I really enjoyed the options. The bowl was a great option for lunch to try a little of everything. The carnitas was good, but I have to bring the man to clarify as carnitas is his favorite food 😏 It’s located downtown and easy for me to walk to from work. Planning on making this the Taco Tuesday 🌮 place to go! Side note: the grapefruit Jarritos tastes like Squirt

Great local burrito restaurant with an exceptional, clean atmosphere. It should go without saying that the food is good, but here we are. Not a huge Trekkie fan, but having the classic 60s' series play on their TV monitors adds a unique flair. I highly recommended this place.

Love it here! The tacos are incredible! Amazing flavors! Relaxed atmosphere, love the free jukebox! The staff is so friendly and helpful, we always feel welcome. It’s still a newer restaurant so it is taking some time to get busier, but that doesn’t bother us.

AMAZING. I order from El Gato often on my lunch break, and I am never displeased. The food is fresh and has a clean refreshing taste. There are so many options too!! If you eat chipotle often, I definitely recommend giving this place a try. It has a new unique taste that I think people who eat Mexican a lot can appreciate. Service is ALWAYS fast and friendly. Today I saw a line going out the door-- truly shows how successful it is.

By far one of my favorite places to eat in Akron. Phenomenal selection of Mexican Street Dishes with many substitutions to pick from to make it your own and an excellent beverage selection. Professional staff that is friendly and helpful if you are unsure of what to eat. Try the Verde sauce, it is delicious.

Great food. Please stop comparing their prices to Chipotles. El Gatos prices are completely reasonable and people forget when you are a smaller restaurant, you can't buy in bulk and get better deals on ingredients. Support local!!!! Cute atmosphere, good selection of beer, and cozy Mexican street cuisine.

The staff is super nice, the food is great. It's fresh and delicious. It's only slightly more expensive than a place like Chipotle but you are getting far higher quality food. As a side plus, they have Mexican bottled Coca-Cola, which in itself iso delicious

Place has good vibe. Serving size is generous for a bowl. A touch of cilantro adds nice flavor. Best part is you don't have to wait in a line (only if you are early).

Great street tacos, the meats are cooked and seasoned perfectly. The disco fries are a wonderful "poutine"... We should have ordered meat with them but they were delicious even without. If I worked in downtow Akron I'd be here weekly.

Trendy Chipotle clone, but with a lot more love. Frankly, the food here is better, you won't hear "guac is extra," the menu is simpler, and there's a great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage choices. I stop by here whenever I'm in the area. I can't find any reason to avoid them.

Friendly service and quick. I ordered the disco fries and they were giant! Loads if fresh fries, guacamole, carnitas, cheese and sour cream. Will definitely go back!

OMG. So I'm a suuuuper Chipotle fan, but after but after trying El Gato...I may visit Chipotle less. I tried the Street Tacos, both a chicken and chorizo one. They were delicious and reasonably priced. The chorizo was spicy but not overwhelmingly so. I've tried the La Lucha Libre Bowl as well and outside of the fact that they won't give you free extras like rice and beans etc. the freshness and the spices all are there. Amazing!

How did I not know this place was here? A nice atmosphere, great vibrant flavors, a simple menu and nice staff. And...I highly recommend the disco fries! Well worth the price, portioned to share.

Being a complete foodie I have searched far and wide in Akron to find some amazing Mexican food since I moved here from Chicago where taquerias are plentiful. There isnt much I love more than good black beand and rice, but as simplistic as they seem they arent easy to make. El Gato hit the nail on the head; amazing tacos, black beans and rice to die for and really fun atmosphere make this the new staple in my life.

Food and atmosphere was much different and better than I was expecting. This is one of my new favorite restaurants! Will be coming back soon.

Great place to stop by for lunch. The burritos are hearty and much better than that one place you might go in Highland Square. Make sure to add the chips with your meal!

Like Chipotle, but 100x better. The chorizo has a slight bite and tastes amazing, the Salsa Verde also beats the hot salsa at Chipotle hands down!

Good for a lunch spot, can't see making the trip for dinner though. If you ask for a tap water they'll fill up a cup for you otherwise all drinks are bottled and in the cooler.

Best lunch place in downtown Akron. Food's good, service is excellent. Can't say enough good things. If you don't eat here you're dumb.

So damn good. Best street tacos you can get in Akron. Rivals LA street tacos and has a cool vibe with old movies playing and surf rock on the radio.
