Tucked alongside a hilly slope, but there's multiple entrances so you can find a parking spot near the east side, that doesn't require the walk down/up. There's a lovely short walk along a creek with lots of shade that was perfect for kids under 5. The playground has zero shade in comparison, so even in the winter it was pretty toasty, which is too bad since it's a nice playground! There's also a huge field, bathrooms, and picnic tables. Note: after rain, the field can get pretty muddy.

A fantastic park for adult and children. This park has playground for the kids, beautiful sitting area and restrooms. Has great views and fresh air. There is a hikes you can do and also can take your pets. Such a peaceful natural spot to hang on.

Quiet and peaceful place to get away and breathe some fresh air. The hike to the top take about 20 minutes. Only 2 benches to sit at so get there early or bring a chair to fully enjoy the views

This little park in the middle of the San Mateo is good option for a little hiking. The park is well maintained and clean. It does have clean bathrooms, and parking is easy to find on the streets nearby. The forest is very scenic and during the hiking we have very nice views. Dogs are allowed. I high recommend.

Dog friendly and fun. Nice park for kids and different trails depending on what you like. I went on a very steep loop-Sugarloaf peak.

Great place for a little walk, play and picnic. I would probably use a riding toy or a bike with my toddler on the trails because there is a lot of poison oak at the edges of some of the trails. The playground is great for all ages. 2 play structures and rubber surface. It only has baby swings but Includes a small sand area and water play spout but the times it's on is not posted. On a warm day it can get pretty hot because it's in a valley so be aware of the weather. In October at about 5pm the playground is completely shaded. Other than that the playground has no shade but most of the picnic tabels do.

A beautiful park with a few hiking trails. There are playgrounds and picnic tables with trellis. It was Easter weekend and there were a few childrens birthday parties. We went on the hike and reached sugarloaf peak. We went down the a different route then we came up on and ended up very far from out initial entrance. I suggest you leave down the same way you came if you do not want to get lost lol.

The park was nice, clean. I came 2 days in a row for the hike, 1 mile 1 way, and the view is nice, returned today to watch the sunrise, although it was cloudy, we still enjoyed the view. The trails have very narrow sections, be careful with bike hikers.

Laurelwood is one of our favorite places to hike with our dog. There is a large variety of trails to choose from and great views from Sugarloaf Hill. Some of the trails are very steep - take Natural Amphitheatre Trail for the easiest way to the top. At the base area there’s a nice kids playground and large grassy area that is great for picnics & lawn games.

1 mile up hike, great hike for beginners or working on building endurance. Restrooms at the beginning of trail was clean and well maintained. The trail is narrow, compared to other trails.
Update, returned to watch the sunrise, beautiful view, but the mosquitoes!!!

Beautiful well-maintained park and hiking trails. Trails aren't that tough buy can if you take any other trail to the top other than the main route. Trails start wide then get very narrow about one person wide once you start ascending. Some bicyclists also use the trails. On top is a 360 degree view of the mid peninsula area and even a distant view of downtown SF. I did see many doggie poop bags just discarded on the trails. There's no parking lot but only street parking. There's a huge nice playground and nice clean restrooms.

Beautiful park for walking.
View of the bay area from hill top is perfect on a sunny day.
Be careful the path on Salson Trail is pretty steep going down.

It's a nice, easily accessible park, with a mixture of recreational spaces. There's a playground and some groomed lawn, where you could picnic, or just lounge. And then there are some trails if you want to do some exploring.

The Sugarloaf summit trail was fairly short, but had a moderate grade the whole way up.

You get some nice views of the bay, and surrounding neighborhoods as you climb 400-500 ft.

Rare park in the peninsula which is better classified as a hill. It has decent hiking trails to the top. The foliage is just enough for shade but there are segments without trees and it can be scorching hot. The trails are not mapped out well so it is easy to get lost but given the park not being too big, you eventually end up at the top. Hiked to the top with a 3 and 5 yr old toddlers. Both made it eventually and it took us an hour to return to the base park. Playground has a decent sized gym but no shade so avoid during mid-day. Not that many people. Amazing views that stretch to SF. Highly recommend it!

I went on my first hike here in June of 2021. Great park for families and the view of San Mateo was a sight to see on the hill.

Great local park for hiking, MTB, or just enjoying the playground. There are great views from the top and you can get there via 3-4 different trails of varying difficulty.

Should have checked this out sooner. Great play area for kids big and small. Nice grassy field with picnic tables and trees to shade some of them. Bathroom and easy parking. I only walked a small length of the trails, but I would definitely like to explore more of them.
