I was here last Saturday with 2 other people to try their Spring Menu. It was absolutely amazing. We each ordered one item from the menu and shared so we were able to try the entire menu. Have to give lots of credit to the service and ambiance to the restaurant. Very intimate and artistic. Just a beautiful place. You feel like being transported to another place instead of being in Rutherford, NJ. The presentation of each dish was art and the taste was pure satisfaction. I prefer the seafood course because the flavors were just captured so well. The crab cakes the Chillean Sea Bass and the tuna appetizer were my favorites and stood out to me. I was just in the mood for a lighter fare. Their duck was very lean and not fatty. I can't wait to go back when their garden is ready. They have a really cozy back patio that will be filled with various plants in the summer. By then they will have a summer menu and I will back to try. Great date night spot or just treating yourself and catching up with friends. BYOB

Visited for our anniversary and had a wonderful time. Just an amazing experience every time we come. Food is delicious, service is impeccable, the garden is beautiful.

We particularly enjoyed the meatball and tuna and crab cake, but everything was good. Oh and the key lime dessert was incredible.

Upon entering we were so nicely greeted by the waiter, who we learned later by name of Adrian. He was so informative and knew everything he was talking about. The menu is seasonal and it is just beyond amazing! Great, great, great food. The pairings are just exceptional. I was so sad when it was over! We also got to meet the chef. I’m unable to state my favorite as everything I ate was just unbelievably made to perfection.

Wonderful experience! Beautifully prepared dishes that were as delicious for the eyes as they were for the tastebuds. This BYOB with a seasonally inspired menu has everything you want for a special occasion.

Everything was simply delicious! Adrian was a blast and made sure we were well-taken care of. The hazelnut coffee was an exquisite end to our delicious 4-course meal. Great food, great company. Will definitely come back again!

Our waiter, Adrian, provided us with a five star service tonight. He greeted us and made everything comfortably, explaining every item on the menu in full detail. It was a great experience and fun night full of laughs. Cannot wait to come back and mix up our options! <3

9.5 out of 10 points. Everything was perfect; food, staff, and atmosphere were great except for the ventilation. The grilling smell came right to my noses, most of my staying even outside, and it reduced my appetite.

It’s been a while since we visited this restaurant. It has returned to the excellence that attracted us here in the first place. The menu changed and there are fewer options. No matter, everything we had was superb. Some of the best dishes were the white sesame cubed sushi tuna, smoked duck breast carpaccio, short ribs & burrata cheese, and the fresh strawberries with caramelized banana. But in reality, everything we ordered was terrific. Not inexpensive but a romantic restaurant to celebrate a special occasion.

Decided to take my mom to dinner and chose this place randomly. I knew she would enjoy this style menu as we are NYers and have had opportunity to attend multi course chef tastings. Cafe M did not dissapoint. The waitstaff is beyond knowledgeable. Ready with an abundance of food knowledge as well as wonderful anecdotal information about the chef and what lead him to a life involving food.
Deawback’s if there are any - its BYOB. Not a big deal just don’t forget or you’ll be annoyed.

Special mention / kudos to the support servers. They work around each other to clear the table/ plates & bring out next course like a well oiled machine. Seamless. With the BEST attitude!! Accomodating every ask swiftly. I was beyond impressed.

Lastly the MVP of the night was Adrian who took a moment to make my moms night by introducing her to the chef! She turned 75. Well done - Cafe Matisse.

A friend of mine and I went for the experience and we were very very pleased. I thoroughly enjoyed it all. All compliments to the chef and his sister for the delicious food and dessert. I really appreciated the staff. They were so attentive and it seemed as though they were truly invested in ensuring that we got the most out of the experience. I've never eaten at a place like this. This is fine dining at its best! I will return.

It was my first time here with my husband, I highly recommend going there.The foot was great but duck was little bit over cook but everything was amazing!Also people were super kind!
Especially, Adran was super friendly and nice!

Excellent food, atmosphere, staff; absolutely nothing about the place was bad, I will go back again, and you should go. The food was out of this world. OMG what a gem, hidden away in my back yard. Thank you for helping the wife and I celebrate our 16th anniversary.

New name but same excellent food and service. Chef Loria's imagination has only gotten better. Another night of fabulous and unique courses. Looking forward to our next visit. Nothing better in Jersey.

My wife made reservations for my birthday, it was absolutely amazing. The food, service and atmosphere all combined for a truly wonderful evening. Our waiter Adrian was outstanding, very passionate but down to earth. The smoked swordfish special was so delicate but flavorful. Highly recommended!

Wooow the place is incredible, the food is delicious and the service is top notch by Mr. Adrián, his attention is very good and real. Without hesitation, I will return to this CAFE MATISSE restaurant many times 100% recommended👌🏾

I honestly do not understand why this place has negative reviews. From the moment we walked in for our anniversary dinner till the end we had nothing to complain. Great service, amazing food which is good portion size and good people around . Everyone were extremely friendly and polite. Will definitely come back

What a great meal and wonderful service. Every piece of food was great. Definitely recommend the burger / short rib and the steak. Had the banana cake for dessert, amazing! BYOB so make sure to take along a couple bottles of great wine to accompany the great meal! Keep in mind it's a tasting meal, so you choose a few small entrees (but it's a very filling dinner!)

My fave place for a celebratory meal. Love the garden but not the mosquitoes so we moved inside for our meal. Food is divine, service is really good and my fave thing on this occasion was the scallops
