High Acres Nature Area

Second time been there. This time (May 10) less muddy. The few spots down by the pond was very muddy the first time I was here (March) and again today. So, the trails along the ponds could use some boardwalks to help with this problem.

This was first time I walked the yellow trail along the northern section of the park. This short trail gives you breathtaking views of the ponds while walking along the massive berm. Access this trail from the northern parking lot and take the trail on the left side of the trail entrance sign.

While on the trail, I suggest the free Merlin Bird app to help identify birds in the area. Wonderful and very helpful app.

For those of you who are looking for the Wegman’s Hit the Trail passport marker. It’s on the covered bench on the yellow trail mentioned above.

Very great area to hike through and I see many fishers there so I would recommend going through!

Nice place for some short trail hiking just be wary of the bugs in the summer time. Right across from the High Acres Landfill.

Great nature trail. Just don't go at night when they let the methane out. Smelly.

Good place for birdwatching but it *is* a landfill so there is an odor....

Nice views, well maintained flat for the most part.
