University Inn

First time staying here and if I ever need to be in the area for the Duke Clinics again I will stay there. All staff was friendly and accommodating and they had a shuttle to the clinics. The shuttle drivers that I met were so nice and seemed to really care about the patients.

the ppl at the front desk was very friendly & the ppl who drove the shuttle to & from the hospital was very polite & friendly. made my time there very pleasant as i visited & cared for my mom at duke hospital.. grateful for the ppl who work here!! Ty again! best hotel ever!!!

Visiting a friend who was staying there. Beautiful room and large. This room was updated with a microwave and new mini fridge. Bathroom was separated with sink in one of the room and toilet with tub across the room. Table and chairs with comfortable beds. Room service was daily. Highly recommend and this is close to VA and Duke hospital.

Always clean and friendly. Convenient free shuttle within 3 miles of hotel. Walking distance to Duke University Hospital.

I actually really like this hotel a lot our layout was amazing it was literally like a studio apartment we had double beds a pull out couch bed a recliner and I believe another couch like real cozy and comfortable it’s not a suite so no stove it was me my Uncle , Niece and Mother literally perfect for a few relatives……..you have a large window view , the bathrooms were so very clean it was a vibe there was a very helpful Spanish concierge down at the desk he was really really nice it’s so quiet around that area and your close to downtown and plenty of food places by car

I was very pleased with the stay overall. Good price, very clean, personable staff. I was able to fully relax during my Mom's stay at Duke. I would definitely stay again, and recommend.

Such a lovely place at truly reasonable prices. While it's not all new & shiny, it's VERY clean, well decorated and updated. The staff is extremely helpful and accommodating knowing that most guests are there because of their very close proximity to Duke University Hospital.

The staff was great. Room was nice. Very easy to get to the cancer center. The shuttle bus driver was awesome. He took us to cancer center and we walked back to the hotel to get car.

University Inn at Duke is an excellent location if you are visiting Durham for the first time and even for returning visitors. Location is excellent! It is walking distance from Duke University and the Hospital. Front desk people are all very nice and helpful and the housekeepers are very good in cleaning our room everyday. They also found my missing earring, returned my silk pillow case and greet us everyday with a smile. We are also very grateful for our shuttle driver Sharice. She is wonderful! Everyone here goes extra mile in giving good service and they make us feel at home during our stay for a week. Will stay here again

Staying here for a medical appointment in the morning. Friendly and helpful staff, very clean, spacious room. Free coffee in the lobby 24/7. So appreciative of a clean, comfortable, hotel just one block from the hospital to stay at for an early morning appointment in the morning!

The University Inn was very nice and quiet. My sister in law was in the hospital and it was very convenient, within 5 minutes or less to walk there. My sister and I shared a room, it had microwave, fridge, ironing board and iron etc. And best of all No carpet. Would go again but I hope it's not to visit hospital

I have stayed here several times when going through treatments and have been pleased with it . The staff is very friendly and accommodating. It’s a very clean hotel .. You do have breakfast , lunch and snack items available down stairs for a min charge . Coffee & hot tea is always free . It’s good if you are not wanting a big breakfast in the morning . It’s within walking distance to Duke hospital but they do offer shuttle service through the week . I will definitely stay here again .

I can't say thank you enough to the person that recommended this hotel. The staff was very kind, professional and responsive to all of our needs. Toya, Pinky, Carlos, Gail, Brian, Alexandra and Jose were absolutely phenomenal. It didn't matter what time of day, we were greeted and encouraged to let them know if we needed anything. Rorie kept our spirits up and made every shuttle ride special. He was very good with making recommendations for dining as well. Everything was clean and we saw people cleaning throughout the day. The service was by far one of the best experiences we encountered. I would definitely recommend the University Inn whenever you are in the area.

Our first time staying here and it was a great stay. Rooms were clean and very spacious. Staff was so nice from late check in to early check out. We actually felt like we were cared for. Thanks University Inn for making this dreaded trip a good stay. If you are in the Durham area and need a place to stay, we recommend University Inn for your stay.

A very nice place to stay. You can walk to Duke hospital and the VA. Very clean and quiet. Accomodating staff.

We've stayed here on average 2 a year for about 5 years now. Always a simple and straightforward check-in procedure. Rooms are clean, don't smell, and have enough room to move around. The best part in our opinion is proximity to the hospital. It removes a TREMENDOUS amount of stress on those early morning procedures. Hardest part will be the parking garage 😉

Great hotel, especially if visiting for medical purposes (ask about the discount). Extra large room with plenty of space to spread out. Firm beds, with nice crisp and clean sheets. Tiny bathroom, but clean. Very friendly staff. Light but adequate breakfast. Parking can be a pain, but it wasn't awful. Our 2 yr old son had a great time in the rocker and lots of room to run after the long drive. Quiet rooms, never really heard the other guests on our floor. Will definitely stay again.

This was my first time staying at the University Inn, but it won’t be my last! The staff was friendly and helpful when our Duke medical team had us stay longer than expected. I believe the rude staff member mentioned in a review a couple weeks ago has been let go, since I saw the managers (hi Brian!) taking some night shifts and no one I interacted with acted this way.

The room was HUGE and very clean, with plenty of outlets/charging ports, space to sit and relax, and storage areas. The room wasn’t fancy, but it wasn’t dated, either, and the bed was very comfortable. There is a dorm fridge with a freezer compartment, a microwave, and a bar sink on a spacious counter area that we used for caring for medical needs. I felt like the rooms were very much designed for people who are medical “frequent flyers”—we could’ve stayed comfortably in that room much longer, if we needed (and we have had to stay in rooms for months at a time before).

I DO wish there was a breakfast spread available, since having one really makes it easy to get out to your appointments in the morning. The price point of the hotel typically comes with complimentary breakfast, so I hope they consider reinstating this feature. They DID have coffee/decaf/hot water, creamers, sweeteners available 24/7, which I took full advantage of. They also had several food items available for purchase, which we did as well. The shuttle will take you to a local Food Lion or Harris Teeter grocery store, and that was super helpful in the food department. There was laundry soap and dryer sheets available in the vending machine. Washer and dryer are $2/load, each. Kinda pricey, but thankful it’s at least available.

Overall, a great first experience with a hotel right next to Duke Medical. If you’re used to the medical grind and need a place to stay, don’t pass up this underrated facility! They will take good care of you :)
