Kuro Bistro

This was the most wonderful and the best sushi restaurant that we've ever went to! The people who worked there were so kind and our family had a great time. The food was amazing and it looked like other customers were having a great time and enjoying themselves in the restaurant.

Loved it! I was in the area for a show at the Genessee theater and went here for dinner. Everything I had was really great and they have plenty of veg options that are worth it.

Would highly recommend Kuro bistro for the playful menu, house-made sauces, fresh ingredients, great service, and relaxed ambience. We had hibachi scallops, sushi pizza on crispy rice, several rolls, and hibachi shrimp. We also ordered a side of the amazing spicy fermented daikon pickes and gomae. The kyuuri roll would be a perfect lunch choice too. Everything was very good and service was excellent. Lots more to explore on the menu, will be returning many times.

I started eating at Kuro Bistro last year and it has since become one of my favorite restaurants which I frequent about once a month.

First, the food is outstanding! I've been here nearly 10 times and have had various appetizers (gyoza, Calamari, Hawaiian taco etc.) 4 or 5 sushi rolls, the pecking duck and the chicken teriyaki.

My girlfriend and I find the food far fresher tasting then other local restaurants and my family, some of which don't typically like the oriental flavors, always rave about the quality and portion size.

second reason to come here, the staff. While they are all awesome, whenever I come here, I ask if Lexi is available, she is THE best. Not only did she remember us, she's really knowledgeable about the food, provides great service, and is genuinely nice conversation. My dad asks a lot of questions, and she's very patient.

Lastly, this restaurant does something I call floating service. While you do have a waiter/waitress, anyone working will ask if you need anything, refill drinks etc. We rarely if ever wait for a refill on water, desert menu, recommendations etc.

If you come prior to peak dinner (5-6:15 on weekdays) , you can be in and out in 45 minutes. The place is nicely decorated, the music is there but not to loud, and its trendy, a good spot for a date or meeting up after work.

If you like what you see on the Menu, come here. Seriously, If you like sushi, even their burgers, its worth a try!

Absolutely astounding dinner on a snow squall spring night!!! Everything from perfect drinks, to delicious apps, to fabulous main, to wonderful sides, to delectably decadent desserts; was phenomenal!

Everything was beyond fresh, seasoned to perfection, flavors out of this world, and tasted like they were homemade with love and perfection. Like you were trying to impress grandma for sharing her famous recipe! Our server was impressed with what we ordered and asked if we had been to Japan; she said we ordered the best of the best on their menu.

If I’m being 1000% honest; it was one of the best meals we have had out in years from start to finish flavor and service wise.

Anyone who knows me knows how many astounding chefs are in our family, besides the fact I’d personally prefer to cook at home almost any day rather than going out.. growing up surrounded by professional chefs and bakers, besides working in the high end aspect of the industry managing gold coast restaurants and teaching etiquette classes; how picky I am when we go out… my ocd focused on everything down to the fine details; Kuro is a 13 out of 10!

Great atmosphere, amazing wait staff, and delicious food.
I ordered the crazy salmon sushi and it's one of the best sushi I've ever tasted.

Edit: I went again with my boyfriend and his family, and again, it was a great experience. Lexi was our waiter, and she was so friendly and nice! Not only was the food good, but the atmosphere in general was amazing. 10/10!

Definitely one of our Lake Forest favorites. Friendly staff. We love sitting at the bar. Great service. Kudos to Alvero for mixing great drinks, and to PV with his welcoming smile.

I absolutely loved Kuro Bistro! Our family was there celebrating my niece 16th birthday. The servers were excellent. Very attentive and personable. The food was very delicious. I can't wait to go back.

The waiter lady is the best makes me feel real welcomed everytime n always remembers my order from last time I got here. Would recommend all my ship mates in the navy to come here the customer service is excellent. Would give this place 10 stars if I could

Easily the go-to place in the north shore for Japanese. Hands-down.
Beautiful atmosphere, friendly service, and great food... whether its ridiculously fresh fish or tasty entreé's prepared in the kitchen... just too yummy! I will be a regular!

The best sushi I’ve had! I leave Friday and I’m sad I didn’t find it sooner. Great service and fantastic food. If I ever find myself in Chicago again I’m definitely making a stop here

Kuro just opened a few days ago and it was fantastic I must say. We went after Church (around 6 PM) and were seated right away. I think it will take a few weeks to iron out any kinks but all in all it was a great experience. All the food we had was excellent. We had some Shrimp shumi, Miso soup, Woodland Maki Roll, French Kiss Maki Roll, Premium tuna nigiri flight and a Shrimp Tempura roll. All were really good. Also had some Sake! Do not know much about it yet but enjoyed that too!

I dined with a strange couple my wife introduced me to. He passed out what he said were brownies for dessert. I haven't felt right since.

All the food here is the best!

This was the second Sushi restaurant i visited while in town on business. The first unnamed restaurant had hundreds of well deserved reviews, but this place was far superior. I had the Fire Tuna roll and the Sashimi sampler and they were AMAZING!! The young man at the Sushi bar (owners son) was very talented and had an obvious passion for what he was doing. This will be a regular stop whenever i am back in town. Thank You for a great experience.
