One of if not the best asian spots to eat in the ironbound maybe all of Newark. Eat from constantly not just for sushi but their semi expensive plates are well worth the price

The lunch special is always a crowd pleasure.... 5 sushi rolls for $22 if you pay cash. The owner is not very friendly, but her server was very good, sweet kid!!!

I only have ordered to Takeout and delivery. I love this family owned and operated Sushi 🍣 restaurant. Manny Sushi places are opening and closing in the neighborhood before I even get to try them and the ones I have given a chance they don't surprise me for the positive. I was a Banzai customer before Sushi House 21. I like both but Sushi House 21 is the most consistent and reliable!

Stayed in Newark for a few days to visit NYC and this place was right around the corner. The kid is nice and the sushi was so good so we went two nights in a row. I 100% recommend the Philadelphia roll (my fav). We also got the fried pork dumplings, shrimp tempura roll, spicy tuna roll, & miso soup. Everything tasted very good and the people were nice!

This place is tiny but mighty😃 believe me when I tell you that their menu is fantastic and delicious. They have some incentives when you pay cash they would give you a discount and things like that, they are not permanent based on my experience but they still have great prices for the quality and quantity of food you get. The people at this place are very nice and kind. The other day I ordered 2 miso soups with my food and didn't realize 1 of them was part of a special they had, but when I picked up my food the lady told me they would only charge 1 of the soups and explain there was a special. This speaks volumes as to their honesty and the customer service they provide. I recommend anytime.

Sushi House 21 is one of the best sushi restaurants in the Ironbound section of Newark. The owners are pleasant and the food, including the sushi, is always fresh… I have been ordering sushi from this particular restaurant, for a long time now, and have never had a complaint in regards to the service or the food quality. I highly recommend Sushi House 21 to anyone that is in the Newark area and enjoys eating delicious sushi, at an affordable price.

I haven't been here since the pandemic started and it still fails to disappoint.
The fish is fresh, full of flavor and well assembled.

They are only doing carryout at the moment, but our food was ready within 15 minutes! I'm very happy it's still open then we'll need to stop by more often.

Place was super clean and fresh. No seafood smell which is very important in a sushi restaurant. Had the Alaska, Cali & Jazz sushi roll, all were great. The shrimp shumai was fantastic.

I ordered online and was good to go in minutes.

Sushi House 21 is a great down-to-earth sushi restaurant. Not a fancy place but a great sushi offering with all the traditional offerings and then some. Food was delicious and well-presented. Generous portions and very reasonable price. This is a place where you can feel the love and pride that goes into making great food. Neighborhood feel with space for about 20. No liquor license but the food more than makes up for that. Plus they have a take-out menu. I definitely will be back.

I've been coming here for years - ever since back when this was the ONLY sushi house in Newark. I have walked away happy and satisfied every time. The owners are incredibly kind and careful. The quality has never wavered for all these years. I come here whenever I can. Thank you, Sushi House 21 🍣

very fresh, very hospitable. Prices are perfectly accurate and the chef is highly skilled. Ordered a simple tuna roll with 2 sashimi pieces and the chef made it into a Rose.

If you understand what fresh top quality fish is supposed to taste like, then you will love Sushi House 21! Nelson Yip is an amazing chef who cares about quality over profits. Nelsons sashimi is the best you can find anywhere. I have been to the most expensive sushi restaurants in NYC/Dubai/Moscow where the bill ends up being over US $500 per person and I still prefer Nelsons fish and presentation to anywhere i have ever been. And price wise i don't think you will ever find the quality for such a low price. If you like steak try the steak that comes on a stone for you to cook yourself. It is AMAZING. If you like rolls you wont be disappointed. Nelson can make any roll you can think of and it will melt in your mouth. He makes his own ginger from ginger root and not that imitation pink ginger that other restaurants use because they only care about profits. If you not only enjoy sushi but know what good fish is supposed to taste like.. you will not be able to eat sushi anywhere else. I have converted over 20 people, who swore their favorite sushi place couldn't be beat, by having them try Nelsons seared yellowtail sushi. My mouth is watering as i am writing this and i just ate there last night!

If the sushi was a lil more flavorful I would say it was perfect but very clean very fresh very friendly every precaution taken to ensure everyone's saftey I love my sushi and this place actually is close to home see you soon

Sushi House 21 is fabulous!! The new owner who previously owned Aozora in Montclair has really turned this place around. The fish is unbelievably fresh, the sushi rolls are creative and delicious, as is the cooked food. I had lunch there today with my daughter and parents. My mother had chilean sea bass which was out of this world, my daughter had the salmon which was also delicious, and my dad and I had sushi and sashimi. This is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever eaten at.

Owner Nelson and his staff are the best. I know many Japanese restaurants in the tri state area but I always find Nelson's Sushi and Sashimi with the greatest quality. You should also try his Angus beef steak. The owner has extensive experience not for Japanese food but also for Western dishes at prestigious restaurants. His artistic dishes are pleasing to your eyes too. You definitely should try this place!!

I used to come here every time from my lunch break at work. I quit my job and im still going here all the way from linden just to get there fresh and delicious sushi. They gave me a nice gesture gift and i just had to write a review of them thanks again! -P.s you have to try there cheesecake
