Vin Rouge

Everything about Vin Rouge is just the best. The service is impeccable every time. I've never had anything here that wasn't prepared perfectly. I prefer the indoor dining experience more than the patio, but that's just because of how good the restaurant smells on the inside. I always recommend Vin Rouge to anyone who wants to celebrate a special occasion because they are so gracious and kind.

Absolutely amazing - while you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, Clare’s eyes lit up when she described the pork chop. I consider myself a pork chop snob and she convinced me to try it, and it did not disappoint. Truly a hidden gem on the menu. Great wine list as well as bourbon at good prices. Oysters fabulous and also fairly priced. We ate at the bar and Clare and Spencer were so hospitable (as were the customers). It’s now saved as a favorite!

Our first time at Vin Rouge was a wonderful experience for two reasons: excellent food and great staff. We ordered four things from the menu (salmon, a salad, and two appetizers) and all of them were prepared to perfection. If you have a meal at Vin Rouge, we feel confident that the quality of food you experience will confirm our judgment. Our greeting lady was very pleasant. Our waitress, Kate, provided excellent service and handled everything superbly from start to finish. Semih is an outstanding manager, very professional and polite. He took the time to speak with us and impressed us as the exactly right type of person for what he is doing. A big thank-you to Vin Rouge for a great evening!

What a wonderful experience! From the moment I walked in the front door it was such a treat. The staff are amazing! Friendly, attentive, and all give such personal service! And the food!!! From the authentic French variety on the menu, (some of which I was not familiar with) to the amazing atmosphere... wonderful! Looking for a special date night or celebration, this is definitely somewhere to put on the list.

We haven’t made it here in a while but finally had a chance on Saturday night. Everything was perfect. Food and service were excellent. One of our favorites in Durham for sure!

We already knew Vin Rouge to serve some of the most delicious food in the Triangle (in our opinion), but now we know they are also the most incredible event host as well. Vin Rouge helped us host our wedding reception in their incredibly beautiful Garden Patio space. From day one, Meredith, the event coordinator, was amazing to work with. She was patient, kind, full of ideas and suggestions. She was also accepting of our budget and given that, worked with us to bring our wedding day vision to life. Our wedding reception exceeded both my husband and my expectations. From the food, to the drinks, to the service, to the physical space itself, to the patience Meredith and every one of the waitstaff had with us when our schedule got off-kilter, we felt so incredibly welcome and loved the whole night. We feel so grateful Vin Rouge was willing to be a part of our big day. And we know where we will be celebrating the anniversary of our marriage from this day forth.

Went here with some great friends and company. Food was on the more expensive side, but this was expected, and absolutely, 100% worth it. The atmosphere was extremely comfortable, and our waitress was down to earth and helped on any menu choices we couldn't recognize.

Delicious food, great service, will definitely be back!! Date Night so we brought a very nice bottle of champagne ($30 corkage). Also had 2 cocktails,enjoyed it with a Dozen Fresh Oysters (Beausoleils & Sea Salts), Escargot, Frisee Salad, Halibut Special, Burger Special, Macaroni Gratin, Chocolate Torte and a Lemon Tart with a Bruleed Crust...amazing!!! Love the ambiance, it wasn't busy but the vibe was perfect for an intimate dinner with yours truly. Prices are really good for a nice dinner. We did all that for $235.

Jonathan made our Christmas date night extra special with amazing service, expert descriptions/recommendations on both food and wine, and a couple extras he threw in to make our night the best experience we've had in awhile. Thanks Jonathan and Vin Rouge for the top notch experience. We'll be back as usual (and everyone reading this should be too)!!

I was glad that I finally decided to come to Vin Rogue for dinner. Our server, Jason, was great and provided some great recommendations. We ordered appetizers, entrees and dessert. The escargot and sweetbreads were both full of flavor and were a great start. We then ordered the chicken with tarragon and Dijon sauce and the poisson du jour, which was seared scallops Provençal. Both were refreshing and had so much flavor. The chicken was juicy and the scallops were cooked just right, and not tough like some places. Overall this was a very pleasant meal and were were glad to finish it off with some excellent chocolate mousse. I’m already looking forward to my next meal here!

Me and my wife dined here recently. I've been wanting to take her here for months and we finally made it. We drove 2 hours for the experience and I can say it was totally worth it! The service and the food was excellent. I love Escargot and I can't find it anywhere but here. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and even the tiniest mistake was rectified on the spot immediately by both manager and waitstaff without us even noticing something had gone awry! Absolutely amazing and I recommend Vin Rouge greatly. Will be back

Vin Rouge is one of my favorite reception spaces in Durham. It's feels intimate even for larger parties, is a perfect backdrop to feel transported to France. The food is divine and they treat vendors with the most respect. I love shooting weddings here and recommend it as a reception location for my couples.

Awesome crème brulee and they stock Lagavulin 16 at the bar I found out on my first visit recently... Will be back for a real meal soon!

Excellent every single time. Some of the best French food around, even better than most French bistros in Paris.

Updated review: Vin Rouge is truly a hidden gem. While living in Durham, my husband and I dined at Vin Rouge close to 10 times (once a month while living there) and since moving to New York, I still think fondly of Vin Rouge and am yet to find something just as good and ive search in both New York and Paris! From the food to the service and ambiance, Vin Rouge is not to be missed if you're looking to dine out in the triangle area.

Delicious dinner. Staff was attentive and and food & drinks were great. Typical of most Durham restaurants; there isn’t a lot of parking but they do have a small lot & street parking as well. Their outdoor seating is protected from weather. Menu isn’t very extensive but everyone in our party enjoyed their meals. Good experience.

Looking from the outside you would never expect to find such a romantic, intimate, cozy inside. Much more seating than I would have thought as well. We started with some wine for wife and beer for me. Various options in water. All great. Appetizers was a goat cheese and onion quiche with side salad and escargot with butter for dipping. Both was delicious. Entrees was the steak and fries cooked perfectly and pork served with a gravy and mashed potatoes with red cabbage. For dessert the mousse was perfection!

We loved our experience at Vin Rouge. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, helpful, and just the right level of checked-in to our meal. We will definitely return the next time we are in Durham.

Update: We did return!! And it was just as good, if not better! They took my dietary restrictions very seriously, and the menu is very friendly boasting whole foods. The price is too low for such an amazing meal.

Wow just wow! Came here for the first time last weekend for an early valentines dinner with my husband. This place is so cute and cozy with amazing food and drinks! I tried the New York strip steak with the fries, amazing! Also had a cocktail and a wine, both were good quality and so good! To top it off, our waitress, Katie, was phenomenal! She made us feel right at home. Can’t recommend this place enough!

Incredible dining experience. We sat in the back, and ordered the hanger steak. The steak was absolutely fantastic. The server wa timely, and friendly. This was one of the best dining experiences I have had in the triangle. Enthusiastically recommend this place.

Absolutely delicious!! Went there for a Valentine’s Day date and had the 3 cheese charcuterie board, NY strip, salmon, apple bread pudding and crème brûlée. Everything was so delicious!! The salmon had a breading for a crust that was so good. The desserts were both phenomenal as well. Really enjoyed my dinner here.
