Salem Cemetery

Beautiful and peaceful cemetery. Historical and meaningful as my great-grandparents are resting here. RJR, Hanes, Gray's and more prominent Winston-Salem families are here. Grounds are well maintained.

Beautiful 🪦 cemetery with rich history right in the heart of downtown and Old Salem. Beautiful for a walk or to honor a loved one. Some of the crypts, the mausoleums, and graves are beautiful and unique, perfect for a walk or scenic tour. The cemetery is accessible with ♿ handicap accessible parking on all four sides.

It may sound odd but this is one of my favorite places of all time. This is the most beautiful cemetery that I have ever seen. It's huge complete with Mausoleums beautiful huge tombstone's that are truly a work of art. I wish I could be buried here. Tobacco pioneer RJ Reynolds is....I can't express the beauty you have to see it for yourself. Romantic great place to stroll with your partner. Especially lovely in the fall .

Salem Cemetery is a beautiful, old cemetery, lovingly maintained by a dedicated staff. Please do not confuse it with the adjacent Salem Moravian God's Acre. It also is beautiful, but it is a completely different cemetery. The stones in the Moravian graveyard all all flat and rectangular, in straight rows.

Beautiful cemetery. This is one of my favorite places to relax, find random nooks of graves that I’d never seen before, take pictures, etc. Groundskeepers are friendly. The Patterson plot is my absolute favorite — so serene.

Was the Salem Cemetery once known a "God's Acre" since it is so close to Home Moravian Church? If so, it would be nice to have a note to that effect. I attended the funeral when my uncle, Thor Martin Johnson, was buried in God's Acre.

This is actually a beautiful place to come on a nice day and has very cool historical relevance. R.j Reynolds is buried here.

Awesome place

A pretty neat, small, historic cemetery. Here you can find the graves of Pleasant Henderson Hanes and Richard Joshua Reynolds, two of the most influential businessmen for Winston-Salem's economic growth in the 1890s-early 1900s.

Really pretty cemetery. It looks there is a lot of beautiful headstones and history in here. There are a bunch of signs around the cemetery that say no trespassing so that kinda stinks.
