My Golden had both ACL surgeries this year, one in May and one in Oct. I don’t like leaving out baby over night but the staff was extremely nice and made Bailey feel like she was at home. Izzie is AMAZING and Becky at the desk was so friendly and loved giving Bailey hugs when she came in. Dr Birk is very knowledgeable, great at what he does and has a great bedside manner which you don’t find every where! Highly recommend!!! I attached a copy of our Bailey when we picked her up for Halloween. She came home in a Halloween costume (Izzie made)

Very caring and professional. I liked being able to call and check up on my dog if I wanted to. However they called during and after surgery. Treated my dog just like a person which is what I wanted. We followed the doctor’s postop instructions 100% . Good outcome too. Update-1/16/24 My dog has continued to improve and is back to herself. Thanks!! Update 2/24/24- She runs like she used to. Update 5/31/24- just like a new dog! 100% recovery! Thank you again.

Second times a charm for our big boy Jack! Second TPLO surgery done by Dr. Birks! We wouldn’t have any other surgeon take care of our boy! Staff and follow up were great! 10/10!

Our golden retriever needed TPLO surgery and we originally scheduled with our vets office, only for them to push it back a whole month and we knew she couldn’t wait that long. We’re so thankful for Veterinarian Orthopedic Surgery Center for getting us in so quickly and doing a wonderful job tending to our Luna. We were put at ease when we were told she would receive round the clock care and attention as she stayed overnight to heal. The staff is so friendly and the surgeon called us often to keep us in the loop. If she ever needs another surgery, we will go back in a heartbeat. Strongly recommend!!!

My dog received excellent care, not only by the Vet, but by his staff as well. If your 4-legged family member needs specialty care, I would highly recommend the Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery Center. If my dog Calvin could write a review, he would also highly recommend them as well.

Our vet had recommended the Orthopedic Center for luxating patella surgery on our Boston Terrier. The office staff was professional from start to finish. After meeting Dr. Burke, we were completely comfortable with our dog having her surgery here. They kept in regular contact with us before and after surgery. I would highly recommend this place without hesitation. I would also like to add a special shout out to Becky, for loving on our little Sprout as if she were her own.

My five year old Cavalier tore his CCL and was in debilitating pain. Dr Birks performed the TPLO & MPL surgery about six weeks ago.
I observed an improvement within a week in Louie’s pain and mood. The recovery process was much better than I expected. Post-op instruction, communication and follow up were excellent.
The staff is amazing! I knew he would be in good hands and well taken care of at our initial visit.
He still has some healing to do but I am very pleased with the surgery technique that Dr. Birks performed.

Everyone at the clinic was especially nice and caring. For them, TPLO surgery is an everyday occurrence but they made me feel like my dog was their main focus and priority while she was there! I really liked all of the phone calls they made with the consistent updates. My dog had both legs done about 18 months apart and her recovery on both has been outstanding!

Recently I had to have a fractured elbow repaired on my German Shepard
My vet in Illinois recommended the Veterinarian Clinic Ofallon, Mo .
I was very worried as it was a terrible fracture , Dr Birk was my Veterinarian Surgeon who repaired my Shepard , he went above and beyond to put every piece back in place as well has made plates and screws to reconstruct his elbow , it’s only 2 wks and my dog is making amazing progress ! I am so thankful for all of the team at this great clinic ! They were also reassuring me as the surgery was 6 hrs , I’m blessed that their experienced clinic has made my Shepards life and mobility next to as perfect as can get ! Thank you to Dr Birk and your great clinic team .

Dr Burk did an amazing job on my miniature Goldendoodle…We are in our second week of recovery and he is doing very well. He is even putting some weight on that leg now… Clancy and I say Thank you!!!!❤

My Aussie, Sweet Pea, is just one of my four special kids! He needed surgery for an ACL tear. My husband and I and Sweet Pea went in and met with Dr. BIRKS for a consultation and we were very impressed with his professionalism, knowledge and his compassion with our beloved Pea. The staff kept us informed with his treatment the day of surgery and follow up calls post surgery which meant a lot to me. Everyone went out of their way with caring for Sweet Pea and making sure he had the best care. He is recovering very well. I would not hesitate calling on Dr. BIRKS and his wonderful staff for future care and would not hesitate recommending him to anyone looking for a good surgeon for their cherished and beloved pet.

My German Shepherd broke his elbow, and my vet referred me to Dr. Birks. His staff was so kind and comforting, and Becky was extra special wonderful.
I had a concern one evening after surgery, and I emailed a video for Dr. Birks to watch. I was so pleasantly surprised how quickly he got back to me that same evening.

Absolutely fantastic group to work with. Roxie was so loved and treated so well. Our girl had two surgeries with Dr. Burke. Healing well with both. Hopefully we won’t ever need to visit again , but if we do, we won’t hesitate to call on you again. Wonderful wonderful hospital!

Our 5 year old lab tore her CCL and had to have the TPLO procedure. We were so stressed about the injury and surgery, but fortunately we were referred to Dr. Birks and his team and couldn't be happier. The procedure went very well and our pup is well on her way to recovery. Everyone at the office is so kind and we are so appreciative of what they have done for us. Highly recommend them.

I can’t say enough good things about this practice! They were able to get our dog in quickly for a procedure. We were updated frequently during and after the surgery. Dr. Birks and the staff are very knowledgeable. Every staff member that we encountered was very kind.

We are so thankful to have found Dr. Birks and his office! Our 5-year-old doodle tore his CCL in October. We are from Columbia and were waiting to hear from the University. Sadly, they are very understaffed and couldn’t see us for months! We had to wait a few weeks to see Dr. Birks, but after the consultation we were able to get in for surgery the very next week. We had the TPLO done for a complete tear. We did our research and knew what to expect. These reviews helped us to feel good about Dr. Birks. His office and professionalism showcased his high rating.

If you are facing TPLO know that it will be rough those first few days home. The more you can do to prepare ahead of time, the better your outcome will be. It is a blessing that Dr. Birk’s office will keep pup overnight for the first night. Many others will not and from what I’ve read those pets and owners struggle when home that first night. We emailed Dr. Birks a few times after surgery with questions and he always replied right away. Our local vet was able to help with medication refills, so we didn’t have to drive back to St. Louis.

Our boy had his 8-week post op and showed great healing! We are out of the danger zone and ready to slowly return to normal. Our boy had limited bruising and swelling. I have seen many other pets online that had large amounts of both. I credit Dr. Birks technique and experience for our great healing. Preparing your home ahead of time is critical for a good outcome.

Pro tip – make sure and get a basic sling to help support them when walking. We bought one from Amazon and used it for the first two weeks. It helped to keep him slow and easy.

This hospital is so caring of you and your pet, these people are so heart felt from the first time I walked in the door.

From the front desk staff to Dr. Birks, everyone is very friendly and welcoming as well as informative. They all kept my mind at ease as Phoebe went into surgery and as she came out! I would highly recommend the Veterinary Orthopedic Surgery Center for any needs your fur babies may have.

Louis was very well cared for. I felt very comfortable with everything and everyone. There an hour away from home ill go again.

The staff is extremely helpful and provided amazing care for our Victorian Bulldog. He is recovering nicely and exactly as they said he would. Great place to take your family member.
