Namaste Indian Restaurant Reviews

During the Plague of 2020, hungry for take-out Indian food, my partner and I walked in and out of Namaste. Big mistake. Sitting down at this same restaurant off a nondescript stretch of 9W a week ago, I knew—with its no-nonsense server, and its walls painted deep papaya orange, that the meal was going to be great. Even now my mouth waters in memory of this taste experience.
Within minutes of placing our order, the dining area’s air was filled with smells from the kitchen. Something real was happening. The sensual complexity of Indian food, whose multitudinous scents I’ll awkwardly describe as bristling, sweet, unguenty, thorny, puckery, and the like, were upon us. And once the dishes came, unlike the smell, say of peanut butter being superior to its actual taste, the flavors of our dishes were dazzling. Rich and creamy, the Shahi Lamb Korma was tender and plentiful. The Aloo Gobhi Mas, a gustatory complement. I more than once asked my partner not to talk and closed my eyes while feeling the food. The Palak Paneer, decent. The Garlic naan, perfectly chewy and sprinkled with coriander, the latter being a real sign of a caring chef. It's also worth mentioning that the server gave us options over how spicy we wanted our food prepared. We were so happy with our meal that we overate, the way sometimes at an amusement park I have—out of delight—ridden one topsy-turvy ride too many, and made myself, as a consequence, a bit sick.
Mind you, there is little that is showy about this joint. It’s not for the bougie folk who fancy themselves upper class but derive their sense of this from their phones. The bathroom could use refreshing and a carpenter’s touch. The large flat screen, which I requested be turned off, is a nuisance. But the overall experience of this establishment is non pareil. When I attempted to express my dining pleasure to a man who had emerged from the kitchen, my English was not understood. But I persisted and after passing my wish to another quite affable server to extend my compliments to the unseen chef, she was thanked with an on the house mango lassie. A bustling take-out business seems to be central to the restaurant’s success. Should we beset by another plague, I know exactly where to go.
Total outlay: 60 dollars

We ordered Chicken Tika, Chana spaghetti, vegetable samosas, samosa cheat and garlic naan. Everything was DELICIOUS!

Finding a restaurant that will be able to serve a gluten free vegan meal is not an easy find but Namaste did an amazing job of serving up a delicious meal that checked all the boxes. They even made up a fresh batch of basmati rice without dairy just for us.

I love Namaste!! The food and service are amazing. We ordered Garlic naan, tandoori chicken,
Baingan bharta, and we had the tea. All of it was absolutely incredible. My friend pointed out how fresh it was too! Definitely will be coming back! Highly recommend if you haven’t tried it yet!

The best Indian food I've ever had. Was at a work event in Saugerties and ordered this restaurant three straight nights. Had Lamb Vindaloo (good), Lamb Rogan Josh (Phenomenal), and Sarson Ka Saag (Phenomenal). Plus the Onion Kulcha was Phenomenal.

I love this place! They are currently open for takeout and we are so lucky to have such a gem in the area. The food is flavorful and fresh. I love that they have so many vegetarian options. I am a big lover of Malai Kofta and this is one of the best I’ve ever had. They never disappoint and I always look forward to ordering from namaste. I was disappointed to see that other customers were being rude to the staff working because they were only offering takeout. I’m sure they have a hard time finding staff to support in house dining but that is not a reason to disrespect the business. Please spread kindness!!

Delicious, tasty food, well prepared, not too greasy, served by helpful, efficient staff.
Everything in this brightly lit restaurant is immaculately clean - not just casually wiped down, it's all totally clean.
There was nice Asian music playing softly (not all cranked up!)
A surprisingly good dining experience. We will be back!

Great food!! Probably meant to be a take-out joint, or delivery- so probably not fair to give an atmosphere rating.
Namaste has excellent portions, and absolutely perfect baingan bharta, malai kofta and mushroom mattar.

I'm English, and I used to live very close to Brick Lane, Bethnal Green, which if you don't know, has a very large number of very good Indian restaurants which have been there many, many years.
The food from Namaste exceeds the quality of many of the meals I had in Brick Lane.
It is simply extraordinarily good. I used to drive a decent hour round trip to pick up our orders, and now finding out they deliver to us is an absolute joy.
It is without a doubt the best Indian food I've ever had in America.

Can't say too.much about the atmosphere --we did take out. But it was by far the freshest tastiest food I have had since leaving Queens!

Amazing place! Worth the money!!! Mango lassi is just 5$ and there is a 9.99$ lunch buffet! Very hard working staff and very friendly!

They have the softest naan I have come across in the east coast. Loved their punjabi beats.
We were just two minutes in before buffet close. They were kind enough to sit us in.

We moved to the area just over a year ago & have been searching for the best Indian food. Not only is this the best Indian food we’ve had around here, it may be the best Indian food I’ve ever had in my LIFE. So incredible! The flavors, everything is cooked to perfection. You can feel the love in the food. Highly recommended 👍🏽
Update: just ordered again and I literally want to give this chef a hug! The live comes through so clearly in the cooking. It’s amazing. Thank you Namaste!

A wonderfully delicious meal. Basmati rice was fluffy and aromatic. Goat was fork tender with just enough heat. The garlic naan and roti were lovely to dip in the sauces… all the sauces A must visit for homestyle traditional Indian fare.

Take out these days with easy parking. Business-like interior with too much lighting and Indian "knick-knacks" (hey, it's take out). We lived in the East Village of NYC for many years; Indian food was all around us. This was some of the best we have ever had. The only "adjustment" for American taste was the spiciness level.
The taste and spicing was Indian and very interesting to the American palate. The tandoori chicken was especially memorable. With this dish, usually the meat is dry, even if the flavor is good. Not here; the flavor was excellent and the meat moist. Portions generous, pricing modest.

Excellent Indian Food in Saugerties, NY. I have tried many Indian restaurants all over the US and especially in New York City and this food was quite good. Had both the Chicken Tika Masala and Lamb Curry and they were both excellent. You can adjust the spicy level in on-line ordering. Medium is regular hot for most Americans I would say. Had the take out and will definitely come back again. Highly recommended.

We ordered a dinner from Namaste, intending to watch a movie while we ate. We skipped the movie- the food was just too good to not give it our full attention. Always delicious! Always friendly! Also, one of the most careful and cautious places during this pandemic.
Our whole family LOVES Namaste! Please eat there!
