Newt's South

I'm going to give Newt's South in Rochester a 5 star rating. Newt's is your typical burger / sandwich / fries or onion rings / and sports bar. One thing I will give them an excellent writing on is there a variety of burgers and sandwiches. Aside from that nothing was spectacular about the restaurant or the food. To be quite frank with you, my wife and I both thought that their french fries were rather limp and soggy.

Will we be back? Definitely yes. The restrooms were clean and tidy on the late afternoon of our 1st visit last week. That's saying a lot considering how many customers they probably had already served that day. And like I've said in many many of my reviews, clean and tidy restrooms are very important to Travelers.

Server/waiter was on top of everything. Never had an empty drink and checked on us often. Food was great and didn’t have a long wait. It was very clean and well laid out. The only change I would like to see is a separated exit door. I recommend this place.

The food tonight was amazing! I ordered the Marvin burger with a salad, and the burger to sauce ratio was perfect. My husband got onion rings with his burger, and they were the best onion rings we've had. Perfect light and crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with a nice crunch. Our waitress was also amazing as well and did a great job.

Wonderful food and service. The cheese curd appetizer was wonderful, lightly breaded, and fried to perfection. The Todd's burger with onion rings was great and cooked to order. The three little pigs sandwich with fries was also great.

We had a great time at Newts!! First, the popcorn and half priced pitchers set the mood for some great onion ring appetizers. Had some onion rings left over that we used for topping our Thanksgiving day green bean casserole. My Newt burger was really good. Their coleslaw was creamy and tasty as well. Service was excellent!! Three of us ate for around $50.

New to area and decided to give this place a try. The cheese curds were The Best we’ve ever had, no joke, I can’t even describe them! I’ve always dipped them in ranch but with these ones it made it way too salty for me but dipping in ketchup was great. We had a burger. The Marvin and that was epic. Kids had grilled cheese and chicken fingers. They liked them and they serve Pepsi products added bonus! Place was clean and service was good and fast. We will be back I have no doubt

The atmosphere was nice .. there were families and singles on the bar ..
We took Marvin's burger and peanut burger with upgraded onions rings and two draf IPAs
The bartender was nice enough to give us some samples and help us choose what we wanted to drink..

Burgers were 10\10

Onion rings 8\10 too oily
IPAs 10\10

The only downfall was that you go home and your clothes and hair smelling frying oil .. I think they should fix their air system or fan to get rid of the frying smell ..

Was in town for a buying show. Came here to have dinner but ended up only eating appetizers. The nachos were huge, enough for 3 to 4 people, wings were really good. Service was great. Would definitely come back, but no appetizers next time and eat a meal.

A mainstay of Rochester since 1980 with 3 locations and over a dozen burgers to choose from. Center bar with padded stools dominate the room with booths lining the walls and tables filling in the middle. Framed pictures of the past, mounted trophy heads and other bar memorabilia give it that pub like feel. The special Mac Daddy was a fresh, juicy, hand patted 1/2 pound nicely grilled burger with shredded lettuce, tomato, American cheese and hardwood smoked hickory bacon. A pickle spear and a mound of hand cut fries on the side. A plus was the pre-meal bowl of popcorn. Stacia was our friendly server and she made it a habit of swinging by the table frequently.

I will be back for the cheese curds! It was like biting into a crispy cloud if you can imagine that. King burger was ok, fish n chips were great.

Cheese curds were seriously the best I have ever had. They actually melted in my mouth. Great food, great server. It was pretty busy for a Monday night which is a good sign that they have good food. We ordered a Margarita which tasted a little off but everything else was so good i had to give them 5 stars.

I had the Gustavo burger. Medium rare, delicious. Best time to go is around 3:30 in the afternoon if you're in a hurry. Virtually no guests. I waited about 8 min for my food. In and out in less than 30 min. Great staff, friendly service.

There was one other couple in the restaurant when we went in. They made a burger that wasn't on the menu for my date and we had a great time sitting talking and eating some amazing burgers!

Newt's has the best burgers from any restaurant I've ever visited hands down! I'm a burger guy and almost always order a burger wherever I go for food. I tell anyone I hear talking about visiting Rochester to go to Newt's and order a burger cuz they are life-changing! Now let's talk about the cheese curds those little pieces of heaven are fantabulous. Cheese curds are one of those things that they have to be just perfect, not too crunchy not too soft I'm cheese connoisseur as well. The cheese curds hit the mark every time!

Food and Service here is top notch!

As soon as you walk in the door, you are offered a HUGE bowl of Popcorn! I didn't have much time at all before my food came out.

I got the Marvin Burger! It's a Bacon Cheeseburger with some Chipotle Mayo, so simple but yet so good! And it's more tangy than Spicy!

If you are in the area you won't be disappointed by stopping by Newts, it's a must!

I drove over an hour for work and wanted to try something new. Glad I did, the food was great and even though they were really busy the food still came out fast!

The new manager Taylor was amazing! Stopped in after a softball tournament to try a new place for dinner and couldn't be more happy about the service and food!! Busy place, prompt service, hot fresh food, left full and happy! Keep up the great work!

An outstanding place for good food with great staff. Even though a major winter storm was forecast, a lot of customers came in for the food, drinks and humanity. More than ample portions served. Very nice environment for a bar and grill, great place to hangout with friends.

The place was awesome. the server was beyond busy with the 2 big parties that came in. Great job moving and getting the food out fast.

Super fun, it was crazy busy but we got a spot in less than 10 minutes and our food was done super quickly as well
