So this is the parking lot for the main trail (head). It will take you about 6-7miles to get to the waterfall. If that is your destination, there is also another parking closer to it. Just a tip.

This is one of the three parking lots for the Waterfall Glen forest preserve trail. From start to finish on the main trail it's just under 10 miles and the highest elevation is just over 700 feet. A beautiful trail that is most active during marathon season.

I love the place. The gravel trails are great to walk, run or bike on. You can also ride horses. Plenty of parking, even for horse trailers. Most people that walk the trail are very focused and you can get a measured workout. Clearly marked with mile markers, the trail is almost 10 miles long so you can get a good workout. The only thing is it is a long walk to the waterfalls but they are definitely worth seeing. There used to be another parking lot but they closed it so now you have a trek to the falls. There is a firepit and outhouses at the entrance as well.

Pure nature. Beautiful greenery, deers all over the place. If you love a good nature workout this is the place. Take bug spray, or you'll come out with many bits.

I love this trail—there is a beautiful 10-mile loop through well-paved forest paths and historic sites. The area is dotted with various plaques with information about the area. Tear-Thumb trail, off the main loop, passes right next to Argonne National Laboratory, and you can see the giant cooling towers for their supercomputers right next to the trail. The waterfall is small compared to what I’m used to on the west coast, but it is still pretty. I come here regularly.

This might just be the prettiest nature spot in Chicago. There are lakes, streams, waterfalls, swamps, rolling hills, forests of old growth oaks... You get the picture. It is a great place to recharge and connect with nature without driving to northern Wisconsin or Michigan.

Great day to spend with my sons on #optoutside Friday [black Friday]. Make sure you are up for the 10 mile loop. Otherwise, hike to the falls or overlook and turn around.

We got there late so parking was no problem at all. The trail is amazing and stroller friendly. Lots of friendly people passing by, everyone says hi and it feels very safe, even at dusk. Great quick nature getaway from the city.

welp, this is the trailhead parking lot. nice place, BUT IF YOU WANT A SHORT WALK TO THE WATERFALL DONT PARK HERE. it's a 4 mile hike from this parking lot to the waterfall. I really didn't mind, just didn't realize it.

there is another lot MUCH closer to the waterfall.

This place is amazing. Even after it rained, the trail was still perfect. Nice 10 mile loop on my gravel bike

Overwhelmed by the beautiful calm. I had to sit for time that seemed unmeasured.

Nearly ten mile loop of 8 foot wide gravel trail. A few hills, varied terrain and different sections of hardwoods and prairie. Trail crosses river several times.

Nice walking trails. Easy parking. Crushed gravel paths are well laid out. Nice inexpensive fun. A deer crossed our walking path!

A lot of space is available for parking. Still it gets busy sometimes during public holidays.
