Time Traveler Records

This isn’t your hipster record store, Time Traveler takes you back old school with VHS tapes included. Vintage obscure vinyls like Larry Norman, Roxy Music, Harry Nilsson, Tijuana Brass but also your big hitters—The Beatles and Pink Floyd. New artists like Adele and Katy Perry.
Well organized. Smells like a 70’s record sleeve. The aesthetic inside is everything, showcasing the owner’s passion for music. One of my favorite spots in the heart of Akron.

They have a new location off of west market st, close to downtown Akron. The location is really cozy and the environment was welcoming. Lots of great deals on records and an abundance of classical music selections. I think I will be a regular from now on.

I've shopped here since 1998 or so and it's always been a good experience. The owner is a really nice guy and has probably forgotten more about music than I'll ever know. He's fun to chat with and also totally cool just leaving you to browse. Any time there hasn't been something in stock I've been looking for, he's been able to order it for me, COD, and usually have it in within a week. When you see people lamenting how many brick and mortar record stores have closed, they're talking about places like this.

Stopped into this place on my way through Akron a few weeks ago and I love it! The used CDs are pretty disorganized and 16 dollars for a lot of the new CDs is kind of pricey, but five dollars for used CDs is a good deal. And the selection is huge for how relatively small the place is. I live four hours away from Akron, and the only record store I've got back home is nice, but their selection is pretty tiny. They only ever have two Beatles albums and no Blur, two bands that I'm currently in the process of collecting. But at this one, I got three Blur albums for fifteen bucks, and they had pretty much the entire Beatles discography for sale. I just kind of wish they had more Radiohead and Smashing Pumpkins. It seems it's hard to find stuff by those bands at most record stores. Anyway, the guys that work here are super chill and they know a lot about music. It was great talking with them! Overall, I've been to a lot of record stores across Ohio, and this is one of my favorites that I've gone to recently. Will definitely come back next time I'm in the Akron/Kent area. 10/10 would destroy my bank account again. You know it's worth it for Magical Mystery Tour and Wish You Were Here.

Great shop, although the filing system seems a bit scattered. (Not sure what the difference is between the two main rooms.) A great classical selection, too. Definitely found some gems here, and the owner is very friendly.

This place has soul.
Great tunes playing over the speakers. Folks talking music. Wide selection of new and used vinyl and cds. You're missing out if you don't stop.

I used to live in Akron and this was one shop I was a regular at. The new location is cool, expansive, and feels like home. The owner is knowledgeable and always has something I want, which usually consists of Frank Zappa records.

This is the best record store in Akron. The owner is friendly and helpful. The selection is not huge, but it is all quality. Prices are reasonable. There are also dollar bins in the back for dedicated crate diggers.

The owner of this place is awesome. Very knowledgeable about music and records, been in the game a long time. You can get lost for hours in here just digging in crates.
