Been trying for 8 months to qualify for Dupage Community Services Homelessness Prevention Program... the criteria is utterly ridiculous and tailored to a super specific life circumstance. If you lost your job and were denied unemployment, you DON'T qualify for their government grant to prevent homelessness. Read that again. Their requirements state to qualify for aid you need a full-time job with a specific level of income, or need to be receiving unemployment from the state. You know, because it's the employed and those with strong income that are at risk of homelessness!! I rent, I don't own anything, and I barely got solid employment after a year and a half. I'm 2.5 months behind on rent and receiving training pay for the next month, and yet I'm told to wait still 4 more weeks before I can qualify to APPLY for help. Yet, last year they ran out of funds by September. 🤔🤔🤔 This tells me some group out there's knows exactly how to tap into these funds to supplement their already healthy bank accounts. I agree with one of the low reviews on the Dupage Homeless Shelter page that says there is doubtless misappropriation of funds and it's a sham. They'll waste your time until you're evicted from your residence so you're forced to go to that shelter or get out of town. "Call back" for help they say once you are actually earning money to afford your own rent. Meanwhile their buddies are tapping into this grant money left and right.
