easily park and locate the items I was looking for within minutes. The library associate was friendly and helpful during checkout.

I've been going to this library for almost 20 years since I used to do Battle of the Books in elementary school. The staff is so friendly and helpful and the library always has fun reading challenges to take part in.

If the book you're interested in isn't on the shelves here but it's in the library system, it's very easy to have it moved from other city library locations and it's usually available with a day or two.

Candice is great. She is on top of everything. She noticed what types of books seemed to interest the kids and brought us more suggestions, she gave them earbuds for the computer, she provided snacks, and she made sure we opened the videos we borrowed. She didn't need to ask what we needed. She paid attention and she knew.

Grissom Library is the library we visit most. We both enjoy the programs they host, and they are part of the larger Newport News library network So if what you want isn't there, you can request it from another library and have it delivered to yours. And the staff is super friendly and helpful, too!

Everybody is so kind and helpful. My seven year old and I attended the holiday craft event last night and we loved it. It was a great time to connect with my son. We made a really cool snowman ornament with a tea light.

I have been going to the Grissom since I was a child and I love it. The library truly has something for everyone, and it is a hidden treasure that a lot of people are missing out on! Imagine a place you can go to be able to take home as many books you want to read, audio books you want to listen to, movies you want to watch; all for free! When the covid crisis is over, they have a large number of free programs for the public as well, both fun and educational. Please come give the library a try! And also when covid is over, go downstairs to the Friends of the Library gift shop where you can buy books and music from 25 cents to $1! What a steal! And it's all organized like a book store. Best used book store EVER!! :-)

I love our Grissom Library staff! The summer reading program was fun. I enjoy the "search on line, reserve materials, and pick up when ready" service.

I am very pleased with Virgil Grissom Library staff Kim & Doug , two patient and kind persons I was in need of some office work that I had no clue of what to do Both patiently walk me through and made sure everything was done from start to finished , I must say what they’ve help me with was somewhere in the ball park of $30 Plus bucks which only cost me under $3.00 I am truly grateful for wonderful caring staff!!!

I love coming to this library the selection of books is large the atmosphere is good & the staff one in particular Crystal is just awesome love her.

The Best Community Library!
The staff are always eager to help you use the computer, print, scan or whatever. They offer compter classes and lots of community based programs. My tax dollars are well spent here!

Very curtious staff. Perfect spot to recharge my battery and my devices in between sales appointments. Quiet and I got a lot of paperwork done while there.
