Kimpton Cardinal Hotel

Wow! One of the best hotels we’ve visited! The Kimpton hotels haven’t let us down. The room was clean and simply gorgeous. The building is so unique! The Katharine had great breakfast, and the bar served wonderful cocktails. Our family loved the bowling and basketball activities in the recreation room. Very family and dog friendly! Would highly recommend!

I came into dine for lunch recently & the experience was top tier. My server was Cynthia who was very pleasant & attentive. She made sure my order was correct & I had everything I needed ti enjoy my meal. Thank you as well to the chefs my salmon was perfect.🫶🏾

But what prompted the review was stellar personal service from Preston Draughn. He was breaking down the coffee service and heard us talking about how there wasn’t a microwave to reheat some leftovers for our kids.

He stopped what he was doing and walked me down to the employee break room and waited with me while I heated the food for the kids. Then escorted me back, all the while making great convo and acting so graciously.

People like this are bound for great things, especially in the hospitality industry. I hope the Cardinal knows how lucky they are to have him on board. He truly cares about people and cares about the clients of the hotel. His actions speak the loudest. What a gem. Thanks Preston!

There are so many good things I want to say, I’m not even sure where to begin! I want to start off with saying the staff are wonderful - from the valet, to the front desk, restaurant, and everything in between. The vibe of the hotel and all of the complimentary amenities (gym, game room area, wine happy hour, etc) to name a few, have made our trip a 10/10. The front desk even texted me after we got to our room to ensure our stay was exceptional. The hotel feels super safe and comfortable, needing a key to access your floor. The cleanliness of our room and the common areas is impressive! I have nothing but good things to say, and I can’t wait to stay at a IHG hotel in the future. Thank you, Kimpton Cardinal staff!

Our family had a good stay there. Everyone provided good service. Hannah at the front desk was exceptional. I asked her if they had some coloring books for my kids. She was very kind and professional and showed me all the options. Very thoughtful. She is great!

We always enjoy our special weekends visiting WFU and hoping to be able to stay at The Cardinal. This last weekend it was raining. The staff was quick to provide umbrellas at the door and when we departed a watch was left in the room. Keisha from housekeeping turned it in and Ryan (manager) quickly called me to tell me the watch is already packaged and will be sent back to me asap. Fantastic ethics and service. Thank you.

Our non-profit hosted our annual Board Retreat at the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel in late November 2023. There were roughly 54 people staying, including very high profile business individuals. Let me start off by saying that the experience was nothing less than PERFECT! Every single person that stayed was so impressed. We have stayed at many hotels over the years for our fall convening and the Kimpton absolutely exceeded our expectations.

First, the communication from the hotel's team was top tier ever since I first called showing interest in learning more about group stays. A special shoutout is deserved for "Sydney Blair - Group Sales Manager" who picked up the phone every time I called, responded quicky to every email I sent, and even took me on a tour of the surrounding hotel area to have a better idea of what our group could enjoy while in Winston. She also corrected any and every alteration I requested over the many months period of pre planning!

Second, the rooms and event spaces were beautiful at the hotel. The cleanliness of the entire building is incredible, especially the bedrooms. You can tell their staff take great pride in maintaining a well looking and running facility. Sydney helped me plan a sushi making activity for our staff and Board alongside a cocktail hour before our dinner hosted just down the hall. The set ups were done so well and the sushi making was a hit! Thank you to the hotel's head chef for teaching us all. Dinner was delicious as we had things like steak medallions, chicken cutlets, mashed potatoes, brussels sprouts, and a dessert so good I may have had thirds ha! Another employee needing a shoutout is "Elisabeth Catterton - Catering and Conference Service Manager" who made sure all of the onsite activities and dinner was planned flawlessly.

Lastly, the valet service was AWESOME! I was concerned at first due to the time constraint of a little over 30 minutes for 30+ cars to arrive in front of the hotel for valet service. The Kimpton guaranteed me they would be able to accomplishment with zero issues. I was blown away because it went perfectly. In fact, all of the guests rooms were ready for check in too even though it was the morning hours. WOW!

Overall, our company and Board would give the Kimpton Cardinal Hotel a 5/5 stars on every possible area. Please be sure to do business with them if you plan to come to Winston-Salem. They even have a slide, basketball court, bowling alley, arcade, and more in the basement! Additionally, the hotel even shined our company colors on top of the building the nights we stayed. They went over the top... Thank you Kimpton!

I just want to shout out the amazing staff at Kimpton Cardinal Hotel. Specifically, I received amazing customer service from Hannah Taylor. We had a package shipped to the hotel to be held until check in and we thought maybe it hadn't been delivered due to some weird Fedex notifications. Hannah went out of her way to check all around the hotel for it and even updated me several times until the package was located. I really appreciated her amazing customer service and her dedication to helping me today!

