Rod and Rhonda have a terrific gift shop full of work by genuine Alaskan artists! A great variety ranging from paintings to jewelry, to hand crafted pens and knives by various artists. We found a hand crafted Asian kitchen knife by a Japanese craftsman, made to Rods specifications, with a diamond-wood handle by Rod. A beautiful piece that is sharp as a scalpel. It's my fourth knife from Rod. My first one traveled with me around the world and is my field knife that always attracts the attention of my partners overseas. It always stays sharp and is literally bulletproof, even after getting run over by a truck in a parking lot. First rate quality. Stop in or order via their website. The quality and service after the sale make Rod's merchandise a great deal, in my opinion.

Says it’s closed but it was open after 8:30 for all the cruising people. Lots of local artist works and cute things. Knives for the men.

Where do I even start. Super friendly, high quality knife maker, their shop in Haines has something for everyone. We wanted something unique from our trip to Haines so we bought Rods custom knives! Thank you for the perfect token to help us remember our trip!

Our stop in Haynes was most unexpected. Our cruise ship was supposed to go to Skagway but was detoured. Alaska Rod's was one of the highlights of the visit. They are super friendly and I don't believe you can leave the store without sampling the fudge. We have a cabin an hour away from Mackinac Island, MI which bills itself as having the best fudge. We have been there many times and have consumed pounds of it. Alaska Rod's fudge is better!

Absolute beauty and quality with their knives. Communication and delivery was super fast. I just received my second one today. Thank you so much Rod and Rhonda. I definitely recommend the Yukon, it's been my daily carry for years.

I bought a few items in this store. One of my favorites was the handmade pen which was amazing. The lady, one of the owners, was super nice and willingly answered all my questions. I definitely recommend people go there. I will go back and purchase one of the handmade knives.

We have been to Alaska many times and in gift shops in several different towns. We have done cruises and just traveled around. It is interesting that somebody else said that this is just another tourist gift shop. I completely disagree. They have some of the standard stuff (although not a lot percentage wise). They have a lot more real local things than most places. I met both Rod and his wife. They have been in Haines a long time and have a lot of good history and information about the area. His knives are beautiful and so are some of the pens that he makes. He can tell you the history of the wood that he puts into each one. Very interesting. I bought a pen and a knife and will definitely be back. One last note. They have great fudge. Not as many flavor choices as the touristy chain places in AK but it is very good and it is considerably cheaper per pound. Great Place owned by locals...not the cruise ships!

The fudge is phenomenal. Smooth and rich. We bought a few sets of Rod's knives for cheese plates and turkey carving. Worth a stop even if just look at the unique hand crafted products.

Stopped in during our cruise stop. Owners are incredibly friendly and very pro police and pro military which is awesome. Loved talking to them. Wife bought a nice souvenir Christmas tree ornament for a good price.

They are very helpful and friendly. A couple years ago we were visiting Haines and walked into their store and they helped my granddaughter who had just been bitten by a wasp. She put bears claw on it and in a short time she was fine. I reached out and called to order more and in a short time was sent. They have great products!

Rod Hinson's hand made knifes are great! Bought 10 last year they stayed so sharp and nice bought another 6 recently. Be ware they are $60/each....but never had such good quality. They have lots other good stuff, very interesting store‼ plus their homemade fudge is really good with red wine or whisky. Check this place out‼

I’ve bought multiple knives from here and they are great. I’ve been using them for a few years now and I’ll be back for more when I need some. Just ordered a knife from AL and the customer service was great. Fast communication, and great conflict resolution. I highly suggest checking out their shop if you’re in town or ordering online from them if you’re out of town. Thank you Rhonda and Rod!

Friendliest people you will ever meet. Rod and Rhonda Hinson are the owners of Alaska Rods and it great to support local businesses. Best fudge ever and they ship to the lower 48! Wonderful selection of handmade and local made gifts. Rod makes all the knives, turns the pens, and of course makes the fudge. I love Haines and one of the reasons is the owners of Alaska Rods.

Local family run shop in Beautiful Haines. Handmade knives, Alaskan made crafts, and The freshest best fudge ever. Great small gifts cards and postcards. A must stop for a little break in Haines.

We stumbles across Alaska Rod by accident when visiting Alaska from Australia. We stocked up on all the Salves and have been using them since. He also made a knife to our specifications and posted it to us, we are reminded of our holiday everytime we use it. Great people and great products.

Just some super down home folks selling quality merchandise with a real family feel. Couldn't of enjoyed it more.
