Blue Corn Cafe

Food was very good and reasonably priced. The Cuban sandwich was not what I am used too. It was not pressed and there was no mustard. That being said, it was still very good.

Very tasty food in a feminine atmosphere. We had spinach enchiladas and chicken Avocado salad.

Blue Corn Cafe is one of the best restaurants in Durham and has been around for almost 30 years - the same owners! The restaurant is eclectic and cozy and attractive. The food is fun and delicious and authentic. The staff are perfection - kind, knowledgable, and genuine. My family and I will continue to frequent this beloved Bull City establishment - it is the best!

First-time diners and the experience did not disappoint! The restaurant was spacious and clean, and the staff was extremely friendly. Our server, Tessa, was very knowledgeable of the food selections and provided us with exceptional service. We ordered guacamole for an appetizer, and it was delicious. The steak fajitas were tasty, and the black beans were out of this world. I highly recommend giving this hidden gem a try.

Not many restaurants actually have a tantalizing aroma (unless you validate that which is naturally being produced as a result of chemistry occurring in the kitchen). However, a wonderful scent drifts within the confined walls of Blue Corn Café! The pleasant smell isn’t intense; you only get a whiff upon entering. Anyway, the café is well kept, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. For an appetizer, my daughter and I had guacamole and cheese dip with multicolored chips. Appetizing indeed! For our main dishes, she selected a steak quesadilla and I had steak fajitas. I highly recommend both! Very delicious meals (she gave me a bite)! I did notice, unlike other restaurants offering Hispanic foods, the black beans had a distinct, sweet taste. I personally enjoyed them! Our server was a young man, Sebastian. He was raised with great manners. Not only did he served us well, but he even held the door for us when exiting the lobby. We shall return! 😄

Wonderful Latin/Caribbean flavors. The tostones are some of the best we have had anywhere and the mole sauce is incredible. Other dishes are an excellent twist on traditional Latino dishes. The atmosphere is inviting and the service is helpful and friendly. P.S. also a short but outstanding wine list.

My fiancé and I chose Blue Corn Cafe for our wedding dinner on the recommendation of one of my employees. I had eaten there once before and knew the food was good, so I figured it was worth a shot to reach out. The owners, Danielle and Antonio, were so kind and welcoming and accommodated all of our requests (even allowing us to grow the party by 20). I can’t recommend this restaurant enough.

Food and service were great. We went on a slow day, but we got seated quickly and our server came by immediately afterwards. My mother was impressed how our server remembered everyone's drink and food orders without writing it down and everything came out without a mistake!

We had our first date here 19 years ago, and have come back every year on that date. So after a year of self-isolation and pandemic, it was a joy to return. We didn't get there last year, and were a little anxious about eating out now... But we found the staff are all being cautious and caring, and it was wonderful to be there. The food is still great, and the atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming. Thank you, Blue Corn!

Delicious food and some of the nicest service I’ve ever had - even though we couldn’t spend much. They were also approachable and accommodating about vegan choices. Would 100% come here again!

Socially distanced seating and masks required. Felt safe! Also the best margarita and plantains I've had in Durham! I'm also a salsa addict and everyone of their salsas were delicious!

First time eating at this restaurant and I must say, I’m impressed. The food was fresh and the service from Troy (our waiter) was outstanding! I’d definitely go back.

Delicious food, reasonable prices. I have no idea if the ropa vieja is authentic or not, but I can tell you it tastes awesome. The tostones and guac were also top-notch. Definitely will be back!

Plantain-gasm!!! I got the plantain sampler and the black bean torta- my mouth was in heaven. The flavors were delicious and fresh!

Such a good restaurant with a relaxed vibe! And one of the best and easiest event spaces to work with in town. This is a Latin American Grill but they are accommodating for special request menus for events. They are also extremely vegetarian and vegan friendly :)

Danielle and her team expertly handed a party of 30 for my organization. Very efficient and patient when we arrived later than the anticipated time. Multiple members commented that the food and service were lovely - last-minute requests were accommodated with a smile. We appreciate them and look forward to visiting again in the future!

I've worked next door for two years and finally decided to stop in for dinner, I was so pleasantly surprised when I walked in and was greeted so well! The atmosphere is so cozy and I adored their decorations. They already had my table prepared and my waitress was absolutely wonderful! I loved everything she recommended I try, the food was very fresh and delicious. Oh, and the coffee was GOOD!! Its so hard to find a restaurant with all of the boxes checked off, but they did it! 10/10 recommend! This place is a gem.
