The room was fine for us and quite spacious. The adventure to the pool and only having one person at the desk pulls down the score for average service.

Friendly staff check in no problems. Our first room had issues so we went to the desk and the happily gave us another room. We usually stay there because of the ability to walk across the street to Mayo Clinic.

Interested how the reviews on this hotel go from quite good to very bad—my experience is that the young man at the front desk was very accommodating—the hotel and the room were both very clean—room was very nicely decorated and had a king bed, couple of chairs, small desk and very nice sized bathroom. The shower was clean with plenty of pressure and hot water—proximity to Mayo is awesome! Definitely will stay here again!

Front desk and other staff were amazing! I am a brain injury patient of The May Clinic and the staff at The Kahler Grand treated me with care and kindness as if they were a part of my care team! For example, I am an hemiplegic, left side paralysis, and was traveling solo due to my care taker that was supposed to accompany me, having had a last minute family emergency but because my appointment was booked 3 months prior, I was determined to make it to my appointment with the Mayo Clinic on my own. I really couldn't leave my room because I needed wheelchair assistance; so I thought, until I shared my frustration and disappointment with my Bellman who talked to his manager and they made arrangements for me to get wheeled down to the courtyard to get out of my room and enjoy the sun and I was told to call down any time, any day that I wanted to get out of my room(I had a week stay). I really felt so lost and alone on my journey to wellness but the amazing, kind hearted humans at this hotel went above and beyond and restored my hope in humanity. This experience will live in my memories and remain in a special place in my heart forever. Also, the location is so convenient to The Mayo Clinic, they could wheel me across the courtyard or use the underground tunnel system. My bellman, helper would always ask me my preferred route and would stay with me until staff from The Mayo arrived to take over. I can't say enough about this hotel and the staff!

We hd a great stay... not sure about some of these bad reviews! 🤷‍♀ Clean and updated room - the AC/heat unit was new and so much better than others I have seen. The blackout shades were great and left no gaps for sunlight (important when traveling with kids!). Comfortable beds, nice pool area, friendly staff, affordable and convenient location. No issues here!

I'm in Rochester for a visit at Mayo Clinic and the Kahler Grand Hotel is right across the street - perfect location! The room is on the small size, but is nicely updated, has a comfortable bed and is quiet. There is a discount for Mayo patients which is greatly appreciated.

We just spent a week here while a pt at Mayo. Amazing experience!! Front staff was efficient & friendly. Our room was PERFECT. It was clean & “user friendly”.
They do not have housekeeping every day, which suited us fine. They were always availablewith extra towels, tissue…anything we needed. We were convenient to everything!

The room we stayed in has been updated. The air conditioning works very well. This had been a problem in previous visits and we started booking elsewhere. The staff has been very nice, I have asked for extra towels and soap they where delivered to our room promptly. Our king size bed was very comfortable. We will definitely start staying here again

We had our company Christmas party here and it was very enjoyable. The food arrived quickly and very hot. I never had a chance to ask for anything that I could have needed. Never eaten here before, but now it's in my top choices above olive garden and red lobster.

Great place to stay. If you are going to Mayo Clinic, it is so convenient. Has subway tunnels so you do not have to get out in the cold. Also great restaurants near by. We ate at Victoria's Italian and Old Brick Pub Irish food. Both good!! Kahler is older but nicely done and staff is very helpful. Will be back.

Love staying at Kahler Grand when visiting Mayo Clinic. It’s just a hop skip an a jump across the street to the clinic.
The rooms are updated since my last visit. They are furnished with updated decor.

Before the upgrades I personally enjoyed having a single room and it was a true single room...previously the rooms had mahogany walls and a double bed that I’m sure was difficult to make, a tiny bathroom and tub and a writing desk. I even asked if there were any of the older rooms left, sadly there are not.

The renovation turned out well. The room feels calming and is very restful. Everyone in the hotel practices the CDC guidelines for Covid. House keeping is provided on a an as needed basis; they will bring new linens and whatever you need, but just won’t come in and touch stuff.

The staff members are very friendly and accommodating.

The lobby is also very nice.

The dining room and food are great. It still has the feeling of a grand hotel dining room. Everyone that I met in the dining room, no matter the shift, was very personable.

My only disappointment is that it doesn’t feel like the “grand” hotel of yesteryear.

Definitely worth a stay since you can park your car and walk to the clinic or other downtown destinations during your stay.

I've stayed at this hotel over a dozen times in the past couple years. Although it is currently under major renovation I felt it retains their high quality of standards for service and certainly made all attempts necessary to work around the construction. Check in was prompt, all staff was courteous and any issues brought to their attention were resolved promptly. The pool is awesome and hopefully that area will get a bit of attention during the reno. The roof top pool room views are spectacular, the size of the pool great and the hot tub the only way to finish off a day. The hotel has a unique character which I love and the location couldn't be better. I will admit not all my room service meals have been stellar but overall I will always choose this facility when going to Rochester. It has made my travel to Mayo Clinic much more enjoyable and gave me something to look forward too. Overlooking the current construction I feel like I've come home when I stay there.

The restaurants are great. I love that the rooms are well kept but older style! They cleaned the tub drain after I told them it seemed to be clogged which is wonderful. Also the fact that it's connected to Mayo which means I can get to the clinics fast is really amazing. I also feel I can come back and relax when I need to.

Very nice hotel. You can walk to your appointment at Mayo clinic which is right across the street. Clean rooms and very nice bathrooms. Walking distance to some of the best restaurants and entertainment. Very friendly and courteous employees.

The Kahler Grand Hotel is offering room service to the hotel I am staying at because the kitchen is closed. The staff member delivered the order right to our door, nicely placed on a room service table without a single detail missing. We were impressed! The food was delicious!! I had the black bean burger and it was hands down the best one EVER! My daughter had the classic club and loved every bite! Thank you to the wonderful staff of this hotel!

It was comfortable. Great bed and pillows. I needed to stay downtown and didn't want to spend over $100. After all the fees and taxes, my economy double room came to about $98. The room was furnished with updated amenities but the sink, lighting and bathroom fixtures were reminiscent of the early 90s. Not a big deal as long as you're not spending a lot of time in there. The building is a bit of a maze but happens to be directly connected to the parking ramp. I didn't need a taxi because of the location and I was able to leave my car there way past check-out time. The shops were fun and the nearby dining was awesome. The old marble walls of the early 1900s were still in the tiny bathroom and that was cool. I would've rather stayed at the DoubleTree, but not for an extra $75 per night. There's much nicer rooms at the Kahler Grand for more money but if you just need a bed and running water, this is more than sufficient. I'd stay again.

Walking subway connects to Mayo clinic and downtown shops, and mayo parking garage.most convenient location. Staff was great . Room was dated and shabby but clean. Bathroom was BAD , was very very small, so small that closing the door is challenging ,metal prison toilet mounted to wall , and water in shower fluctuates form ice cold to scalding hot multiple times during use.

Follow up-Stayed here again and stayed in one of the remodeled rooms! Night and Day! The new rooms are amazing. 5 stars for the remodel.
