St. Matthew's Parish

Found this church to attend while I’m Statesboro. Went to Mass for the second time yesterday. Beautiful Mass. I am very appreciative of the effort being made to share the Gospel. The priest celebrated his 11th anniversary of ordination!! Happy anniversary!! He said it at the begin of Mass in beautiful Spanish. Yesterday marked his first year as pastor of this church, so I was blessed to be there. He is doing an amazing job reaching out to the Hispanic community in their language. I can only imagine the beauty of his Masses in English! May God bless his journey!

As a snowbird I wanted to go to celebrate Ash Wednesday. I found a beautiful place of worship at St. Mathews Parish. Thank You for helping me to start my 40 day experience.

Wonderful faithful church that shares God’s love and purpose for our lives.

I arrived Statesboro in the fall of 2016, from Nigeria, to attend Grad school in the college nearby. Being from a catholic background back home, I found this church gave me all I needed to maintain my faith. The mass is meant to be a solemn celebration and everyone ought to see it as that . If you think mass here is boring, then you probably have not been to mass at cathedrals. Having lived down there for two and half yrs, and now living in the north - Boston and now NY, I can tell you that some of the best singing of the traditional catholic songs I have heard so far were down there in the south. I often went to the chapel to pray by myself and those yrs were probably some of the best yrs of my life as a catholic.

Beautiful church! Clean and ready to receive following Covid safety practices. Warm and friendly welcome for those of all ages. As a young mom I am happy to say there are plenty of other young families, older folks, and college age adults. Service is livestreamed every Sunday and any holy day of obligation.

My family began going in 1973. After years of being away from Statesboro it is nice to know that although the building is changed the atmosphere hasn't.

They have been so kind to let my sorority meet once a month in their Sunday school room. Thank you and God bless.
