I had the most wonderful experience here. It wasn't what I planned, with my sudden preeclampsia diagnosis, I had to suddenly be induced. I wanted to go to the birthing center, but they made it a beautiful experience for me. Every single nurse/midwife I had was absolutely wonderful. They're all so helpful and understanding, I would give birth here again. 100%. Highly recommend.

FTM and was nervous about where to deliver because of previous issues with a different hospital/Obgyn in marana and not being from this area. This was the best first delivery experience for me. I had to be induced, and the nurses/docs were super nice, funny, interactive, helpful, understanding, and answered all my questions. I cannot remember everyone's names because some alternated or switched out a bit and mom brain lol, but Valerie, Cali, Lisa, Erica, loui, and Stefanie (postpartum care) were all amazing and im grateful i had a positive experience🙏🏼👏🏼

Delivered my first child here. I was so nervous and scared but I’m sooo thankful I had the best care team. Nurse Marjon was so helpful so patient and so understanding. She quickly gained my trust because it was obvious me and baby well being was her priority. Dr. Johnson was great and comforting during my C-section so thankful for him talking to me and comforting me as my C-section was unplanned. Dr. Bala was amazing every appointment I had she always listened to me and answered every question no matter how silly it may seem. I was thankful she performed my C-section because I knew I was in good hands! They made my first delivery experience a pleasant one. If I could pick this team for every child birth I would lol

While I was in labor, I was turned away from St. Joseph's hospital due to a lack of availability/nursing staff. I had a terrible experience at St. Joe's triage and I know now it was a major blessing I had to transfer care to Tucson Medical Center!

Upon check-in the receptionist was patient as I had to pause every 3 to 4 minutes to answer questions between contractions. She also answered the questions my husband and I had as best she could. She led us to our hospital room where a team of care providers were ready for me.

Before any treatment, I made sure to explain what I had just been through (a major breach of consent at St. Joe's) and I advocated for what I needed and expected. I made sure to be respectful in expressing my wishes and they were respectful to me as well. I was never treated like a number. I was treated like a person. Even though the nurses were switching shifts in 30 minutes, they listened to me and answered my questions. I gave them my birthing plan and the doctor came in to discuss it with me. Even though some of my desires (as a vbac patient whose water had spontaneously ruptured 24 hours before my arrival) were against normal hospital protocol, they allowed me to birth naturally and the way I wanted.

Nurse Jaime was with me my entire birthing time and she is the BEST nurse I could ever hope for. She was so supportive of my needs, even as they changed. She was encouraging, kind, and patient. I cannot shout her praises enough. The other care providers were wonderful as well. Everyone communicated very clearly with me and got my consent on any treatment.

This review is already very long but my experience in the mom and baby unit was similar. I had a variety of nurses due to the length of my stay but they were all kind, patient, and personable. I never had to wait very long to receive help or medications when I was in pain. My birth was very difficult but I have absolutely no complaints about my hospital stay at Tucson Medical Center. Me, my baby, my husband and even our visitors were treated with such respect.

I would 100% recommend TMC labor and delivery and would love to birth here again. Thank you for providing such great care!

Labor and delivery have a great team! I felt I was in the best care. They all seem to love there job and truly care about there patients. Very supportive on breast-feeding and will help you through it as well, Making every step possible. The best NICU, breastfeeding specialists, high risk obgy. They have it all, and they all work well together. Even there housekeeping team was great making sure your always satisfied with there services.

Though I didn’t have an easy L&D, had a good experience as a first time mommy at TMC thanks to their great staff. We were so grateful to have such awesome nurses throughout the process.

Also, the baby classes offered by the TMC really helped ease some of the anxiety we had as first timers. Highly recommend taking those courses and sign up well in advance.

I had my first and only baby here. I am AMAZED at how thoughtful, attentive, knowledgeable, and caring the staff here was!! Blown away. Helped me almost effortlessly deliver my baby even though I had little to no prenatal care, and stabilized my pre-eclampsia by battling it with blood pressure meds persistently. What can I say besides: They saved my life? Phenomenal staff, I cannot stress it enough. If you're at TMC getting care, you're set. Period. Thank you guys!!

Special shout-out to Nurse Liza, Nurse Robyn and Dr Hernandez. Honestly do not think I could have had as successful of a delivery without them. Liza was such a calming presence and was excellent at communicating with me throughout my entire stay in labor and delivery. Dr Hernandez was incredible and empowered me to push with everything I had in order to safely deliver my first baby. She gave me tips on how to push and hold my legs and had such a commanding, powerful presence; I had to push with all I had so that I didn't let her down lol. Nurse Robyn in the mom/baby unit was amazing. She was a delight to see all night long and was such a sweet, genuine, caring person. I don't plan on having another baby for a while but 110% will be back at TMC. With these 3 nurses on their staff, TMC and their patients are in good hands. I can't say thank you to them enough, they deserve all the praise in the world.

The labor and delivery was amazing. Being a mother and baby recovery portion was great also. The only issue we had was with the lactation consultants. We were given incorrect information on how to get our baby to latch properly. We went through the state to consult another lactation specialist and they gave us the proper information. We shared our experience with other friends in the community and they all had similar experiences. It seems that TMC is really trying to funnel new parents into their lactation clinic. That was the only issue I had wish TMC.

I gave birth there over a year ago, and ended up needing an emergency caesarian. As you could imagine, this was a scary time for me, however the nursing staff was amazing. They made me feel safe and comfortable at a time in my life where I was my most vulnerable. The anesthesiologist was SO amazing, I wish I remembered his name. He was so encouraging and kind during the procedure and I didn't even fell the epidural. The care I received both during and after was great. The only complaints I have is that I didn't get the "golden hour" of skin to skin with my baby like I wished I could have, and that I was there for 3 days even after I used the bathroom and walked around on day 2. Other than that, truly a great experience and I will use them again for my next pregnancy

Overall I had a great experience here with my delivery. I just had 1or 2 complaints. Mainly, when I got all my papers of info, when I first got to my baby room, I got NOTHING on breastfeeding. The lactation specialist sees you on ur last day before u get discharged. So there’s really no encouragement to breast feed, also she’s not passionate at all about what she does. When I had trouble feeding my baby they recommended pumping, donor milk, or formula. I agreed. BUT I requested to see the lactation specialist ASAP so my daughter wouldn’t get nipple confusion making it harder to breast feed. She never came to see me that day. The nurse told me she put me on her schedule first since she didn’t get a chance to see me, she didn’t come till about 11am before I was getting discharged. She was little help. There’s no follow up, since your getting discharged. I feel sorry for first time moms whole might have trouble breastfeeding. Everything so backwards. Oh but they have a breastfeeding class u can go to at the hospital afterwards since they taught u nothing while in the hospital. Thank god for YouTube videos with lactation specialist who actually have a passion for what they do. Why would a new mother want to go back to the hospital for a breastfeeding class? How inconvenient. If it was done right the first time you wouldn’t have to have a outpatient breastfeeding class.