Stayed for a long weekend exploring Winston Salem and lover the Kimpton. The Katherine is great and bowling in the basement is LEGIT!

Very nice accommodations at a reasonable rate. The staff was friendly and the hotel has a lot of charm. Our room was comfortable with a very generous shower. As with most older hotel buildings that are built solid as a mountain, the hotel is pleasingly quiet. The only issue that some might have had was the location of our 4th floor room. Outside one of the windows was a huge air handling unit, a floor or two below. While we actually like the white noise of a fan running, some might find it annoying. For those folks, maybe requesting a street-facing room would be a good idea. The location was convenient for us to walk to our event and the surrounding businesses. We will definitely stay here again when life brings us to Winston-Salem again.

Phenomenal facility and location. So much to do nearby and some of the coolest on site options. Daryl is an incredible GM and a class act. Highly recommended!

Wonderful upscale hotel with thoughtfully appointed rooms and a cozy restaurant and bar area. Service at this hotel is the best. Walking distance to many nice restaurants and entertainment options.

This hotel gives off major classic and sophisticated art-deco vibes. It was such a wonderful experience for the four days and three nights that I was able to utilize their services during a fantastic regulatory medicine and stem cell summit! The staff were very welcoming, and the valet was exceptional, especially given the limited parking around the hotel. A notable exception to limited street parking was the public parking garage behind the building, which was not the most convenient to use given what looked like substantial construction set up inside.

I love that they have special floors for pets and don't charge extra for your fur babies. This was a significant accommodation because "if they fit through the doors," they can stay; I felt that to be a thoughtful aspect of the hotel's services. The hotel's pet policy was a refreshing point of great convenience, considering if I had brought my family, it would have included our two Bernese Mountain Dog puppies.

Nevertheless, come here! Stay and enjoy their chocolat pot de creme (an exceptional dessert) after feasting with friends, family, or colleagues at the adjoining restaurant. You will undoubtedly enjoy your stay!

Valet and luggage assistance was quick and friendly. Preston made a great first impression.

First of all, I am a fan of Kimpton hotels. However, this hotel is UNMATCHED!!! The usual amenities in addition to the game room makes you feel like you are in wonderland or an all-inclusive resort. The best part is the service and the staff. Tyler was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! He rolls out the red carpet to ensure your stay is more than enjoyable. As I walked by to explore the city, he would inquire about my stay and if there was anything I needed. The attention to detail and personal care made me feel at home. Tyler was intentional and provided elevated service. He truly made my trip memorable and created a great wonderful birthday. Another staff member was Hannah. She was my “happy hour” girl and made easy conversation to help me feel welcome despite being alone. There is NO other place you should stay except here. You want quality service and an amazing service. This hotel is it!!! Thank you for an UNFORGETTABLE experience!!!!!

Arguably the best hotel in Winston Salem. Starts out with a great front desk staff. Very comfortable lobby/reading area right next to check-in. And on the other side is the Katherine Brasserie and Bar - also arguably the best restaurant in Winston Salem. Rooms are spacious, well appointed and very comfortable. Quiet too. It is also a pet-friendly hotel. Very lively atmosphere in the lobby/restaurant, but none of the noise flows into the rooms, which is very nice. Valet parking takes care of the minimal parking in the area. And the prices are reasonable for such a nice hotel (though I'm sure they go up during peak periods for the local schools).

It all started with the front door, very responsive to our needs and valet service was excellent throught our stay. Check-in was simple and efficient, front entrance definitely makes a statement! Room was very clean, turn down service - loved it - also liked the views too. We forgot a couple items, they sent some up to our room right away, thanks! Having The Katharine restaurant and bar was awesome, a little expensive but we are right downtown too. Food was awesome, drinks excellent and service was very good. Everyone we came in contact with was very customer service oriented, someone has done a good job training and supervising their people. Overall stay was very nice, we'd do it again.

I recently stayed in this hotel for work totaling four weeks and I was very pleased. Great experience! The concierge, valet and employees of the hotel & restaurant were incredibly welcoming. They always made it a point to greet me by name every morning before leaving for work. The valet had my vehicle waiting outside every day at 8:30 am sharp. The coolest part was the basketball court, bowling alley, and old world charm of the architecture. All in all it was a great break while away from home working.

We were driving to South Carolina from Ontario Canada and this was the perfect place to stop after about 12 hours of driving. The hotel is simply fantastic. We have never stated in the hotel with such a big game's room and an indoor half court basketball court. I can't believe they also had arcades, and my favorite game Street fighter was there.

My teenage boys thoroughly enjoyed the basketball court while I waited for them playing the arcades.

The service was impeccable as well. This was all the way from check in to check out.

We stayed in a room with double clean beds and a full of sofa for the five of us.

The hotel was also very close to a number of coffee shops, which gave us a few more options in the morning.
