The atmosphere was super cute and the staff were very helpful. Had a grand entrance with visually appealing murals for kids and adults who can reminisce about their child literacy heroes. Has a coffee shop and bar attached though it was closed due to a private event. Large book selection. Highly recommend to support independent bookstores.

Love this bookstore! For starters it’s a nonprofit so I feel like every purchase has a positive contribution. They also do tons of events both free and paid. They have lots of book clubs that are open to the public and the books are displayed in store. They also have tons of workers suggestions. Some stores have a few but they had so many which was nice! I’ve also found that some times independent stores don’t have the best selection but that is not the case here. The coffee shop attached is also cute and convenient

We love Bookmarks! My daughter and I love going to this independent bookstore! Everyone is so friendly and helpful. We also love the special events the staff plans and carries out. Bookmarks is truly a booklovers paradise, independent of corporate oversights, and free of big box "monopoly shape stores." Bookmarks is unique in every way.

Good selection of books. Not enough Marvel & DC graphic novels in the store. I saw many Marvel Marvel graphic novels on their online website but not in the store pricing $$-$$$.

Such an awesome bookstore! The events calendar is not to be missed. They bring authors to a wider audience and serve readers of all ages. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and well-read. I can always get excellent recommendations even when I have to start with “I need something for a kid who has already read everything…” and I come away with the perfect purchases. I love their mission and am glad to support them.

What a beautiful store! Natural light, tons of books, and even a little café. One of the best bookstores I have ever visited.

It is a hidden gem. You can find a whole variety of books, from philosophy to kids literature. There is also a caffee where you can eat something. The kids zone is amazing, very comfy. I really enjoyed this place

I love the array of books they offer, even if you don't find what you want. They'll have something similar. I love the recommendations I receive from the team every time!

This bookstore was well organized, clean, and had an amazing atmosphere. Definitely a favorite in Winston-Salem.

Fantastic indie bookstore! The owner was very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere was terrific—and it certainly didn’t hurt that there’s a lovely indie coffeehouse next door. I even went back the next day!!

Amazing independent bookstore. My husband and I went as a little date the week of our anniversary! I walked out with three beautiful books I’ve had on my to-read list for months. The store was spotlessly clean and the books are put out very aesthetically on the shelves. The staff was knowledgeable and welcoming and friendly! I plan to make this a regular visiting spot.

I love this bookstore that began as a writer's festival in Winston Salem, NC. The children's section is large and has a sweet little section with stadium seating for story-time. As you can see, the children's section is not the only space for little ones to enjoy a book! The adult fiction, nonfiction, poetry and cooking sections are extensive, as well. And, of course, if they don't have the book you want, they'll order it for you.

A true treasure of a bookstore -- a great variety of genres and well chosen books! Be sure to catch their events and public readings, you won't be disappointed. The staff is friendly & helpful, the interior is fantasticly flexible! Have you ever seen rolling bookshelves? They got 'em!

Really neat bookstore that prides itself on having a ton of book clubs and meet and greets. An employee heard a friend and I talking about Taylor Jenkins Reid and now we are going to her keynote in September!

Awesome independent bookstore!! I've been to several authors' book launches and signings...always a first rate experience!! Excellent!!

Every time we visit, I love Bookmarks even more! Fun, family friendly, chill book store with fantastically helpful employees. Case in point: this morning my daughter asked for a mermaid book. I asked Guy if he could search by topic, and off he went. Within 3-4 minutes he was back with a list of books and found them for us. My child got a book with mermaids today thanks to his great customer service and follow through. We enjoy going to story time there when we can, and Bookmarks is fostering a love of reading in our children. I can't ask for any more than that.

I love visiting local bookstores when travelling/visiting new places. I've seen my fair share of bookstores and Bookmarks is my favorite bookstore yet. The staff are so welcoming and the book selection is always great (I love their thriller and fiction selection).

I also appreciate that it's an independent bookstore and supports the surrounding community. They have great, inclusive events, and are always coordinating authors for book talks/shows. Plus - it's such a great location and atmosphere (and offers reward points!).
